End game suggestion - holy book

Recommended Posts

Based on the movie "the book of eli", i'd just like to post an idea for an end game:

- You have to find an extremely rare holy book, a bible or any other

- You have to keep this book for maybe eight weeks in your inventory

- With the book, you have to visit maybe five churches all over the map

- as an option, you need to get a given setup of some or all high tier loot and a tent

- as an option, you need to kill a high number of zeds

If i enter a church my hair instantly catches fire and my face IMFUCKINGPLODES! ..so no..that would be a game breaker for me i am afraid. :)

Yuk, keep religion out of the game.

(don't mind random churches in the game but not a fan of holy items and shitty quests).

And what happens when you find the book, keep it for 8 weeks and take it to 5 churches?

You're not selling the idea too well mate

Yes, sure, lets bring religion into the game.

Not..

If you feel like doing a pilgrimage across the map, be my guest.

But making something religious the main "quest" behind a game that is supposed to be completely open, with room for you to make it whatever you want it to be.. Would ruin it, in my humble opinion.

Like I said, this game is supposed to be whatever you make of it, so if that's what you personally want to do, go right ahead. Go to your churches, get your holy book and pray that it accomplishes something.

But forcing religion related... Anything.. On anyone, is wrong.

Sorry guys but i don't want to sell anything here. And i'll not try to sell my idea. This is just an idea that could be developed. It doesn't has to be any religious item at all, could be something else. The churches are already there, so religion is already in the game, even the churches don't play any major role. As a background, the holy book would kind of "restore the survivores hope in this world".

Religion is a touchy subject for some OP, probably why we are complaining :P

What? Would everyone get one of these books? This is really random. And yeah lets leave any kind of holy-whatever out of this.

I don't think you got what I was saying.

What is the point? What will I gain/lose from carting an <insert item here> around for <insert timeframe here> and visiting <insert places here>?

Atm every item in game has a use for something, so you need to ask yourself "Why would anyone bother doing this?" and give an example to us to say yay or nay to

Ok, as we talking about an "end game", this item is not for for any normal use like a hunting knife. If you got this end-game-tem, and maybe accomplished one or more quests related to it, you've won the game. You then may get a just a winning-game-message or more health points in the your next life, or a special gear, whatever you like. The game must go on, that's for sure.

Think 'people STILL believe this bullshit?!' would not restore my hope in the world. Quite the opposite, actually...

I think you've misinterpreted what people talking about 'endgame' mean. They are not talking about the 'END' of the game ( which is what you suggested..), but about activities after getting high-end gear.

Currently, the only endgame feature is killing other players. After a while it gets boring, thus people want to be able more stuff. Building bases and whatnot.

I think there should be bibles in the game though along with other random "useless" items like money just to make a point on how worthless they would be in a scenario like this. Or maybe some players will find them valuable and try to cling on the former importance of the random items. Interesting.

Its not really a bad general idea op, but the religion thing is a touchy subject for a lot of people :) i like the book side of it like Terroviktor posted above. For me the written word is an important thing, i love books and always have. Electronic stuff that people place so much importance on these days, for the beginning of an event like this would take a back seat, and books would become a very important tool for mankind again, as it does in the book of eli.

After i had a base of operations in a forest or whatever and felt secure in the world books would be one of things i would collect.

haha...the possibility to plant unique items with the new loot system...this opens the door to end-game contents pretty much!

how about a coffin full of roubles and a golden ak47! along with a hint from a note?

a gorilla costume to create new myths and legends in chernarus?

edit: and now please lock...

How about having a quest to find the ultimate antidote to switch all infected back instead? Wouldn't that make more sense than a fictional backstory? Oh yes...if you would run around as blind as Eli i wonder how you would survive for even a minute...yeah faith my ass.

That antidote could be one of those things bringing players together as an endgame option.
