veristaya 71 Posted July 9, 2013 Probably waiting for the summersale on Steam, so BI can get the money from those few people who haven't bought Arma2 yet.Yeah I know I see conspiracy's everywhere...Man, nobody didn't buy it yet. It was on sale like 5 times in the last year^^
SmashT 10907 Posted July 9, 2013 (edited) By the way did Rocket say anything about the new forums and website (dayzgame.com)?We're moving to Reddit. That's why Rocket doesn't post here anymore. I'm kidding. Edited July 9, 2013 by SmashT
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted July 9, 2013 Yeah, that's why the average game take 9 to 12 months to produce. DayZ has the added benefit of being in house, with people who created arma and take on helicopters lending support to Rocket and the team. It may not mean as much as updating rosters in a sports game but still, is it such a stretch to expect more? ;)When you say more you mean quicker, right? They're working as fast as they can, the fact is as Rocket clearly says on that Reddit thread there is certain things that simply have to be in place before a public release, those things aren't quite ready yet. That's just how it is.

intensity (DayZ) 312 Posted July 9, 2013 We're moving to Reddit. I kid.I do remember you guys saying that THIS will be the official forums but...Why does Rocket update Reddit so often? I feel like this is place B. The North East Airfield of Chernarus

ImageCtrl 719 Posted July 9, 2013 You can't compare a triple A title like The Last Of Us with a game like DayZ. That's basically like comparing an elephant to a mouse.http://earthenergyreader.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/elephant-n-mouse.jpg
BwobBwub 660 Posted July 9, 2013 I'm glad we have got some contact from Rocket though. I think the lack of devblogs and info is good, it means they're working.
AnarchyBrownies 1383 Posted July 9, 2013 See, I think it's because people think the devs keep missing release dates that their impatience grows out of control. When you ask people which dates they mean they usually quote somebody that was just speculating about a date based on a mis-quote.6 months is a VERY short time in terms of game development.I think the reason people sometimes shake babies is because the babies don't stop talking about missed DayZ alpha deadlines that never existed. I could see that being a reason I snapped. Watch yourself, offspring.

veristaya 71 Posted July 9, 2013 TBH it wouldn't have taken much effort to post it here and on the devblog as well. Copy/Paste, and it still makes me really sad that someone else had to inform us about what he's writing on a medium that is far less accessable than for example these forums.

This would include things like the size of the team, funding, their personal goals for what EXACTLY the alpha should have upon release, the nature of obstacles they're encountering, etc. If you don't know any of this then you have no reason to think they should have the game out at a certain date.

I could see that being a reason I snapped. Watch yourself, offspring.Except actually there were. Originally DayZ was meant to be finished in 2012 and this is common knowledge. Deadlines missed on dev blogs and time frames were stretched. I don't feel like doing the googling for you.

veristaya 71 Posted July 9, 2013 He doesn't have time and stuff. BUT he has THE MODERATORS. :)Well then he should have posted it on the devblog, as the reddit mods could easily repost there. I just feel cheated for not using reddit (well, I do now). This is a standalone now, it has its own devblog, it's not a mod for the reddit community.
Owain1122 218 Posted July 9, 2013 He also put on reddit at the weekend that they had a bug that was crashing the game after 2 minutes in, that they fixed. That spells to me a very unfinished pre-Alpha. I'm not expecting it to come till late august

Rage VG 4033 Posted July 9, 2013 (edited) I thought the thread said "I want to alpha". I don't know why, but it made me laugh.HELLO ROCKET I WOULD LIKE TO DO AN ALPHA ON YOU. PLS RESPOND.I lol'dWe dont want the alpha to be good, we want it to be an alpha. THATS WHY ITS AN ALPHA!We want to be part of the developement. Rocket said he wants input. You aint gonna get that if you dont release. ZzzzzzzzNo, YOU want that. If I'm spending money on something I don't care how much hype it has, I'd better be able to play the thing.Except it was rocket himself who said that SA will be released in 2012. And then we had nothing until January when he cleared it up on the devblog. And as has been explained to everyone repeatedly on the aforementioned devblog and beyond, that deadline was scrapped since they decided to do much, much more with the game. So that's one scrapped release date. Edited July 9, 2013 by Rage VG

MOS182 63 Posted July 9, 2013 I think people have to understand that a lot of Alpha development isn't just about adding new features. It's also about finding the bugs and fixing them, or maybe trying to improve the appearance of the game. I've currently got an Android app at Alpha stage and I'll hopefully have it released within the next 2 months. I'm constantly trying to work on feedback fixing any bugs and trying to implement suggestions if I can but I've also got my own ideas which I work on implementing as well. Luckily for me I have no pressure on me to release it.I guess that's how I can relate to DayZ. I'm at the Alpha stage so I'm guessing the devs working on DayZ have the similar experiences to myself. I have some days where productivity is great, other days I can be stuck at trying to figure out how to do something for hours and might not get it fully completed until a couple days later.
