OK I can do it :)

I'm still here :) We've been very busy. New hires each week, in fact a new designer just started today and we're borrowing a skilled audio person from A3 for a few days to help set things up for our new Audio hire(s) when they arrive. We also have another new programmer starting any day now.

Our overall goal is still server performance, security, and stability. In the meantime content continues to roll in, so that's a good thing. All in all i'm feeling pretty good about our plans. But things are very busy, we've been working nights and weekends but mostly everyone took the weekend off (I spent most of it sleeping!).

I am starting to think that the Rocket is far too attached to the 'fast zombies' idea...Slower zombies, in greater numbers, with more lethality might be preferable.

I don't want to seem harsh, but I have kind of lost faith in them being able to make the fast moving zombies any good...

I still have some faith.

Well in the last stream or in the gameplay video they weren't really that fast anymore. Was much better because of that already to my eyes. And zombies can be slowered if they implement fatigue ;)

no dof option please !

Why it shouldn't be optional from other PP effects? It's pretty awful effect.

Fast zombies would only be good as long as they don't zig-zag when you aim your weapon at them as if they know they're being aimed at.

Personally, I'd like to see a combination of the two. Especially when it comes to seeing a random horde, some will run, some will walk.

there is absolutly nothing scary about slow ambling Z's... you could lead em all where you wanted duck back around and loot unimpeded. (like in breaking point for A3, kewl mod, but the Z's are just tooo easy) The movies/tv shows with em, rely on the survivors being retarded, to create the danger/suspense. I cant see a way o making slow Z's anything other than mind numbingly easy to manipulate.

I have become doubtful of their execution of "fast zombies", but I'd much rather have them than shamblers regardless of the quality.

I have no patience for Romero zombies. To me, it's just a wholly outdated depiction. It's like having the traditional "Count Dracula" in Twilight (which I hate).

That said, I'd support some shamblers, as variety would be great and it could be explained pseudo-scientifically. But sprinters all the way.

Hicks sounds like he is having far too much fun.

All you pre-alpha testers with your silly knees-bent running around behavior.

I'm finding it difficult to post here without degenerating into a desperate rant.

/in robotic voice *I look forward to enjoying this game when it's ready.*

To me it seemed, after watching the live stream, that they have slowed them down by using more the crippled run animations instead of full sprint anims. Probably the old sprint animation was just a placeholder ?

A good mix of all kind of zombies would be perfect..You should   never know what to expect.

just my two cents

Oh and honestly....since I never was a fan of the open alpha idea. I am more than happy about the delayed release....I still would prefer to see an extended closed alpha test and  then a beta release including most of the new content...

but that's just me

Delayed, delayed delayed !!!

Why do people use the word.

There has never been a date given, therefore there is no delay.

Where's SmashT ?

It's December already and no new Topic !

Yeah, I know, theoretically it could be already 2023 and it would still not be "delayed". However at some point we must go beyond exercising in formal logic and splitting semantic hairs and get real.

Probably re-thinking his life: "for how long do I have to gather this info and create new topics month after month after month?!"

Maybe just gave it up?

But it was implyed by rocket several times specially on e3, "its imminent", "it wont take longer than two months", final laps etc, he should have kept his mouth shut and dont dissapoint people over and over again.

the funny thing is we go on what rocket says then the period he suggests it should be available comes and goes and people get aggitated. you cant be annoyed at people who go on what the head dev has said at some point.

thing is it does need to be out before end of this year ! go on any forums people dont want to wait anymore the patience is stretched. you cant just keep making haystacks and prolonging it !

other companies are doing similar and this game needs to be released before someone does get the right game out that people want then its too late and people wont care what you added.

we have played the mod when its been buggy, its been buggy since the start ! so releasing a buggy alpha isnt new to dayz core players just get it out ! we love dayz but just get it out now .

When I suggested this summer to wait for the map improvments and some more content to be generated before releasing the alpha Rockets comment was "what the hell are you talking about".(on this forums). some more examples...Alpha release is a question of weeks...dayz alpha will be out before the end of this year....playable version should be out before Gamescom etc etc etc.

The Alpha Release HAS BEEN DELAYED again and again and again for different and proper reason and there is nothing wrong with !
