Regardless of RC being annoyed, don't lower yourself to sarcastic comments. If he is just flamed for his opinion, correct or not, he'll never return and then will never see anything from anyone else's point of view.

I too think he's mistaken. But rather than alienate the chap, let him know the facts.

Also anyone in the spotlight (or indeed wants to be) is going to have a large ego. That's not in and of itself a bad thing. But sometimes having many "yes men" around one can skew ones perception. And it can be hard having one's preconceptions challenged. So when dealing with folk like this, it's often wise to wear kid gloves.

I know very little of RC (i think he's a known 'tuber or a streamer), so cannot say any of this applies to him, rather this is a point for *up there* folk in general.

If he cant see the wood for the trees then guide him.

Generalising about people in the community or on the forums is not an endearing trait.

If someone wants to be treated with respect they should bear this in mind and behave accordingly.

But I take your point Mr O.

A guy I watch was getting 1-2K views a few weeks back now he lucky to get 300. People move on to the next person who is the new flavour. Sad but true.

This game will be sweet. Is there any concern in the future when this releases that mankind will have evolved beyond our current species such that people will no longer comprehend the concept of a zombie apocalypse?

EDIT : I skim read this and thought it would have been better as a PM, then thought it was purely sarcastic, but after reading it again thought it was actually a really shitty post. It actually takes condescending to a new level.

A prime example of what should have been posted as a normal forum user rather than a moderator.

There's alot of bias and really one of the reasons I don't really bother posting anywhere else except in server general. From Mods pulling plugs for their very own Balota Buddies or simply locking posts because it's felt the content has zero value isn't something favorable to a public forum. Resurrecting a thread that might have some relevant information should not constitute a lock because a mod feels it's too old. Perhaps content should be more important than raising post counts for the sake of typing towards a status symbol nobody really cares about. Of course, you then have the bandwagon users who'll give beans to a mods post no matter if it clearly contains biased opinions.

If you are completely unbiased about Dayz, you are unlikely to spend a lot of time on the Dayz forums.

Moderators, of course, are real people with opinions and shouldn't be forced to hide this.

Most forum users are sensible enough to tell the difference between a mod moderating and a mod posting his/her thoughts.

The Dayz forum is the best it ever were, gone are the days of wall-to-wall smacktalk and constant spam. The moderators have a large part in accomplishing this, and they have done it with the sleek silky glove, not the iron gauntlet.

Better have real people moderating, with their faults, warts and all, than faceless bot-mods that will never ever discuss with you why can't post pictures of your booger collection in Server General.

The community hasn't gone south in the slightest. People just pay attention to lacking posts in the forums to believe they are somewhat higher than others. There are good, original members that still operate and visit these forums. They are the people I listen to. If you think that you are high and mighty just because the community is getting a slight change in pace, I think you are mistaking.

From here on in, if I hear any posts saying that community is turning bad, I'm flippin' shit.

I'm going to have to disagree with this, lately people on forums and reddit have been acting pretty arrogant and nasty towards eachother. Many threads seem to get popular because everyone wants to bash the OP, unfortunately this pushes all the good civilized threads to the attic. But like I said, things will calm down once SA is released. And that's as far as I'm gonna go on this topic.

Personally, I appreciate the fact that the mods are comfortable enough in their position to speak with us proles candidly and informally.

That this isn't to every person's taste is none of my concern. The fact is, regardless of the colour of their screen name, every user here is entitled to share their opinion.

Max, you are and forever will be a biased fanboi. You complained about me being negative yet you are like an LP stuck on the same track.

Did I, or anyone else, propose a system where you wouldn't be able to show your booger collection?

At the same level as us mere mortals they can do whatever they want, but when they put on the moderator hat, they should be forum moderators, simple as that. The moderator badge gives added emphasis over a normal forum user, hence anything posted as a moderator should be specific to that role.

1. Of course I'm biased, and I said so myself in the first line of my last post.

2. How can I be like an LP stuck on the same track when I am talking about something completely different than our previous discussion? You are the one bringing it back up.

3. No, no one proposed a system where they couldn't show off their booger collection and nobody said they did. I said that it was a good thing to have mods who are willing to take a discussion, as people, instead of merely being a function.

1. Therefore you're unable to provide an objective arguement.

2. It was the LP of 'Biasness' and you're stuck on the title track.

3. It's a good thing to have mods that moderate. If they're active in the community 'outside their role' i.e. as normal forum users, even better!!!

When I first used these forums last year you couldn't make a single post even slightly critical of Rocket or DayZ without being bombarded by "cool story bro!", memes, flames and just general trolling. Of course that still goes on, it's the internet but anyone who thinks it's worse now than it was then needs to remove their rose tinted specs.

Rocket, in his own words wants this forum to be like the wild west. Of course we could moderate it like the BIS forums, in fact as a moderator that would be easier. Everything there is black and white with none of this messy grey stuff in the middle It would result in a nice tidy forum but a sterile one. That's not a forum I would personally enjoy, in fact I gave up posting there 2 years ago although as an information resource it's still great but that's all.

People expect different thing's from forums and I've never in my life been part of a forum where everyone is happy how things are run. The reason I personally have spent so much time moderating here is first and foremost because as a gamer I really want DayZ to succeed and me moderating here is just a small way I can help them with that, secondly I still happen to think this is a great community if you scratch through the surface and I've made many good friends here, some of those friends started out as people that disagreed with me or vice -versa but as adults we managed to resolve or set aside our differences.

Basically, if you don;t like the forums as they are, blame Rocket :P .

The only one that keeps refering to you as "mere mortals" is you. I certainly don't have an ego and I'm well aware my role is just to shuffle posts around, nothing else. There's many regular posters on here that I have a massive amount of respect for and I never look down on anyone.

No matter what I'll say, you'll keep responding with your favourite insult: 'fanboi'.

You use insults because you are biased.

Also, #2 needs a better explanation, not just an ill thought out oneliner.

aahhh...you seem to be a good choice...you shall be my servant then!

edit:

i layed low for a while and this is what these threads turned out to? ppl seem to be über-nervous because of the lack of "any new" sublime infos getting more and more frustrated and start to pick everything into pieces in their search of new/other things to complain. holy moley!

Erm, I think you'll find that my previous post was the 1st time I'd used the term 'fanboi'.

Need I say more......?

It's an insult nonetheless. It's also your whole argument.

I have no idea why you suddenly decided to attack me, since insults and false accusations do a very poor job of explaining it.

What is it that you want? A hug?

Herbster, I actually agree with some of your points and I'm constantly aware we walk a fine line, sometimes I think we cross that line too but I think most of us are mature enough to appologise when we mess up. I think most people can see that when we're posting it's usually just our personal opinions. I know what you mean about our mod status meaning some people think our words carry more weight, I personally don't think they do, our opinions are no more valid than anyone elses whether they have 1 post or 1000 posts.
