    Basebuilding still a cruel joke

    Basic car maintenance doesn't take much in our world. Refined oil, synthetic oil, high test fuel, new filters, new spark plugs, and other supplies are readily available. We can take our cars to the shop for an engine or transmission replacement, straighten a frame, etc. The shops have computers that can give your vehicle's computer the latest updates from the factory. Vehicles that sit tend to have problems. Vehicles that have been subjected to flooding tend to have problems. What would we do if we found an abandoned car like the ones on the map and didn't have all that stuff mentioned above. We'd be walking.

    That they are expanding the team and especially to fix vehicles is a very good sign. Hope they can make a barricading system and let infected break doors open too in 2021.
  4. The Dead Return SA has now changed over to Namalsk! Get some col weather gear, start a fire and ride out the storm. Namalsk is a new/old map with an unforgiving environment. Survival is key, but will you work together to live or kill to take what you need? TDR Namalsk is lightly modded for variety and enhanced gameplay. TDR Namalsk has some extra gear, guns and vehicles, plus a few other surprises. Only some of the items in the mods have been added and they will spawn in line with the rest of the vanilla gear.     DayZ 2020 Year in Review

    Great year overall guys, and I am eager to see what you have planned for 2021. Thanks for not giving up and pushing on! "With support from new additions to our team, we hope to resolve our ongoing weaknesses regarding some of the synchronization issues and and physics-related problems with vehicles." No need to be a party pooper today - it's on the agenta, not swept under the carpet. Good enough for me, all things considered. That line I quoted is actually very reassuring, it's the first clear statement I've seen in a long long time (ever?) about the issue.

    Item disappear after server reset

    If it is any consolidation I lost a 6 tower elevated base protected by a maze of barbed wire and metal gates, inside this base was enough supplies to build 4 new bases, repair 4 cars, supply 12 clan members with full kits, a stone oven 4 canopy tents 1 improvised shelter 8 barrels, 36 crates, 1 sea chest, 2 generators, 6 flood lights, multiple xmas lights, 1 flag pole, 3 vehicles, all nicely tucked away inside a small ruins outside of kravostav next to the railroad... not very far from kemensk military base. it became too well known and players kept b-lining for it after they respawned.... I had ghillies, blazes, ak-74's, tundras, a big garden! (my poor garden)... But I dint have any NVG storage... but then again- I had a flag pole so things did not despawn after a server reboot. I am out of the base building buisness for now... For I am a new me! For now on- I will just WALK trails and enjoy the buity and do what I like to do the most in Dayz- and that is to find AWSOME scenes with the weather system and graphics and take screenshots of them and upload them to steam. "I am content" BUT... ( always a but) I would love to have more area to hike around with new scenory to discover, maybe a beautiful water fall with a nice ledge over looking a blue lagoon, in which it drains into, a metropolis with blocks and blocks of empty streets as far as the eye can see- *waves hand accross his vision* filled with infected just daring you to enter- and a random infected hord that roams the world searching for the one ring! All inside a 740 square KM map expansion!

    New Update

    this absolutely ....the new engine is and always has been far far away from being completed not to speak from being completed as a next gen engine. The main thing that the new engine brought on the table was making the game run on stable 60 FPS .Other stuff like the new sound system and more was simply imported from Arma 3 and would have also worked with the old engine. The current zombie spawn system is not much different to what we had in the mod and also would have worked with the old engine. The lighting system is still outdated as fuck and for exactly that reason the map does not look and feel dramatically better than before. I know without the new engine we never would have seen 60 FPS and smooth animations but on the other side we should all remember how much content and progress was lost...two years of hard work for the devs now after 1.0 release just to bring back most but still not all of the old content, knowing that we will never see a lot more that was not only promised but also already shown to us...also not to speak about vehicles that will not work properly before the finished the engine completely...when ever that will be.... So for me it really looks like the main reason for the engine change at a time the game was nearly there, was to make it run on consoles. I leave it to everyone's imagination how the game would/could look like today if the they had continued to work on the game for the last 4 years instead of starting all over again ... so yeah that much for consoles xD

    New Update

    Excuse me, the new Player controller and all the BS that went with it including losing most of the weapons, making vehicles server sided, etc was (in part) due to LIMITATIONS of Consoles. This game was dumbed down due to the money grab, it's that simple. I cannot recall a single game made for PC that was made better by supporting consoles... NOT ONE. Developers made more money by "adjusting" i.e. dumbing down their product for the peasants. Consoles are fun for kids, but at some point you grow up and by a PC and experience games as THEY SHOULD BE.
  9. Horses..... Cmon now- they have been working hard on the vehicles... flipping through the updates at a quick pace shows the progress. But inless they have already placed alot of effort into the helicopters, I will agree. But if they have- I will be anxious to fly one. But I will still only walk to it, not sprint at full speed.

    Did they ever say how many years have passed since the civilization ending event in this game? The more years that have passed the less likely it is we'd have vehicles, the ability to repair them, find refined fuels, coolant, grease, motor oil, etc.

    Vehicles have been a HUGE part of DayZ since the mod. They are far more important on the larger maps as that is how you move around quickly and carry items to and from bases. Yes, you can build a base without a vehiclein many, many hours of work, or you can cut that time down significantly with a vehicle. Raiding bases and towing gear is much simpler with a vehicle as well. Vehicles really are not end game, but they are a necessary mechanic toward end game.

    I can do everything in game without the need or use of vehicles but I know people like them but the game is playable without vehicles even being a part of the game which may make it tedious for some but all the mechanics are still doable and useable without them so that’s why it can’t wait in my personal opinion. More depth into the game with building, survival, immersion adds more dynamic and engrosses everyone regardless of vehicles, that’s beneficial to the games long term survival because it becomes stale after 100s of hours but I solo so that’s probably my own fault. Hackers aren’t really an issue for me so can’t say much on that, I just don’t see how fixing vehicles now will help the game when it’s lacking fundamental stuff in relation to the actual survival aspects as more content/stability fixes benefits everyone and will help the game progress faster in the long run(hopefully).

    When vehicles were first implemented in Standalone, they worked ok. They had issues, weren't persistent, etc, but they were reliable for the most part, then they made them server sided, biggest blunder ever. So they took many weapons away for the engine change, and fixing them as they bring them in, but whatever they have done for vehicles has not worked and they are unreliable as hell. It's not issue related, it was AND STILL IS a boneheaded decision to stop people from hacking vehicles, which, BTW, they are still hacking the shit out of everything else on DayZ Public servers. So wow, hackers can't touch vehicles now. Whoopie, but they can still pretty much do anything else they want to do, AND normal players can't reliably use vehicles to gather equipment and base building materials without becoming astronauts. So, it was AND STILL is a terrible mechanic for players and needs to be fixed once and for all. Unreliable vehicles and DESYNC kill this game for most people.

    Yeah that’s all issue related, basebuilding never had to be an issue when there was an alternative option that would simplify the process in general whereas cars aren’t really necessary as fixing stability within the code etc should help that out in the process too which is why I never went to in-depth as it’s been spoken about that many times normally on the daily. Plus it’s a lot longer the 3+ years, double it and that’s how long the issues have been around, vehicles are more end game when we lack the middle game content anyhow so imo vehicles can wait until they get everything else crossed off the list just be grateful you have them regardless as Derleth stated about bows about hoping it’d be in this year because he wants that content yet never acted like a child about it. Gave valid points and suggestions which I agreed with, can’t say the same in regards to yours personally.

    What should have been an option from the get go? VEHICLES THAT ACTUALLY WORK EVERY TIME YOU USE THEM. 3+ YEARS AND VEHICLES ARE STILL UNRELIABLE! Just yesterday, on a server running a 3900X Processor with 16 GB of memory and 2 players online, I watched a V3S spin like a tornado into the ocean. No one in it, it was on flat concrete and it just began bouncing and eventually started spinning in mid air and made it's way to the coast and ocean, and that was on NAMALSK which has far better performance than Chernarus could ever have. My signature says it all for 2021, nothing less is acceptable, please no more hats, just fix the vehicles to be reliable and consistent.

    Any chance of a 2020 summary roundup and a few words about the goals for 2021? As a player and server owner I must say I am mostly happy with how 2020 has turned out, especially considering how the year has been for the world in general. The server performance problems at 1.10 launch were scary, and I personally had hoped the bow would be back at this point. If I am to wish for a few things for the coming year it would be this, in order of priority: 1. Stabilised server performance, netcode and physics. Meaning that you once and for all do away with hand state desync, reloading glitches, jumpy vehicles at low server fps or desync. 2. Improvised bows 3. The last few legacy features still missing from vanilla - remaining leather crafting recipes, dyeing, spray painting, notes and books, fish and trip wire traps, weapon bipods. 4. Base building improvements: Please add ways to fortify existing bulidings into bases without needing to clip fences into structures in hackish ways. Bolting/barring doors to put locks on them, doorway sized free standing doors, window barricades. Also walls with doors and/or windows and a simple roof matching them, or a separate log cabin building. All of these things exist as mods already but should really be part of the basic base building package. 5. Polish. Various clothing and gear clipping issues (ski masks and basically any hat, guns sticking out of vehicle roofs etc), sound effects cutting out when there are lots of infected, bodies getting stuck in mid-air, zombies and other AI clipping half way through doors and walls (especially bears are horrible, you literally think they are on their way to walk straight through the wall). That kinda thing. 6. Other stuff. Remaining legacy guns, more ambient life (birds and small animals) and maybe - just maybe - bikes and motor bikes..

For the past few days or so I have noticed an increase in vehicle glitches that include: 1) The long standing bouncing issue including clipping through the map. 2) Stutters and "rubberbanding". 3) Items stuck in inventory. The bouncing issue shouldn't need any introduction. It's been discussed ad nauseum but if needed I can find video clips from others that will illustrate exactly what we are experiencing on my server. This is one issue that has always been a problem but was relatively rare. However, over the last few days after the updates, I have been having it fairly consistently in our sessions. SeI had it happen in an Olga that spun violently in the air as I was driving over a curb at low speed. Unfortunately, it resulted in my characters death. When I finally made it back there my old character was gone but the car was still drivable. ......I lost all my good gear that was on my dead body though. We 've had several instances since then but last night was the worst. I was in a truck and it began to bounce wildly in the air while driving through a town. It eventually clipped below the map and into water. With some manipulation of the controls for around 10 minutes I was able to make the truck work it's way back on top of the road surface where I could turn off the engine and step out. I found a safe spot, logged out, reset the server and logged back in. Everything was "ok" at that point at least to the extent that I could drive the truck out of there. It seems that is the only way to really reset this problem when it occurs and even then, there is no guarantee it won't happen again in the session. I guess the only saving grace is that it seems injuries are disabled for the trucks otherwise I would have likely died just as I easily did in the Olga several days earlier. Again, this is not a new problem but one that seems to have become worse in recent days when before it was much less frequent and quite rare by comparison. Rubberbanding persists where it will suddenly feel as if you're driving in mud and then released. At times, it's much worse and your transported sideways or other directions from your intended course as if the game is out of synch with your inputs. What my friend might see is different than what I do when driving. This also is much worse now than it used to be. As for items being stuck in inventory, I think this is a global thing as I have noticed when looting now, sometimes I can't add things to my inventory using the square button. However, occasionally I am able to equip to hands first (X button) and then use square to get it in my inventory. Inventory irregularities have always been a problem in some form or another and this seems to be a bit of a twist on the old issue. Also, scrolling through the inventory on vehicles and in other instances seems to be worse where you can't scroll down and have to cycle through inventories or scroll up, etc. to get it to work. I thought I was able to capture video last night of the incident with my truck flipping around in the air and clipping through the map but apparently, my settings are screwed up on my PS4. I lost the footage. If I can capture some of these problems and share, I will but I'm really hoping someone at BI will at least acknowledge these problems and give us an idea if they are being worked on. These are things I thought BI was focusing on this year. I really wish the group would be more interactive with their customer base as you were when DayZ was being launched for PS4. I would love to see the studio hold Q&As to answer questions from your fans and address concerns, future plans, etc. It would go a long way to building trust and quelling concerns about issues being ignored, etc. I can't speak for others but I'm willing to help BI get to the bottom of some of these issues I and some other have been experiencing. Let me know what I can do to assist. What do you want to know that you think would be useful in determining the root cause of some of these issues? Tell me and I'll do what I can to help you make this game what we all know it could be. I'm sure many others feel the same way. I'd sure feel a lot better about getting behind BI and this product if we had more communication from the studio and a show of willingness to work together with its community.

    If only... But if it has to behave like vehicles right now, they better not waste time and use it to fix the behavior of vehicles already in play. However there was a MOD under construction to add trains and rail switches, obviously with the locomotive being controlled by the player from the inside. But it has been in the works for many years and I don't know where it is. The latest information I had read said it was about to release the first public beta ... then Covid19 came and it "froze" everything. I don't know now. Try to search for "Hype Train Mod" by Arkensor (questo è il suo canale YT: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFB4z8XxAaEv3PxJnZ860uQ), maybe you will find some news ... but it is interesting to see the various videos of the mod under construction. I also often use my private server (the one downloadable from Steam), installed on the same PC as the client, and being on the same PC, the ping should be 0 (zero), even if the game is ± 10/15 (?!?) Well... the behavior of the vehicles is very bad.     No, they won't have to do anything. The customer has no leverage. Basic feedback is one thing, demanding technological advances (fixing vehicles) is another. There is also hidden information. Information that only the company knows. And that's normal. What if they have a special team working on advances for the Enfusion engine and the current DayZ developers have been tasked with working on the recent content? Maybe there is some other blocker, decided by the people with the money, that prevents the seemingly obvious fix? What if the people who get to make that decision never even visit dayz.com? I'm not saying that there are no issues and that you're wrong. I just think that making noise about it is pointless.

    What would make a Dayz perfect game?

    Besides the urgent and important need to fix the serious flaws of the game (cars in the first place) before adding anything else, as some have already written... personally I would like to see more realism. For me this is fundamental, much more important than any other object, system, philosophy. I don't care if it gets easier or harder (I don't play for this), I don't care if it gets uglier or more beautiful (I don't play for this)... I care for it to be as likely as possible (I play for this). When I play I would like to forget that it is just a game and to identify as much as possible with the character I use in the game. This would make a great game for me. I can understand the various flaws (even if this game has too many), but not the stupid choices deliberated out of all reality and logic. Just an example to better explain the concept: Backpacks that need to be emptied for storage in tents or vehicles. Something that is neither in heaven nor on earth... completely absurd and unrealistic... Or the consumption of boots, they seem made of cardboard... or knives, tools, weapons, etc. This is all just ridiculous! Or the Sun's rays with 1.08, and many other things that make this game unrealistic and very stupid. Perhaps even more than the many flaws of the game, because I know that it is done on purpose... 😞 and that it is a deliberate choice that could be avoided without major problems JUST WANTING it. This makes the "problem" more annoying. 😞 Almost the developers wanted to make this game "stupid and ridiculous" on purpose ... 😞

    What would make a Dayz perfect game?

    I agree with most of the above - a focused effort to really fix server performance and desync (and vehicles) once and for all would be the best Christmas present they could ever give us. To hell with "content" until those things are in a good place. That said, as different team members have different expertise, it would make no sense to expect those who can't work on bugfixing said issues to sit on their hands in the meantime. Judging by what little information the devs have shared with us over the last year, many of DayZ's problems stem from the base physics of Enfusion, hopefully those problems are cracked at core level sooner rather than later.
