Some german guy just tweeted https://twitter.com/benyema :

DayZ deutlich länger gespielt als ich durfte aber hey.. Für eine Pre-Alpha sehr schön. Noch viel Arbeit für die Macher. #gc2013hsh

which means:

I played DayZ longer than I was actually allowed to, but hey... Pretty nice for a Pre-Alpha. But still a lot of work to do for the devs.

Damn, what a difference with the E3 content they showed. According to the content seen at gamescom for DayZ it looks really great!

EDIt: I don't know about you guys but after the E3/Rezzed videos I felt underwhelmed. I had high hopes for the alpha to be released by june/july! But now I feel like Rocket is clearer and that's nice.

^^ absolutely ^^

It seems to me like things have been progressing really well the past couple months.  The game looked absolutely beautiful and it looked sharp and responsive too.  Glad to know that the only thing keeping them from releasing the Alpha at this point is the network bubble.

Honestly, I'm very impressed with how it looks at this point.

Wait what, Gamescom? I had no idea this was going on.

I think I'll quit my job and just sit and watch this thread.

SmashT, you make the best threads.

I'm pretty sure it will get nothing but better. I kinda failed to analyze the sound of the M4 but that looks promising too. Let's wait and see what we will have when the alpha pops up.

He started going into his thoughts on 1st/3rd person and then got sidetracked mid flow by some noob, I wanted to hurt that noob.

Anyway, thanks for the video Soul, it's looking great.

Only a delay of 3 minutes, brought by Soul Airlines! ;P You should anyway thank the guy who made it. His works are piece of gold, he is very qualified in regards to that. So go and sub him already!

Agreed.  I think Dyslexis vid and the discussion following it both here and in testing has highlighted to the team how important it is to the players to get right.

Looks more and more amazing, but I'm still concerned with the animation quality. I really thought it would be an improvement over the mod but the running still looks "unnatural" a bit like if the character was gliding and some transitions look in fast forward and not really natural either... Pre alpha I know... still, so much immersion could be gained with solid animations and characters that feel like they have a "weight" in the world.

Really loving the progress since last time! Loooks to be shaping up just fine. Its awesome that he has gone with the SS13 style crafting and item combinations etc. So much more depth, not knowing what you can do with the things you find.

I think many people who have never played SS13 or something similiar (if there is anything) will be blown away by the possibilities. I bet all of us will think at some point: "Hmmm now I have X and Y... Can I make this? Does the game let me make this?" and "Wow I can make that! I never thought a game would let me do that!".

Its awesome that someone in the industry is finally making something that intrigues players like that, and helps them "cunjure up" in their imagination things that mabe they can make out of the given items. Also hope community input will shape the vast verieties of combinations and features, so that after mabe a year we can safely say that DayZ is unique in its genre.

It seems the weapons aren't glued to the hands anymore which would be great. Friendly players can then reduce their threat profile when meeting others. It also gives some cues to a distant watcher, eg if two players raises their weapon in unison as a reaction to sound or something.

Hello there)

I didn't even know that Rocket was shooting gameplay video  :) I played in a relaxed state. Don't judge strictly... Language barrier has had an effect.
