Wilkommen my friends!

I have a suggestion, Hiding.

Now, in DayZ you see a lot of boring old fridges and crap, what if you could hide in them?.

Now, of course Fridges would be questionable because of the easiness of suffocation.

But cupboards, Closets and other storage devices big enough to fit a human inside would do the game a lot of new atmosphere, you could hide in them, zooming into first person.

A Bandit stalking the house, checking the closets, the fridges, the sink cupboards, any where which a person can fit inside, you see through a crack that he's approaching you, unable to arm your gun.

He rips open the door and your heart pumps, he only has a hatchet, but soon he chops you into mutilated flesh in the cupboard...

NOW, imagine the terror, this would be great added later in the SA...

Now, go and vote for this, or advice would be great!.

You'd have to be an amateur contortionist to fit into most cabinets.

inb4 closet jokes.

There are some big wooden wardrobes in the houses in Chernarus that a normal sized man or woman could hide inside. It might be difficult with a bag on your back though, perhaps you'd have to drop that first.

Not a bad idea according to Steven Spielberg. With a bull whip and a fedora you can survive a nuclear blast in one.

Most people have one already, if it was implemented they would be everywhere...

Das ist sehr doof, zum beispiel wenn es 12:00pm ist. Ich gehe nach Hause, wo es sehr ruhig ist, wenn ich bekam Angst, dann laufe ich sehr schnell!

Even if the space could technically accommodate a normal sized human being, I can't imagine the average person loaded with survival equipment climbing in and out of furniture like that. It's hard to get into and out of moderately tight spaces if you aren't a flexible person.

You could drop everything you were carrying, but if the point was to hide it would seem quite suspicious that there's a bag, vest, and weapons sitting on the floor in front of a wardrobe.

As a last resort of surivial against a bandit or zeds I guess it could be viable. Pussies way out though! :P As this is concerning the SA I shan't vote.

Would be neat, also cool if one or two building types had a little crawl space, or attic/basement.

Anyone ever hide in one of the wooden outhouses?

You should be able to fit into wardrobes and stuff but not fridges or cabinets it's not like every dayz player is double jointed in every bone or something lol

I would think it would probably only work on zombies, and then only if they don't see you getting in to whatever your hiding.  Think the player should also make noise (depending on the situation) IE running a marathon to get away from both zombies and players and breathing heavily, if the zombies got close enough to your hiding spot they might hear and reaggro.  Same for a player, say you run through a building try to escape a better armed bandit, 2 entrance room (rather than a deadend room) bandit might think you kept running out the door if he didn't see you, but of course could hear your breathing if he was paying attention.

Also think it should be limited.  Hiding in a kitchen cabinet?  Not likely unless your 10 years old or something.  Closets and dumpsters make the most sense really, would still have to be some minor tradeoffs, like you'd only be safe from zombies, but you'd be trapped if they saw you go in, if a Player unloaded into the dumpster or door of the closet you're fucked.  I'd also have them make a small amount of noise (bit more with the dumpster).

I agree OP :beans:

why not make cupboard for hide? also fridge, freeze box and maybe locker in school house or fire stations ;)

is good system for make new experience for looting house and building example 'is player hide here???' :o

also give player chance for hide from attack and make surprise ambush on player who don't know what happen   :D

Here is another twist. You hide in an armoire or closet. Player chases ya into the building and can hear ya breathing heavy inside. Player decides to take some rope, or handcuffs, and locks you in.   ;)    Of course, after some time, it will automatically unlock like the handcuffs will if placed on a player.

Also, this hiding in closets etc.. could be used to ambush the player chasing you. Like in BigMikes post above: room or building has two entrances, you hide but player does not find you.. so exits the 2nd entrance. Now you are behind the player and can sneak up for a knife in the back or whatever..  :D
