wireworld 65 Posted February 10, 2013 To enhance Survivors gameplay why not give long term survivors extra health as a reward for surviving. Maybe an extra 500 HP for each week they survive, (as long as they have played say, 20 hours in that week). Link this to a set of long-term survival skins, better ones for each extra 2000 HP and personally, I think it would be a winner.Kind regards as alwaysMacWireworld Game Studio, Cafe and Bar
B00tsy (DayZ) 19 Posted February 10, 2013 No doubt some will say that it does not fit with the story to get magically extra health, but I like the idea. Might be even more special perks for surviving, like a few extra backpack slots or getting hungry thirsty less quickly (cos you are a veteran survivor).

Chris529 380 Posted February 10, 2013 could be alright maybe not HP though don't want to make it too unfair but I like not getting hungry/thirsty as fast that would work.
nobody 31 Posted February 10, 2013 Nah, I don't think it could be good...
Magermayn 35 Posted February 10, 2013 Its sounds pretty good but i think it would be way to overpowered with that hp bonus but some other bonusses would be cool
wooly-back-jack 294 Posted February 10, 2013 everyone would just hide in the bushes though, thus making extra hp not needed lol
burritoman259 593 Posted February 10, 2013 I hope by extra blood you mean a little bit of extra blood maybe 750 at the max? but just to keep it from being super OP.
UmBe 125 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) If something like this where to be implemented it should be purely cosmeticly.e.g. you kill 2000 "Zombies" the next time you start a new char you have the ability to start as a Policemanofficer ore military dude.(there should be more levels) Edited February 10, 2013 by UmBe

p4nnus 42 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) No fucking bonuses. Not a single one. This has been discussed about over and over again, and NO. Learn to use the search bar. By surviving, or even by being thirsty/hungry often(or all the time), you dont get better at withstanding it. Without knowing barely anything about human biology, it must be the exact opposite. Well maybe with hunger, you would learn to cope up with less, but this would also mean that you wouldnt be able to do the marathons as you are now. IMO you should be able to go about without food for a little longer time, but then you wouldnt be able to run at all, and your aiming would be all over the place etc.So my few cents: no bonuses whatever the case. If the hunger/thirst(+stamina?) system gets overhauled to something even more hardcore, then we can reconsider different things about food and drinks. If not, the current system is just fineIf something like this where to be implemented it should be purely cosmeticly.e.g. you kill 2000 "Zombies" the next time you start a new char you have the ability to start as a Policemanofficer ore military dude.(there should be more levels). No to this also. In SA there will be pants and shirts and so on, to choose from. BUT ofcourse you need to find these pieces of clothing first. IMO the starting clothing should be just randomized civil gear, but I dont mind seeing the likes of the hero skin (with a vest as long as they dont gain bonuses wearing it, UNLESS you need to find that body armor separately). Why not you ask? Because atleast the soldier camo gives you a great advantage because of the camouflage. And it also takes away from the experience of starting fresh, with a totally new character. mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted February 11, 2013 If you've survived through illness, your body builds up resistance.I'm not sure how that works with bacterial infections, but you can certainly gain immunity to viruses.Depending on what types of sickness we're exposed to in SA, this could become a benefit of long-term survival. As soon as you croak though, you're back to square one. That's the only way I can see "survival bonuses" playing any part in DayZ.Anything else would just feel artificial and crappy. CreepySalad 108 Posted February 11, 2013 How many of you have had chickenpox more than once?I wouldn't mind the whole "if you get sick, you are more resistant to it" thing. I DO mind, the "if you play nice/survive long, you get the ability to fly".Humanity and survival bonuses should not be in this game. The bonus is knowledge. Jars (DayZ) 63 Posted February 11, 2013 It shouldn't necessarily be about "bonuses" for long term survivors , but "changes" for long term survivors , and not all the changes may be favorable .Magically gaining back pack slots , or more health , simply make no sense at all , where as gaining stamina , due to long periods of running , would make sense ( though relatively redundant with the mod since there is not really a stamina problem ) . FlashHawk4 44 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) As far as I'm concerned, the "bonuses" players should earn consist of the things they DO with the time they spend alive, as opposed to simply existing for a set amount of time. The incentive to stay alive shouldn't be more health, steadier aim, or anything like that...aside from the disease resistance (I'm rather partial to that idea, human immune systems after all produce antibodies even after a disease has faded, to prevent the body from catching the disease again). Also the gentleman above me pointed out that there's no workout program like wilderness survival ina zombie apocalypse, so therefore (as long as people remain well fed and hydrated), exercise should factor into this in a slight way. Slightly faster tree-cutting, slightly longer stamina, perhaps like 250-500 more blood, etc. With, of course, the assumption that you're actually doing stuff to earn this, instead of sitting in the corner of a warehouse.Anyway, I think the incentive should also come from more end-game options (we all know the current one is to basically arm up to Rambo status and then shoot people at airfields) than anything else. I'm not talking about winning. I'm talking about the ability to clear areas and make them (more or less) safe, and then start building up. Stuff like that. kebman 213 Posted February 11, 2013 I'm against it. However a title for surviving a long time is nice like, say "chicken".
Bribase 251 Posted February 12, 2013 I've been in two minds about character development. There is good reason for it to be included; making player death more significant and giving seasoned characters something to play for beyond the thrill of the hunt. You can also see a realistic explanation of it's inclusion; Surviving for days in a hostile environment would serve to make you "battle hardened". The problem is that heavy handed perks like better health, stamina or reflexes amounts to making the game easier for players that are already good at the game.I'd love to be able to identify veteran players in a subtle way that works with the other clothing they are wearing but a perk to health e.t.c. just doesn't seem like the way to go.
