Hey guys, I have been playing DayZ for about 3 weeks or so now and I have been enjoying it quite a lot, although I have never really had a successful life. Basically, this is my story about what happened to me today as I lost my best life yet (by a very long stretch) to what I believe was a hacker; I will post details and maybe you might know more about this than me, so you could help me out by putting closure on that life.

So, after having travelled up the map with my two friends, and visiting NWAF, we were pretty kitted out with and L85, M240, M4A1, NVGs stuff like that. Then, we decided to set up a camp on top of a hill overlooking the Podeba (I think) dam in the far North of the map. It seemed safe as from the dam you couldn't see our campfire and it was forested over. We had a few tents and then we began to find vehicles, we had in the end 3, which, considering as I have never found one before was quite cool.

Moving on to the last couple of hours. We all spawned in and met up at camp, after having been out collecting supplies in our truck. We parked up in the forest and saved all the vehicles, then proceeded to sort out our tents and that, getting ready for our next 'outing'. We were there for about 20 minutes, we filled up bottles at the dam and had some food, then all of a sudden our vehicles disappeared. About 20 seconds later, as two of us went out to investigate, I think some sort of turret appeared and mowed us down. My other friend D/C'd and survived but surely that is not legit? It was nighttime so maybe I am wrong but it sounded kind of like an AS50 but automatic.. Needless to say I was pissed; What I think is a hacker T/P'd to me only to kill me, he doesn't want my stuff just wants to piss me off. He succeeded!

I took the respawn and changed servers, I felt as if the original (De 695) was 'tainted'. I was near Elektro and I went in towards the church. There was a bus near the church in poor condition but a dead player nearby had a wheel which I took and attached to the bus, so it could move. I took it to the Elektro Industrial Park near the coast and fixed it up, but in the process I was shot, which broke my leg and made me pass out. I was unarmed so I guess he wanted my bus. However he never came to my body or finished me off so when I woke up with about 118 blood in crawled into the bus and took off towards Cherno where my friend was.

On the way, my friend told me over skype that he had been sniped; tbh I was getting tired of this random banditry and felt like leaving it. Then, as I continued along the road, a guy with a Makarov ran past and said he was friendly. He could have just shot me for my bus but he agreed to help me by giving me blood and morphine. So we went to the north Hospital in Cherno and he fixed me up, I offered him my bus to thank him but he turned it down. This restored my faith a bit in the DayZ community, because that guy could so easily have ended my life and took my full condition bus off with him for his needs. Now my character is in the Cherno Apartments, I hope this life can go better than my last.

tl;dr - Got killed by a hacker on a good life, found a bus in elektro nearly died (118 blood) met a friendly on road to Cherno who fixed me up without killing me for my bus. Faith restored.

I found a truck chock full of supplies and weapons today. I took it, now I have goodies. It's the first vehicle I've found in the game, and it was loaded. After about 10 days of simple surviving and not running into a soul, apparently I have been rewarded.

So I'm a little ways into my second life, and I end up at the power station north of Elektro. Long story short, I end up trapped on the roof trying to pick off all the zombies on the ground with a Lee and a revolver (I got 50 kills, btw). So I completely run out of ammo but take out all the zombies, and I head down to search for loot. Another zombie wanders up so I hide in the grass. Suddenly I hear "I'm not here to hurt you, but if you aim your gun at me I will shoot you." Bricks were shat.

Turned out this dude was cool, he said he heard all the frenzied gunshots from up on the hill with his buddies and got curious. When he saw me hiding, he figured I was a newb and wasn't a threat. Then when we went into the fire station, he saw a car drive by, and hoping they didn't see us, we hid. For the next half hour he escorted me around, telling me the do's and don'ts and where to find the best loot. I even used a bloodpack on him when a zombie knocked him into razor wire.

Shortly before I logged off, he told me that his group of friends were all bandits and that they had been hanging out in the hills around town sniping people. I realized that they had had multiple opportunities to shoot me before I even knew they were there. I asked him why he had been nice. He just said that when he saw how helpless I was, he took a liking to me.

Long story short, bandits are not inherently bad people, they just play the game different. My first real experience in Day Z was a positive one thanks to this guy.

EDIT: I'd just like to add that after all this, I logged back in... then immediately got shot and died. Didn't even have a chance to assess my surroundings. BAM. Dead.

I decided to go and loot some 'town', when all of the sudden, i heard a truck passing by. In my action, i just stopped and waited for the truck to vanish.

After a few minutes, the same truck comes by and goes, not noticing me at all until it stops at a 4-way intersection. I stared at the truck, and the driver stared at me for a good 30 seconds,

then one of the guys decided to eject/leave the truck, but since they already alerted a SHIT-TON of infected he went right back in. They started honking at me, like they're signaling me to get in the

truck. I, thinking for a second, decided to join in with the fun :). At a split second, it look like they started to drive away from me but i got in safely, ignoring the fact they tried to leave be in a hoard of

infected, i thought 'meh'.

After i got in, being a friendly survivor as i can, i asked them if they wanted a ghillie suit or a camo suit [i was a female, so i couldn't wear them]

NCB : You guys want a ghille suit or a camo?

??? : camo please

NCB : Since im a female character i cant wear them

[NCB <- me :)] [A rough chat log that i think seems about right]

So we all got out, [ I should of stole the truck, but i'm no bandit ] but there STILL was a shit-ton of zombies so i proceeded to help kill the zombies.

Now this is where i get backstabbed. As i killed a good 2-4 zombies, the truck went and got 'a closer look at me' but then went TOO close.[it ran me over, i think that was an accident maybe]

In short,

I see truck -> the honk -> got in -> asked them if they wanted camo or ghillie [Was a female character] -> We all got out -> Shitton of zombies appeared -> Decided to fend off the zombies -> Get ran over by what i thought was a friend

Me and a buddy were logged out near Devil's Castle. When we logged in, for some reason, he spawned back on Kamenka with all his gear intact. Weird, but okay, he starts working his way back north while I loot the castle, the north-west airfield and head for Stary Sobor. I head into the supermarket first, then the brick buildings nearby for the off chance that camo or ghillie suits would spawn there. Before I get to the military tents, I hear gunshots from there, so I ran back to the supermarket and took up a defensible position. More gunshots, more gunshots, and after a while, silence.

After a few minutes of silence, I look about, and decide he wasn't here for anything but the military tents and head out to see if I can get whatever he left behind. That's when I hear a vehicle moving on the outskirt of Stary, near the military tents. I ask my friend whether I should open fire, leave him be, or even ask him for a ride down south. I hide and look around in third person, just on the other side of a wall outside the supermarket. Turns out it was a Ural, and he stopped just outside the back of the supermarket to loot it. I had a chance and started moving. I was aiming to just steal the truck and drive off with it while he looked through the supermarket.

He shot zombies, though, which alerted just about every zombie in Stary, and they cut off my only approach. He did get into his truck and drove off, but I followed for a bit. The first moment I had, I opened fire, shooting the back of the truck. He seemed to slow down, but he drove under a hill and just like that, he was gone. My heart was pounding, but I quickly calmed myself. The server had nameplates on, though I can't recall the name now, I pressed p.

He wasn't in the server anymore.

He combat logged on me. Just in time too, because I heard the vehicle explode. I ran there to save it, real quick, lest he get it back because of a server restart. When I was safe I checked the player list again, I saw he was back. Never in my time in DayZ have I felt so cheated. Shortly after I heard gunfire again and got shot by a sniper I never saw, a bit south of Stary.

During this time, my friend hears a vehicle, and drops low, considering hitching a ride. They had seen him, apparently, because they all jumped out and opened fire in his direction. He had ran behind a few bushes before he dropped, so he died as well.

I had no idea where to go, so I started following the powerlines, hoping they would lead me to a nice big building with lots of loot.

Instead I found a military watch tower. So after being chased by 3 soldier zombies, I lost them and came across a little gas station.

The door was open, and 2 zombies walked out. So I waited till they got up the hill a little.

I went in, found some food, some ammo clips, and road flares.

The zombies started coming back so I decided it was time to make a move and leave.

I started crawling out of the door prone, and then the door broke all my bones, and I got the shakes.

Tried to stand up but fell down. So I threw my flares, and let the zombies kill me.

....Don't crawl through doors on your stomach.

What a night.

I've been trying to teach my friend, who can only play about 2 nights a week (and only for a few hours each night), the ropes of this game, when I myself am a relative noob. We started off trying to meet up at the Balota airstrip, and eventually succeeded. I killed a guy named "Hades" in the interim, and he seemed to think I was a prick for doing so, but I was hungry and thirsty and out of tasty beverages and snacks. What's a survivor to do?

Anyway, we dicked around trying to meet up for a while, and managed to on several occasions, and stayed near to Balota. After a brief foray away and subsequent return, at the far kwanza hut was a pristine GAZ. At this point I think something fishy is going on, and we decide to cautiously enter. My friend sets up on overwatch while I run out to the car - note that this is my first time ever operating any, ANY, vehicle in DayZ/ARMA; also note that this happens to be a server with nametags on, which I am not used to! I go over to the driver's side, looking over the roof, and see a figure running out from the building...some "GAZ" fellow (hurr durr hurr...). I say, "Hey, I think I see someone named GAZ! Are you running around right now?" Now, for some reason, my friend answers that question with, "No, light that fucker up!"

So I do, only to immediately realize - to both of our horror - that it is indeed he that I have just injected hot lead into. I ran over and bandaged him, but he had less than 2000 life at this point. We shuffle back into the kwanza hut, with me offering profuse apologies while asking why he said he wasn't running around, and he pretty much gives up on playing for the night. But I convince him to soldier on, and while he waits there I go back for the car. We're going to make a Cherno-or-bust run, knowing we're probably as good as dead.

While I'm away from him for a brief moment, he encounters someone, and manages to kill them with a revolver - all while he has blurred vision, barely any blood, and is literally passing out under any sort of stress.

It turns out this person has: a ghillie suit (was wearing it), range finder, GPS, nightvision, AS50, epi-pen, antibiotics, ALICE pack, all survival gear, etc etc etc.I take everything of use besides the weapon - I figure there's at least a decent chance this is all hacked, and don't want to take any sort of ridiculous weaponry. My friend resigns himself to death given his poor life, and I oblige him with a .45 to the head. Unfortunately, he respawned in Elektro, where he went on to have a few adventures of his own before calling it a night.

But as for myself, I got in the GAZ, and started driving eastbound...and down. After a short way, I got out to check a building for food (that dead survivor had had awesome gear, but nothing edible...), and had to run from a zed. I managed to lose it in some bushes, but it had hit me, and I somehow broke my leg and passed out before I could bandage. So I had to watch as I bled out from over 11k life, unconscious and never stablizing. It sucked.

I spawned again, this time on the outskirts of Komarovo. Still close to where I just died, all is good in Chernarus. Except...it seems Komarovo has been nuked. And in front of me, not 100m away, is a fully functional bus. Empty. Wtf?

At this point, I know something is up. There are shenanigans afoot. But I can't resist driving that big rig, so I hop in and make my way over to Balota. As I barrel down the airstrip with nothing to lose, I can see another surivor in the woods behind the airstrip, watching and thinking he's sneaky in his Yankee blue jeans. As I approach my old GAZ (and my old corpse), I park the bus so as to shield me for a minute while I loot the corpse. I manage to regain everything, EVERYTHING, and I feel great! I run a short distance away, look back to make sure I am clear of followers, and log to go smoke. Did I mention that at this point I'm feeling great?

I come back a few minutes later, log in to the same server (mistake?), and spawn in the right location, but with the same gear as a fresh survivor (i.e. - essentially nothing...). Jesus Histrionic Christ! I'm not far from where the car, and my former corpse, lay. I run over, and the corpse now has the identical gear that I myself am now sporting. KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, this has all been frustrating. My friend calls it a night after killing some people before himself dying in Elektro, and I decide to hop in the cursed GAZ and drive full speed towards Cherno. Cherno or bust! On the way, at the gas station, there were two cars with survivors inside! (thanks, cheap nametag feature, for making it so obvious!) Naturally, I ram into the side of the closest car - another GAZ - while yelling "Arriba! Arriba! Andale, andale!" I back up and ram it again for good measure, while the second vehicle swings around to ram me and protect his friend. When he fails at doing so, and instead rams his friend, he decides to instead hop out and point his AS50 - wait, what!? - at me. After one shot, old Gazzer was done for. I lamely turned in circles at 5 kph while he lined me up and put Gazzer out of her misery. I hopped out, and made it 2 steps before being taken down like some sort of African bush grazer.

So, after finishing another beer and reflecting on life for a bit, I decide on one more go. I join a different server this time, and again spawn right outside of Balota (my spawns were amazingly lucky tonite, tbh), and make a beeline for the airfield. In the woods outside of the control tower, I hear flies abuzz. It's pretty dark, but after I look around I find 2(!) survivors' corpses. Between them, they have everything I lost previously and then some. And all is right in the world.

It just goes to show that you should never give up, even when the bullshit is neck high and you are questioning if you want to keep playing. DayZ giveth and DayZ taketh away. Accept it, keep playing, and soon enough you will be having fun again.

Short but sweet.

this happened bout 2 weeks ago. i had just died from zeds that got lucky when i passed out while they were chasing me, i respawn by the S airfield. i head over to the litlle camp just outside the airfield to loot the deer huts but the place has zeds everywhere (inclueding in the huts) so i say f it and head just b line it to the atc tower. just as i pass the first hanger going east to west i start getting shot at and i get hit. i start saying "stop shooting im just a starter i have nothing" but just more bullets wiz by my head so i run into the 2nd hanger hoping for a gun. i see a loot pile and go to it. i find a grenade, im like "perfect" and im still talking saying i have nothing. at this point the person shooting at me is outside the hanger and im behind the container. so i pull the pin and throw the grenade the the se corner of the hanger in hopes of the bandit to come in on that side, a second after throwing it the bandit come in from where the grenade is. BOOM! the grenade goes off but the bandit is still standing "damnit" i run out the hanger than i see in the text window that the bandit that was trying to kill me died. im just like yes! i go over to the body and see a zed over it, at this point i thought the zed finished off the bandit. i loot her body to get the m1014 and kill the zed. i than realize im bleeding and bandage myself and continue to loot the body. as im walking away i look at my debug moniter and see that i have 4k blood left and that i had a bandit kill, justice served.

to all bandits dont kill starters it may be the end of you :P

The Day the soldier reached the sky

*Max Payne's voice* One day, I was strolling around the ruins of the Chernarus landscape, looking fro God know's what; food, water, or maybe a filled whiskey bottle for these painkillers I had stashed. The last few days were resumed by firefights with many of my friends being victims and me being a stroke of luck. This time though, no one would help me out of a bad spot if I ever happened to stumble around a desperate loot addict with the unfortunate fact of having a firearm and enough will between his ears to attempt doing something funky on me.

Arriving at the Rog Castle searching for what many would look, I had the decent surprise of hearing loud gunshots coming from inside the tower. It was also night time so I figured these Night Vision Goggles would come in handy. Waiting patiently down the tower for this no-brainer to come down, I finally lost patience and sneaked up the tower (Picking up ammo on the way) Once on the top I was mostly surprised by what I was shown with; There never was anyone but a strange friend was staring me down; Mr. Sheep. He was just looking around, disoriented. Seeing how I was running low on food I decided I would end the poor bastard's life of strolling around aimlessly eating grass. I put 3 bullet of an M1911 in his guts. He collapse to the brick floor and I proceed to gut him out. But yet again, bad things seem to happen when you less expect it. What turned out to be a strange yet harmless pawn of nature was actually turning alot more dreaded... and human. He was human yet he did not assume the appearance of such. Seconds after this witness I was instantly projected into the skies at crazy velocity.... and crashed to the ground..... as well as the 34 other people on the server.

Morale of the story: Lower populated servers are safer.

The End.

Well, this story makes me look like a dick, but I will get to that in a bit.

I previously died from a sniper in the city of Cherno, so to my amazement I spawned right by Cherno. I go in do my usual pick up a few supplies and get the hell out. As I'm walking the coast three noobies come to me and start asking me a whole bunch of questions, where's this where's that is that Cherno!?!?!?!? Me, being the loner guy that I am in this game starts to get a little bit paranoid, so I ask them, who's watching you? They all start yelling into their mics WE DONT GOT NO PEEPS WATCHING US. Yeah, just like that. So I'm already agitated because I hate standing on the coast, it kills people. I just start saying alright, go on get now, the city is straight up there. So I start running. And running. Then... I see the three stooges again. Following me. So I'm now frustrated because I hate dead weight, so I say "If you three don't scamper out of here I'm going to drop all three of you." They just laugh it off like it's nothing.

I shot all three of them will my pretty little lee enfield. Three murders in 20 minutes from meeting to end, I might as well start off as a bandit. So that's the life I'm leading now.

So I get on uk6 this afternoon and spawn by the factory in Cherno. I check out the nearest house. Nothing but a pile of empty cans. I can hear the bastards growling down below but the bushes are thick, so I prone up through the field towards the wall outside the factory.

I think of making for the gate when I hear his breath. Just beside where I am lying, on the other side of the wall. Has he tracked me from the nearby hill? When will it come, and how? With the hatchet or the bullet? I am helpless, and lie perfectly still beneath the bushes.

I hear a shot. Then nothing. It cracks out again, right behind me. Then nothing. Then another. I hear movement, then silence. I dare not move.

Those minutes freeze the piss in me, but I can bear it no longer and get to my feet, resigned to die rather than cower in the hedge. I get through the gap in the wall and...nothing.

Skirting round the landside of the building I find a ladder, gain the roof, then the far end. I climb down, stupidly visible for miles, but unharmed. The grunts of the infected are everywhere, but I still cannot see them.

When I hit the ground the madness begins. Some lunatic roars past In a car playing the most demented music I have heard outside my opium dreams.

He is invisible due to the wall, but keeps insanely beeping the horn and playing what can only be described as Russian circus music from the car stereo. I did not expect to hear some vodka-crazed gopnik's banging tunes booming from his 'ride' in an infested wasteland, but there was more to come.

I cried out, 'what the fuck is going on here? Is the circus in town?' but the mentalist behind the wheel preferred to let his boom box do the talking. I ran to the wall and dropped behind a tree, whilst he tootled and parped and revved crazily back and forth.

This has to be a set up. Some kind of psyops-designed to send me as mad as them. It's working.

Then i spot some guy's name tag in the distance. I call him and announce myself as friendly. He says nothing.

This time I am certain I am going to die. Not only that, but I am going to die to the sound of deranged carnival music.

I wait for the bandit to finish me when the chopper comes whipping down, studding the ground with hi calibre ordnance. First goes Coco the clown and his parpmobile, then the (now two) dudes in the field. I wait until the explosions die down and the chopper has gone before looting the dead.

Twenty minutes in and I have a gps, silenced red dot rifle, nvg, map, matches...and a coyote full of goodies. Life is absurd, sometimes more than others, but it is seldom this kind.

The Rainbow

The last two days were the most terrifying of my life. I saw things that I have never seen before and did things I never could have imagined I could do.

I was washed up on shore near a big city. I did not know where I was or how I got there. But I knew I was in trouble. After walking up a little hill I knew why. People were walking around in the streets, backyards and around the houses of this city. But not like I was used to. They were stumbling around, walking without a place to go to. Moaning, screaming! They looked dead to me. Far from any usual human behavior. But I see a place to go to. All the way behind the city is what appears to be a huge tower with windows in it. Although I'm not especially familiar with these things, I see some sort of a switchyard next to it. Without much thinking I make my way up to it, making sure to attract one of those...things.

As I enter the tower building I am just astonished and relieved at the same time. There is stuff on the ground. Usefull stuff. I get my hands onto some canned food and drinks, flares, an axe and the best of all...a revolver with some ammo. As I climb up the stairs in the tower I realize I must be in a firestation. There are hoses haning down from the roof of the tower, all the way to the bottom. I freeze as I hear footsteps. They are slow but steady, comming up the stairs. I pull out the revolver I just found. The weapon is heavy and feels unfamiliar in my hands.

I still can't quite recall what happened next. I started shooting at a man who came up the stairs. I don't know why. I paniced. Maybe it was the barrel of a rifle pointing at my face or the thought that this could be one of those things I saw earlier on the streets.

Next thing I know is that I am lying on the floor of the firestation, bleeding. My ears are ringing, my vision is blurry and my whole body just hurts like hell. As I look down I see my left leg beeing heavily injured. Not having anything to bandage myself with, I start searching for something useful on the dead mans body. I find a bandage and patch myself up as good as I can. After that, I just grap all the things I can from the dead body and start running. Up another big hill, through woods and past fields. I run for at least one hour when I fall unconscious.

It must have been a long sleep for me because when I woke up, the sun was already up. I slept at least 8 hours. Totally exhausted from the events yesterday. Still, I had to go on. My breakfast wasn't the best, but still better than nothing. I started walking.

Now I am sitting here, under a big pine tree. It just started raining. I am frustrated. I didn't eat much. My leg still hurts and I think I am pretty much deaf on my left ear. I saw more of those monsters on my way up here. Still don't know where they come from.

I think back to my family and friends, wondering what happened to them and if I will ever see them again. I wonder if this man I killed had family. Maybe children? Or a wife? What have I done?

I doubt myself. Can I go any further? Can I stay alive? Will I meet other people? And how will I react then?

Suddenly the clouds break and the sun is comming out, just a little bit to paint this wonderful rainbow in the sky. For me it is a sign of hope. I swallow my last bite of the caned noodles, pack my things and start walking. Although my body is still sore and my leg still hurts...I am confident.

I see the rainbow.

My buddy and I were doing a night time run of Stary and as we approached the supermarket we noticed that the front doors were already closed. We cleared the building and then moved to the apartment, I was experiencing a huge amount of weird lag and I was moving at less than half the speed of my friend. I told him to wait up and when he turned around to look at me he noticed a survivor less than 20 meters behind me that neither of us noticed before because of a combination of my bitching and general loose butthole behavior. The survivor opened up on us and killed me before I even turned around. My friend took cover behind a bush, but was quickly taken out as well. The guy had a silenced m4. We re-spawned and were going to run back to our corpses and pick up what our killer couldn't take with him. I just logged for the night because I was lagging so hard that my full sprint was slower than a crouch walk and it would have taken me the rest of the night to get to stary from cherno at that pace. My teammate got back to our bodies and the guy must have been really well equipped because all he took was my m4 cco, ammo and food/water. He left both of our alice packs and my buddy's gps. He also left an AKM behind. We absolutely had this coming. We were lulled into a false sense of security by the low server pop, and more concerned with zombies than with the fact that we were in a high pvp area, also I should have bailed out as soon as I started lagging like I did where I did.

This is the story of my epic fail, with a happy ending.

Sooo, I get bored of stalking the city waiting for a clan to come in their van so i could shoot it with my M16A2 M203 HE launcher and i decide to head to Devil's castle and look for bandits/clans people there. On the way I see a cow. Instead of wasting my ammo on this bovine, i decide to use my hatchet. So I drop my gun on the ground and precede to hack at the cow. However, it doesn't die and starts walking away. I follow it for about 20 or so meters and eventually kill it and take its meat. As i walk back, i realize how hard it is to see items on the ground, at least for me... After 5 minutes of pacing around, I hear gunshots and freak out, reluctant to leave my gun. The cow body disappeared and I eventually say F*** it, Im the Joker, screw loot, ill kill some bandits at Devil's castle  . I take out my M14 from my pack and run to Devil's castle. I look to my left and see my first downed helicopter. I crawl to the heli and find an AWS. :D yay me. The End.

I was at the NEAF, my buddy had fresh spawned in and run to Stary to the mil tents. Low pop server in the middle of the night, about 10 people on. He loots the tents only to have a zombie punch him and break his leg on the first go. I'm about 6km away at the NEAF so I start to leg it towards Stary. He cleared out all the gear in the tents slowly, painstakingly. When I'm about 500m away he declares "I found morphine!" and proceeds to loot more tents. So now I'm about 200m away but the graphical glitches are getting me bad. So I'm prone between a wall and a bush fiddling with my settings trying to get it fixed when two quick shots ring out from my right - DMR about 200m away I guess. My buddy is dead outside the tents.

I continue to lay prone and try and see where the shots came from. I can't look towards Stary because of the glitches still so I'm having a hard time doing anything. After about 10 minutes later I see a wookie come down, guille suit and all to my right. I was in a bad position to fire but he didn't see me. Finally - he stops standing behind a tree about 50m to my right, looking into the city, checking for more players. I see my chance, and come up to my knee, line up his head slowly and put two quick bullets from my M4 into his head. Dead. By far the most intense experience I've had in DayZ so far. Wait around for a few minutes before I go across to his body. Sure enough - guille suit, NVG, DMR, MP5SD, M9SD, plenty of supplies and the like. I'm just done looting his guns when shots ring out nearby and I absolutely LEG it over the hill to the north east and don't stop running until 2km are between me and the downed bad guy. So for the price of my friends life, we'd got an NVG and DMR!

Funnily enough - next day a group of four are running towards Stary again at night, using my new NVGs and come across a tent. And another tent. Both Empty. And sitting next to them? A pickup in the tree!! We just take the car because we're paranoid and 2 of us head back to our camp to save it and check it out leaving me and another guy to head to Stary. They get back to camp and check the car - AS50, Bizon SD, FN FAL with night scope. Those guys are gonna be PISSED - it wasn't even in their tents, it looked like they'd saved everything in their car... But we figured if that sorta thing was in their car, they probably had better gear so it was just as well we legged it outta that camp. Might setup an ambush over there sometime soon with their newly looted AS50 in tow :-D

This is my tale that is the current character I have now, unforunately when battlEye has began to constantly kick me. Until I find a fix, here you guys go :P.

The sun was in the middle of the sky, shining bright and strong. I spawned on the coast of Kamenka, the far southwest of Chernarus. My group had created a temporary meeting placed we had used a lot, which was a gas station sitting next to a rail road, somewhere between Balota and Chernogorsk. I sighed and began to sprint along the coast, avoiding zombies and hoping not to get found by a group of bandits. As I ran across I had slowly been moving my self away from the coast, and when I had been near the gas station, I froze in fear. I heard the sound of a silenced sniper ring past my ear Immediately I sprinted back to the coast and hit the deck behind the cover of a hill. I didn't want to be cheap and abort; And so I stayed prone and slowly crawled, ignoring the gas station and the other small villages near by and finally pulling myself into Chernogorsk. Now, my group had began to move north when they heard me say there was a sniper nearby, so I was on my own for the time being. I had started to get near-red on food and water, and so I decided to raid the nearby grocery store for supplies. While I attracted the horde in along with me, it had been a lucky day, as the grocery store was ample with gear. I had found a revolver and 6 mags for it, an ALICE pack, a hunting knife, tons of food and water, a box of matches, a watch, and a compass. Praising my fortune, I was caught off guard by the amount of infected in the store. Because they have to walk in-doors, I was able to take all dozen of them out with swift headshots from my revolver. However, I still had been a little cocky and briefly forgot to bandage myself, bringing my blood down to about 9500.

I had a nice meal of canned sardines and a coca-cola before moving to the far back of the store to get the last of the loot, when I started freaking out; I had been surrounded by zombies. I took nearly all of them out, except for a select one or two. And these one or two had managed to get my blood below 9k and knock me out. At this point I had been thinking I was doomed, and while I had woken up with 5k blood still, I lacked a bandage and was bleeding out. Fast. I took care of the last two zombies, ran through the store looking for a bandage, and was horrified when I couldn't find one. Now, I had been recording these events to my steam group in voice chat, so luckily one of my team members had come just in time, bandaged me up, and gave me a blood transfusion just before I had dropped to 2k blood.

Feeling newly rejuvenated, me and my team mate had ran out of the store and had worked our way back to where everyone else was. We had decided it was a good idea to raid the fire station in hopes of finding a few of us that lacked a good primary weapon an assault rifle or shotgun. We traveled along the treeline and entered the fire station from the back. My team mate that saved me went up the stairs first and found another guy, a survivor, crouched down overlooking the scene. He must've missed us as we came in through the back of the fire station. Before the guy could turn around, he immediately took a bullet to the face, my team mate laughing maniacally. He had some good gear on him, but unfortunately I was the last to make it up and missed the good stuff. However, it seemed I still had a little bit of luck left, as I had found an AKS-74 Kobra and 2 mags of ammo laying on the far corner of the station before we left. Feeling like a badass toting around my new assault rifle, we began to hook around and head into the treeline again.

We had just began to figure out where to go when another of our team members had spawned. He had been started off in Komarovo, and so we decided to go to the gas station we had set-up as a way point before and decided the sniper was probably long gone by now. After we all met up there, we decided to head through the forest until we came upon east Chernogorsk. We had laid out a plan, and had decided to raid the hospital and apartments in eastern Cherno to fill up on supplies before heading out on a very long journey to Solnichniy. After sprinting through the woods and finally coming across what appeared to be east Cherno, we heard the sound of a sniper rifle ring out. Desperate, we sprinted deeper into the woods and hit the deck. Now, one of my friends had a pretty good sniper rifle, and luckily he had been able to find the culprit that had tried to snipe us pretty quickly. Now, we were still nearly a kilometer away, and so my friend had missed the shot. However, it seemed to freak the guy out as he seemed to disappear. He might have disconnected, he might have just hid, but we decided it was now or never.

My friend who was the sniper decided to cover us while we ran towards the hospital. Running behind the cover of the hospital to make sure we were still safe from the sniper, one of my friends quickly ran out and broke the hospital glass with his hatchet and we all desperately tried to get in. Unfortunately, through all this commotion, a huge horde of zombies had caught sight of us. While we rushed inside, one of my friends fired off an AK, and one of the rounds had hit me in the leg, broke it, and rendered me unconscious. Crap. I surely thought I was dead this time. But just before I bled out, I got jerked awake by an epi-pen, was bandaged, and got yet another blood transfusion. Wow. I had nearly died twice already. I decided we needed to be much more careful from here on out. Once we looted the apartments and the hospital, which were both full of useful items, we went back into the woods and began the journey to Solnichniy.

Most of the journey consisted of just sprinting, and so to make it short, we had come across the last little village before Solnichniy, which was still miles away. Deciding to loot this town, there happened to be a lot of zombies and so we retreated to a barn, looted it out, and fought off all the zombies. After this, we sprinted away and never looked back. No more stops after that. And so, after a long while of more sprinting, we had finally reached Solnichiy. Now, we were going to log off soon, and so we decided to raid a tiny little shed before leaving. Bad idea. To make it short, we were almost instantly surrounded by hordes of infected, and we couldn't even escape there were so many. Finally, me and my team had escaped through a narrow gap. Not knowing what to do, we ran up to a little hill when I remembered I had looted a smoke grenade from one of the apartments and remembered they can distract zombies. I threw it and, sure enough, the zombies stopped in their tracks.

After bandaging up and handing around a few more blood transfusions, as well as having some food and drink, our team had logged off. However, this isn't the end of our story. As it turns out, while most of my team members had left in the same spot and were asleep, one of them sprinted all the way to Willow Lake, north of Berezino. Reluctantly, I agreed to meet up with him just north of Nizhnoye. After we had met up, we killed any zombies following me and headed back up into the woods. Willow Lake was a place of relative peacefulness. If you had a water bottle, water was always available. If you could make a fire, cooked meat was always around the corner. And the best part? Zombies don't spawn there and most players never even go near it; It was perfect for a camp. And so I had began to get excited for our eventual arrival. But I was bound to get even more excited.

While most of our journey was, again, sprinting and gutting animals, we had one lucky streak; we were less than a kilometer away from the lake, entering an open field when my friend spots a crashed helicopter less than a 100 meters north of us. I immediately remember tales of amazing weapons being found here, and I nearly fell over in excitement. However, almost instantly a horde of 40+ military zombies spawn. Crap. Being extra careful, we slowly crawl over to the chopper to find ourselves in weapon heaven; FN FALs, M107s, Bizon SDs, and the weapon I had ultimately ended up taking, the MK 48 Mod 0. After equipping ourselves to suit our needs, we had slowly snuck away and then sprinted to Willow Lake. We had made a fire, cooked some meat, and filled up on water. Having our needs (and blood) restored, we waited for the rest of the team to meet up there. We had a lot of work ahead.

To be continued... (If I can fix my damn game :P )

This story is kinda long so wait around until it picks up :D.

So me and my friends got on skype and decided to play Day z. As far as experience in this game, we have all been playing together for about a week. All of us have been playing before, but we were't MLG players or anything. We did our thing and shot on sight like most players and we played on low player servers for the most part. So tonight we were starting on somewhat new characters. I was in electro and my friend a.j was too. My other friend austin was on top of a hospital in cherno around the apartment buildings. He was in the glitch wall on the hospital waiting. Since we all had bad experiences in electro, a.j and I decided to go to electro. He was still loading in at the time so I went lone wolf to austin.

As I was going I decided to stop at Prigatorky and loot the barn. Not taking the stealth factor I ran into the barn. I had and akm at the time with 4 mags and a makarov with 4 mags. I had about 5 or 6 agros and already went up the stairs of the barn. I was now trapped with 6 agros coming up the stairs. I decided to play my luck and jump off the stairs and hope for the best. Of course I was too high up and broke my bones and passed out. The zombies then killed me. My friend was loaded in and was making his way to cherno at this time. He said he saw my body when he passed the barn. I was luck enough to get back to my body and get all my stuff back. Around this time my friend reached the hospital and was shot. So Austin, the one in the glitch, rolled out to look for him and found him and then killed him. eventually, we were all at the hospital. My friend got his stuff and we were in the glitch debating who should loot the other guys since we heard shot nearby we decided we shouldn't loot it. Since we were playing on a server with 20 people, we decided to go to a server with 40 people to get more action. When we joined heard lost of gun shots around us since we were in cherno. Someone bullets sounded like they were shooting us but beyond further investigation, we found he was below us. He had a sniper and a ghillie suit. So a.j rolled out and tried to get a shot on him but couldn't get one. So he was about to roll back in when all of sudden *YOU ARE DEAD*.

A hacker mass murdered the whole server. Spawing in komovo I raced for our stuff. No use as our bodies despawned along with everybody else's in the server. My friend austin kept killing him self to get a good spawn and ended up staying in electro when I told him the bodies were gone. Here is where is gets good. My friend austin sees a guy in a black suv. The guy drives up to austin in the suv and honks to invite him in. Having no weapons, my friend austin said sure, why not. Me and a.j made it to the suv too. He said take some gear in the trunk. This guy had 3 m4a3 cco with flashlights in the truck along with 3 coyote packs and 23 mags for the m4a3's. My friend glitched the coyote pack so I didnt have one. He also had an as50 in the trunk too. This guy was SOOOO cool. He picked up a random dude(austin) and let his friends come to the car too and then let us take his guns and roll with him. So we were driving around now with gear and camo clothing. So now we had to drive through cherno to get to our next destination. As we drove all of the sudden shots opened up at the car. There must of been 5 or 6 people shooting the car but we were able to drive through without damage. The next awesome thing happened when we were driving to green mountain.

We ran into 2 guys on a quad. They were surprisingly friendly and had crashed their atv into a sign. The guy who picked us up offered to fix the atv. All of the sudden they went rogue and then threw a frag at our car and d/c. Luckily the car we were in was like a tank. It didn't even damage from the frag and the car was extremely strong. He admitted that he hacked the car in but all his other stuff was legit. Since they d/c he decided to satchel the atv and tehn blew it up which looked awesome. We then blew up another house for the fun of it. We were driving when some random dude got in our car and said friendly. He said to add him on skype so we did and we talked to this new guy. He then asked us to get out of the car when the awesome guy who wasnt on skype tried to run him over. And then we realise he had god mode on. He had killed us except the guy who picked us up. He was still alive and counter hacked and overided his god mode and killed him. The hacker, being the dick he was, then killed the whole server.

Leave it to a hacker to ruin things and to be a dick, but that was my funniest time on day z ever.

So on a new guy i had to make, i decided to directly go loot some military equipment north by northeast of Cherno. I found myself in quite some luck. After scrounging some meds in the medical tents with my hatchet, i heard small arms fire (pistol) near me and, as military spawns are quite the feast for starting players there, i decided to rush quickly through the 2 military tents as of i only had a hatchet and no way to protect myself (and since people shoot you for 2 cans of beans and a coke). So, another luck i had was that i came across an M16A2 rifle with 1 mag and some other stuff in there and when i walked out of the most northern tent, i saw this guy with his back to me going into one of the medical tents. i swear to you, this was the first time in like 3 days (i only started then) since I was the one who spotted someone and not the way around.

I decided to be a little friendly, since i know how a bitch it is if u get killed from outa nowhere and such, so i said to him i saw him, and he had 1 minute to bail it outa here. The guy RUSHES into one of the military tents, hoping to get a decent gun. I figured he had a Makarov since he was probably the one i heard shooting earlier. As like 10 minutes past, me trying to talk him to just leave, and me crouching near the northern tent only a few meters away, my aiming vision is constantly blocked by medium-height grass, i decided to take a hike for it. I stood up, ran like a mule to the north by northeast 'small hill' where i crocuhed again.

I figured by now he heard me as i saw his head leaning out from the northern tent, seeing if i left him whole or i was stalking my prey... Next thing i know, this dude walks out, aims at me and fires a couple of shots. This was the most intense stress i had in like weeks!

Now i figured, it's him or me, and shit it sure as hell won't be me. My vision still blocked by medium-tall grass, i took aiming position and unleashed 6 shots as to where i thought he might be. I hoped i'd killed him, but no 'murder' count was increased (still on 0). HOLY SH1T what to do now? As i feared for my life, i rushed all around the big factory building, slowly taking my time trying to asses in what mess i got myself into in close quarters, i took a good aim and what did you know, he bled out right infront of the tent. Murder count : 1 (although i tried to settle things peacefully).

This all took longer than half an hour, and i bet this guy's thoughts were something alike : him or me, and it won't be me.

BEST zombie mod / game ever!

I had the worst run of my life today.

>Joins a maxed server for first time.

>Legging it off the coast like it was Omaha Beach.

>Searches for weapons for an hour, only finds empty spawns and god. damn. hatchets.

>Paranoid of players.

>Never sees a player.

>Stands on a rock. Suddenly legs snap like brushwood in a gale.

>Fixes legs, goes in to Cherno, desperate for even the measeliest Makarov.

>Zombies spawning, hands shaking, and I'm swinging that hatchet like Michael J. Fox in a bee swarm.

>???

>Helicopter lands on me. B)

I think I'm going to start recording this shit.

Another day, another departure into the hinterlands of the possible.

It begins with the med thread. I see massa needs help, and offer to find him with cooked meat and to escort him off the NWAF. Yet I a thwarted by my home Internet going down.

I finally get back online and he is gone. Trouble is, I had to prone over the NWAF to reach him, and now I am lying on the airstrip itself like a sitting duck. This is where my bad luck leaves me to be picked off by the first camper who spots me.

So I hit up the thread and see that Dogmaster is in a bad way in a nearby town. Zaebos473 also says he will help. He's a probation medic needing one more job before he gets white listed. Hopefully I'll get there too.

So we mess around with a few servers, and it takes us an aeon to get on together. We find one and it is a nervous wait as I am 'loading' to see how many more seconds of life I have in game. I tried the low population servers but we could not all get connected. This one is 27/40, and looks frosty.

My character creates- I stand up and run like hell, all the while my patient and Zaebos the bodyguard's steam messages pinging in my ear. Shit, shit, shit! I am panting IRL as I gain first the fence, then the woods, and finally prone in relative safety to reply.

It is a long run over open ground to get to my bodyguard, and despite coordination by steam chat I end up giving him something of a start. I see him on gps behind me, and say 'hello there'. We cross the road away from the Zeds, and I tell him about this very attractive cow I have just passed on the way.

We decide to skirt the town and enter via nearby woods. Zaebos is a very genial chap indeed and so I get to asking him whether he has met many decent players before.

'Decent? What do you mean?'

'Decent as in 'don't shoot in the face on sight.'

The warm flicker of shared compassion passes between us in a flash, and is suddenly exploded. A voice sounds loudly in our ears,

'Alright lads!'

...and there he is. Three metres away. Bush wookie.

I have never seen a ghillie sniper before, and this one I will certainly never forget. He patiently waits as we both gibber 'medic!'- Zaebos explains where our patient is- and he coolly and rather amiably tells us he will stop by.

'tell your mate to look out for a motorbike. I'll just get my friends' he says, and then is off.

Zaebos and I get to giggling about the profound shock our shaggy new friend just gave us both, as he rapidly melts into the underbrush. We wonder whether it was wise to tell him about our patient, but when we see him next it is not in Valhalla.

Our noble bush wookie over watches our arrival in town, with his friend on point. He gently gibes us,

'having fun crawling around in the grass, lads?'

'we haven't all got ghillie suits, smartypants' I reply, airily.

'you will in a minute' he says.

Oo

We decide to run to the shop where our casualty lay, with myself and Zaebos providing a singsong Yackety Sax as we dash through the aggroed Zeds. When we arrive we see our 'patient' ghillied up, in the pink and armed to the teeth.

Our two shaggy friends give us both ghillie suits, ammo, blood, morphine, a rangefinder....it goes on. Did I forget to mention the ATV?

Yes. An ATV as well.

Shark, Grant- the bush wookie heroes of two now very giddy rookie medics, we salute you. Their firepower and their arsenal is rivalled only by their immense benevolence.

Now that, ladies, gentlemen, and you shambling infected, is what we mean when we say 'decent'.

Ps Zaebos and I will in future be performing medic jobs IN GHILLIE SUITS ON AN ATV. Do not be afraid. Thank Shark and his buddies for the awesome, and enjoy the blood and meds that his largesse will now bring you all the swifter.

@Bernd: Yeah, that was quite an interesting adventure.

I started off on the top of the roof of the big building in Vybor, after some dude had shot me to shit before I crawled behind cover. I managed to bandage myself up, but only had 800 blood and a broken leg.

I posted in the medic thread asking for assistance, and Bernd offered his up, along with his partner Zaebos. Nice guys. We eventually found a server we could all join, and then I just had to wait whilst they travelled to me. They told me they'd met a guy named shark on the way, but they werent sure if he was a friendly guy or a bandit. I crawled off the roof and into a room inside the building, to make the healing process much safer and quicker for all involved.

After what seemed like an age of waiting, I saw a dude in a ghillie suit approaching. I asked Bernd if it was him or Zaebos, but he said it wasnt. Nervous times.

I asked the guy if he was the shark guy I'd been told about, and he said that yes, he was, and asked me not to shoot. He then came in, and calmly gave me a bloodbag and some morphine injectors - apparently he was bugged and couldnt do it himself, which was fair enough!

Then the server crashed. I logged back on, wanting to thank shark for his kindness, to find he had done the same and was waiting for me. I told Bernd to come and join us, and shark said he'd get his friend to come and join us as well.

Little did I know that shark and his friend grand would come back with an ATV packed with supplies, which they just gave away! They were kind enough to supply me with a ghillie suit, an M4A1 SD and enough clips and supplies to last quite a while! Grand used a blood pack on me, and then we waited for my original medics to arrive.

Shark got a bit bored I think, and ran off to look for them. We saw him running back towards us maybe 5 minutes later, with 2 guys in tow, followed by a load of zombies! Taking down the zombies was quick work, and then we all just chatted and took the generously offered supplies from shark and grant, and cleared the area around the building of all zombies.

It was a lot of fun, and I am really grateful to shark, grant, bernd and zaebos for their trouble and their kindness - I hope to work with you guys again in the future!

We had a truck, fully stocked with everything you could possibly want, five fully geared team-mates with NVG's, ghille suits, the works, (two of which Ash and SmokinDave73 are random new spawns we have picked up along the coast on the way because that's just how we roll) are driving to pick up our last friend who had just spawned in, only a few hundred metres away, suddenly a wild car appears directly under our truck, the truck flips over and explodes into flames, we all die. A hacker plays music for us as we disconnect.
