(On Steam 1 Euro = 1 USD, right?).

LOLNO! of course not. The Euro currency is slightly worth more than the dollar. Only slight.

Type into google "USD to Euro" and Google's currency service will pop up with the result.

In one of the interviews Dean said that the current night time (referring the lightning system in the night) is really bad and they'd try to find a way to improve this. I would like to know the current status of this. It has never been mentioned after that interview in anywhere that I can find. Did they really improve it or is this something they plan to do after alpha release or even in beta stage?

On the off chance that picture was real, damn, $19.99 is a very reasonable price to be asking for this game! 12.99 on Early Release sale, even better. (On Steam 1 Euro = 1 USD, right?).

Nope, Euro equals

1.38 US Dollar

You must play the mod on really low settings because those tree models are exactly the same as ARMA 2.  I know they are suppose to be using the ARMA 3 lighting system but I haven't really seen it in any of the screenshots.  Check out the link below of Chernarus ported to ARMA 3 and you will notice how much the SA screenshot looks like ARMA 2.

http://www.pcgamesn.com/dayz-s-chernarus-has-been-imported-arma-3-looks-really-nice

I know I've played Chernarus on Arma 3. Arma 3 lighting looks awful on Chernarus. This is where you can see better the tree models:

Notice how in Arma 2 those leaves are like sprites but in DayZ they're not just like in Arma 3. This means you can't get an advantage if you disable AtoC because with new trees there isn't much difference. If AtoC would be disabled in that Arma 2 picture, you could see pretty easily through those trees.

They might look almost the same when you look at them close but in the distance it's another story.

There are rumors that there has been a very short early access sale on Steam yesterday.

http://www.onlinewelten.com/games/dayz/news/standalone-version-angeblich-kurzzeitig-steam-erhaeltlich-early-access-start-ende-oktober-123772/

I will try to translate the article later.

Fakers gonna fake?

No reason translating that, it's pretty obviously fake in my opinion. In the second picture, the green box marking reduced prices is missing and there is no logo or name for DayZ on it.

Plus, why would someone take a picture of the monitor instead of screenshotting? To reduce quality and hide the signs of editing, I would assume.

Though you're right, 1 Euro = 1 Dollar for Steam games is absolutely true nonetheless. Unfortunately, we just have to pay more.

So yeah, when there's a game for $49,99, we will most likely have to pay €49,99, which equals to $68. Kinda sucks.

I'm done whining now.

I'm not.

Rome2 (just an example) sell for 50 yo-yos in mainland Europe, and 30 squids in the UK.

30 GBP = 35,15 EUR, not 50.

Damn you Steam.

In that first screenshot why is DayZ listed between two games that came out 5-6 years ago? Seems fishy...

It's definitely going to be released next week in my opinion, Played DayZ for the first time in months earlier, hope the SA gives some freshness!

It's an alpha, it is all about testing things.  Besides that, they can easily wipe the hive and reset everyone whenever they want.

This is not what I mean. If I had the M4 100 times in my hands, it will be nothing special if I find it later on. And we all know, everyone will play the alpha, no matter if it is supposed to be just testing or not.

I highly doubt the only gun in the alpha release will be the m4. If so everyone will be running around with melee weapons.

The reason the M4 is always shown in the screenshots you see is because it's being used as a benchmark weapon for testing etc. so expect more to follow.

Having said that for the initial release also expect a VERY limited selection of weapons at first.  I'd expect that list to quickly grow though if the initial release and feedback goes well.

Does anyone (beta testers etc) know how the fps performance is in the SA?

Yes. It is a First Person Shooter. But you can play it in third person too.

There's honestly no sensible way for me (or any of the testers) to answer that at this point.

For example, if I say that for me I've experienced really good fps rates on my very average spec system everyone will be expecting that, if I say I've had rubbish fps rates people will be fearing the worst and wondering why the devs haven't improved the optimisation of the engine since Arma2.  At this stage the game is in very heavy development so things change daily.

What I will say though is that optimisation is an ongoing thing to my knowledge.  The server architecture itself will/should improve things and as they continue to add new features/gameplay mechanics I'm sure optimisation and performance is at the front of their minds but true optimisation takes place further on in development.

Basically I've managed to answer you without answering you at all, I hope that helps =)

I'm not sure whether that's supposed to be some really dumb joke.

Fps in this case obviously refers to frames per second, hence the addition of the word performance in the sentence. How often do you hear people talking about first person shooter performance?

Don't answer that question.
