Look, like Rocket has said 25643123 (yes I counted, twice) everything he does is a "test" (alpha *cough* alpha), he thinks of something he likes to add/modify and then implements it. If it sucks he removes if not he keeps it.

Just enjoy the game as it is, if you can't stand it go rage on the forums/reddit/4chan/twitter/facebook/etc. and hope that he reads it so it will be removed in the next patch.

People are already making up this and that scenario where something in the next patch is going ruin the game. Can't we at least test the goddamn thing before we condemn it?

The approach we're taking is to look at a players previous data when they are authenticated. If the server see's clear evidence that a player has been doing things that they are not allowed to do (such as large quantities of ALT+F4, hacked weapons, teleporting, spawning, or anything like that...) then it will either warn the player of their status, or prevent them from being authenticated.

We need to add a new feature to the site that allows the player to review their personal data, so that they can check their Hive reputation, and ask for a manual review where they consider something is in error.

There is the answer for everyone who considers their situation to be unique.

This is for all of you with:

Shitty ISP's

Shitty wireless connections

Special needs children

Special needs wives/gf's

Server hopping due to crappy server/night time etc..

Anyone else who complained that they disconnect for valid reasons.

If it's valid, you can go create a ticket and it will be dealt with according to your situation.

(I feel sorry for the guys who have to deal with all the "boohoo! I alt-f4'd one too many times, but this is why" nonsense) :P

As for the respawn button: jump off a roof, climb a tower and swan dive off, or just suck it up and start heading where you need to go.. There will be spawn systems etc put in place eventually, just be patient until they are added.

edit: I am a little butthurt over the single player being disabled.. I can't play SP mod on the current version anymore, but you don't see me QQ'ing all over the forums and posting threads about how my dog plays in the Armoury while I'm at work. :P

Seems like a good update Rocket. Just wondering though. I will connect and reconnect a few times to find a daytime sever, as the time zones don't always match what is listed on the server title. (Which is immensely frustrating) I also generally play on US servers,(even though I live in OZ) as OZ and KIWI servers (for me at least), are buggy as all hell.

You can no longer respawn, as it says in the changelog.

Suicide may be possible with a firearm, I am just checking to see if it will cause me to end up on CNN or some random politician somewhere will end up blaming me for a string of suicides. I'd rather not be sued, be on CNN, or responsible for people killing themselves.

Anyway possible that you can have a live feed on Twitch.tv on futures patches? This would pretty much eliminate some questions here and also give you a way to deflect your typing all the time. Basically this is that way I see how it should go...

1. Patch 1.7.2.4 come out and is publicly distributed.

2. Setup your Webcam and Twitch.tv account

3. Have Twitter display your time and channel when you will be talking about the patch

4. Talk about the in's and out's the patch and your vision of the future of Dayz

5. Answer questions to your viewers.

6. Make the video public and available to the peeps who where not able to watch (Pretty sure that you could hit 100,000 viewers in a matter of a few times of this)

7. Get back to work on 1.7.2.5 with suggestions from the players helpful suggestions or B.G.C (Bitch, grips, complaints)

I would eliminate alot of reading these forums everyday wasting time and get you to FIX the DAMN Helicopters!!! :) <--See how I snuck that one in there on ya... ;)

The mechanics are being tested, but it will put a "timeout" if you successfully connect too many times within a period of time.

This would discourage server hopping but not one off disconnecting under fire and probably won't be effective against disconnect/reconnect/disconnect/reconnect for teleporting behind an enemy (eg 2 connections within a short period of time, which could be done by legit users due to poor connection)

Make sure you include "fun" in the next patch. It's severly lacking and each and everone of these lame changes takes what fun there was to have. Oh and the guy saying who cares if someones daughter has medical issues. Grow the hell up. It's a game and maybe you prioritize this stuff over everything else in your life but most of us have lives, families, friends and other things to take care of instead of a game.Geez!

Doling out bans is a terrible way to implement an anti alt-f4 policy. I often have to switch or relog into servers due to all sorts of factors, such as graphical glitches, lag, friends not being able to get onto the server, etc.etc. Why not just implement a 10 second logout time, like pretty much every other game in which this is an issue? If a player alt-f4's, just leave their character in game for 10 seconds.

How does that effect us? : Respawning takes a bit longer. maybe 1-3 minutes to find a zombie to kill you.

What does it get in return : INSANE ammount of complains and drama.

What is being done : Disconnections are being tracked.

What was said in interview : That they would do this and that it would give people who abuse it a small wait timer before joining and a warning in chat.

How does that effect us? : Not much. We cant really say yet also. because it hasnt been tested to the public yet.

I sure hope there is more to be said for the time between this patch and the one before + a team working on it. But at the same time i dont know how big the team is. How much coders do you have in your team?

I "kind of" like the ban for quitting by use of alt+f4 even though I don't blame people for it but just as others mentioned, I too do not want to get banned because my power goes out, or my internet gets an intermittent signal, or my game crashes...or my system bugs out, or we get a nuclear attack from Russia.

There are just too may other reasons why a game could stop suddenly and then end up getting banned for it.

Something along the lines of:

1st Offence: Warning

2nd Offence: 1 minute ban with explanation

3rd Offence: 5 minute ban with explanation

4th Offence: 30 minute ban with explanation

5th Offence: 60 minute ban with explanation

I can speak several dozen sentences in german actually. Rosetta stone is awseome as is deployment and temporary duty at Ramstien. But I digress, I posted an end all style post about the anti DC mechanic argument. YOu dont like it becuase you feel I was rude, or dont agree. I understand that for a European it may be difficult to understand or agree with non socialist Utopian ideals. And before you all flag me for being ignorant i understand there are conservatives in Europe, but leftist everyone should cater to my disadvantage types are the majority. - Important matter is going to take a while? = Log the hell out. Its more inportant. Except that now was not your time to play. By the time said issue is resolved the limit or minimum time for bad rep has expired.

- Have crappy internet? = Buy more bandwidth you cheapskape.

- Live in a rural area? =Move or sell your copy of Dayz if you can. You shouldent have bought something you should have known youd have a hard time playing.

Its not that posters or his daughters fault that she has medical issues. But guess what? Its not mine either or the other 100s of thousands of dayz players. Couple that with all of the perfectly reasonable solutions I posted above and bringing it up in the first place smells of desired sympathy votes from the community for a game mechanic.

This Rocket guy is smarter than you think he isn't going to push an update that will ban half of his player base.

If your power goes out and his algorithms just happen to be good enough to tell that 8 other players in the area sorrounding your neighborhood, done through IP addresses, also lost DC than you wont get a bad mark. Also if this happens your power will not be restored for some time in some cases. If its just a hiccup and comes back online quickly, its a freak occurence that probably wont happen again for a while, and so therefore, will not get a bad mark. If you are playing dayz in the middle of a lightning storm than well, you should change your keyboard to an all metal design and see if that helps.

Game crashes, happens but again, not so often that it would show as negative marks with a well developed algorithm. If it is happening all the time, you should prob be focussing on fixing the obvious problem you have with your game/computer/OS than playing dayz.

Intermentent signal is also another infrequent, although more frequent than previous, occurance scenario that DCer and server hoppers love to bring up. It happens sometimes sure, but again, if it is happening so often in a short time frame that you get a bad rep on the hive, you need to be on the phone with your ISP NOT playing dayz!

And nuclear attack from Russia? I wont even go there cuz I know you were joking. See? I have a good explanation and solution for all of them folks. Keep em coming. See if you can stump me. This is nearing rediculous levels. The majority of people that are up in arms about this ARE your DCers, server hoppers, KoSers.
