TxReaper 17 Posted May 31, 2013 I hope I'm wrong but I'm seeing a possible long long delay in the release. one/two years. rocketBean KingDayZ Staff1711 postsPosted Today, 09:56 AMninjaontour, on 31 May 2013 - 09:43 AM, said:I'm not saying that it's ugly, what I'm saying is that there is no improvement over ArmA II. As it stands, with everything ramped up ArmA II can be a beautiful game. The point I was making is that all of the people saying "ZOMG I CAN SMELL THE GRASS ITS SO REALISTIC" are obviously looking at these shots through some rose tinted fanboy glasses, or they're playing the current mod on very low settings.I'm still looking forward to standalone, I guess I was just expecting things to be a little prettierWell I've yet to play DayZ Standalone above medium, because I develop and play on a laptop. We have considered graphical improvements, such as DX11 - but doing something like that WILL delay the project by one/two years. Not only does a large amount of code need to be rewritten - but you have a great deal of art to be change (like, nearly everything). I'm really repeating myself on this topic for the millionth time rocketBean KingDayZ Staff1711 postsPosted Today, 10:27 AMHeiduk, on 31 May 2013 - 10:17 AM, said:What I really want to know though: How does night look?Night looks fucking awful at the moment. fluxley 2228 Posted May 31, 2013 (edited) You could be wrong indeed.edit: just noticed you said "I hope i'm wrong" not "I could be wrong", this makes my snappy retort less effective, would you mind changing it? Edited May 31, 2013 by Fluxley

fluxley 2228 Posted May 31, 2013 Wouldnt read too much into it, Fraggles pretty loose with his beans, he's got bloody thousands of 'em.
sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted June 1, 2013 My reading comprehension skeelz are pretty low but I'm pretty sure he's just saying DX11 was considered as a potential solution to how fucking awful the night currently is but it was dismissed after realizing how long that would take to accomplish.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted June 1, 2013 Another solution would be 24/7 daylight. With that in mind. Rocket, dude, take all the time you need.
Death_Dealer 3155 Posted June 1, 2013 Chernarus, with no working power grid and its usual cloud cover, would be pretty dark at night. Not pitch black, of course, but close. Even on a full moon it'd still be fairly hard to see.

Not pitch black, of course, but close.Even on a full moon it'd still be fairly hard to see.I'd honestly hate if all nights were full moons. Extremely dark and it's almost necessary to use flares if you'd like to survive, that's exactly what I want.

ThaFatBuddha 21 Posted June 1, 2013 Hi folks,With Matt being away today and being really busy with E3 I didn't get a chance to make a devblog. But here is a screen of the current WIP of the inventory I put on my twitter:And here is an exclusive for the forums as an apology for not being very active here as of late. It shows some of the major changes and improvements to the map, in this case SenChi has been redoing roads adding enhancements and making the terrain feel more real. Why does the survivor have a bottle of cleaning spray in his backpack? It's not like he's cleaning cars.......or is he??????
jedijeff1993 12 Posted June 1, 2013 Rocket. What I concern the most is that you can first finish the basic system and we can play it.But every other thing like font, UI. You can improve those later when you want.I mean, of course you can do these after we have vehicles, new maps etc.I love this game's core surviving system. Remember those diseases Rocket has been talking about? Better clean those beans you steal off that dead body. Edited June 1, 2013 by DemonGroover
Katana67 2907 Posted June 1, 2013 Hmmm... Well, I'd have to see how night looks in SA.If it looks worse than vanilla DayZ, then I'd say take some time to improve it before release. If it looks the same, then don't worry about it until later.Night looks pretty bad in vanilla DayZ in my opinion, so hard to tell what Rocket means in this regard. gummy52 57 Posted June 1, 2013 An ugly interface and a screenshot of ArmA 2. Awesome.Even with the best texturing in the world, I don't possibly see how that GUI could ever be considered an improvement.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted June 1, 2013 Hey gummy! ;)I'm guessing you'll struggle to see the improvement because you've still got your head jammed firmly in your ass.A pleasure, as always.
djshauny1 222 Posted June 1, 2013 No wonder Dean doesnt visit this forum much. He shows us some screens of the current progress and all you can do is bitch and moan about it? IMO the UI looks fine as it is, nothing wrong with it. Jesus christ guys give Dean a fucking break.

beastoverlord 574 Posted June 1, 2013 I bet if people actually posted more positive stuff that we would get more of this too. :( It's stupid how people think that this should look and feel like a AAA title.
gummy52 57 Posted June 1, 2013 It's stupid how people think that this should look and feel like a AAA title. I'd settle for a C title. This is shaping up to be an F title.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted June 1, 2013 Awww gummy, I missed you too.I think you'll find (if you were an actual part of the community instead of just a negative-nancy) I have 2k posts because I enjoy discussion of this project. The door's always open if you want to talk nice, but I'm not going to waste my time sparring with your brick-wall banter.
