Hi all, just bought this for PS4 yesterday as it come out.

Me and my friends thought we would be among the first to get online but ended in the ultimate frustration...

Majority of the time you load into absolute darkness, you can light some flares for visibility of a few feet in front of you but it is still too dark to read signs or even see the stars properly so that you can try orientate yourself.

The days only seem to last about an hour with night being much much longer than that?

Furthermore, 4 times (between us) the games crashed and had to restart the application :( Although I have to give credit for progress and location being instantly restored, it was still frustration after spending so much on this release.

I did hope my visit to the forum would be pleasant but after some time on the game last night, this is my honest impression.

Hey @semisocialI'm sorry that was your first experience with DayZ. Looks like the day/night cycles on PS4 servers are 1.5 hours each, which can seem like an eternity if you don't have a way to see. Although you spawn with a flare in your inventory, you can also craft a torch with a stick and rag or find head torches. If you make your way to military areas, you may find Night Vision Goggles, which would be ideal. I hope you continue to play. I'm not a PS4 player myself but did a tiny bit of research to see what might be available to you, I apologize in advance if any of the information is incorrect.

Howdy all.   Been looking at this game for a while,  finally bought it a few days ago.    Now Im on day 2 of nursing this stupid cholera.      Im pretty much stuck in this little town with a well and a few fruit trees to keep me alive.    FIrst few times I played it killed me because I didnt understand what was going on when I ate or drank anything.       So heres hoping that I get better today.

Seek out a medical building and loot some tetracycline and consume that.  You'll see a white pill indicator get added to your health icons.  You may have to take a couple of them, but it should eventually cure your sickness.

If you're lost, I would suggest referencing iZurvive as your map guide.  Find a road, find a city sign on that road and then find that name on the map.  You can turn on various labels on the iZurvive map to help you find the nearest medical facility.

Or, just let one of the infected thwack you to death -- instant sickness cure!  😋

I ended up dying.   Thanks for the map advice,  Idefinitelyy need a map.   I always try to get inland and end up back on the coast in some other location lol.     Trying to follow power lines away from the coast is not fun I end up in the middle of nowhere all the time.

Yes you can use a online map. But if you're a bit like me you sfeer clear of all info outside of the game.

Just got he game a few weeks ago. I am hooked. Only playing Livonia on vanilla offical servers so far.

Hope to join a group soon or find folks to play with. Tired of getting killed by geared up groups when I'm just trying to eat to stay alive.

Hey guys. I've mostly played during early access (460 hours during Jan 2014 and sometime until 2017). I haven't played much since, aside from some run-ins to check the good optimization and to take a few screens, and there's loads of content to catch up with. I've just finished Metro Last Light and Exodus recently and I have this post-apocalyptic rush going on.

Is there a good roleplay mod/server or is there no such elaborate thing here? (Lately I've been doing that in another game, GTA San Andreas, but I miss DayZ)

Is it still the same as before? Group up, survive/KOS?

Is it worth playing vanilla maps? I have no clue about mods.

Played: OperationFlashpoint or arma l, lets say: Cold war crisis -> Arma ll + OA -> Arma lll + DLC's
(what ****head invented a DLC ! ) Money greedy people? You wanna have a player base that will say: BUY BOHEMIAS GAMES !!! FFS Worth the money (Ah but the dlc, Myeaaa i know...just WAIT LONG ENOUGH) they trow discounts at you from time too time.

Nowadays since there is nothing compared like a good (MP) - arma ll (wasteland) or charliefoxtrot community i am roaming the official servers of DAYZ standalone. killing, living and exploring.
300+ official hours. never have i touched a community server. Oh and don't point a gun at someone or you might end up shot. if you didn't die by any other secret cause the bohemia team came up with.

I must say... at the release i cursed dean hall in every possible manner. leeching a game already brought by a active and decent dedicated community the ARMA branch had and still has.
however every path changes once a while. As a hardcore mil sim fan, battlefield2+(ModPR) & coldwarcrisis is and will always be loved on my side. No mather how shitty A building might look.


Dayz Standalone - my thoughts. Only the good STOCK experience. No tuning, pimping or modding.
Is it easy: No, dont think you're gonna run and gun your way trough chernarus or levonia(dlc).
Zombies: they might be/look easy, as long as you dont get swarmed (they have there AI scripts running, it has improved a lot)
Wild life/nature: Hunting, fishing, scavenging, farming... its all there just it tweaks and twist. Be ready, something made me jump once! (outah ma chair!) Seems like a AI wolve/bear doenst care about In voice ROAAAAARRRS!!! O:-)
Platform(Engine): i guess it is only taking up time and work. a decent budget system can run Standalone. I'd love too see a Arma lV version with this big boi. ( i miss the A2 group/intel system and the map/gps system)
Health/Wealth/Stamina: to be honest, you decide how fast it will drain. It are your choices you make.

CARS: YES ! Drifing and shifting like DIRT3 (you beated the codemasturds... : ) will there be mouse steering again ?? Hmmmm... (if there is, its been a while sinde i choose a car over my feets)

There is a lot to say and a more less little to complain, but i do have respect and appriciate the work the dev team is putting in a game like dayz. i'am missing a bohemia tooche(a la france)/feeling to the DAYZ Standalone. (thus not meaning it is a bad game)

AHH my very very first complaint! the first version with no campaign ????????????????????????????????? like find a cure/get slaughtered in the north by a freaking mass horde....stabbed in the back by a survivor tha player met at the start...
the guy you ... you've always TRUSTED.

I wonder...a cooking pot with the following ingredients:
"Armall" wasteland CF/zones, CIV towns, with a dayz/contact touche...add a RPlife lock/key system...E voila a new 'clean hall' has born. (everything PLAY able) too F' arround and bear arms when needed.
Call it: ArmalV "Soup and whalecum" Try a large scale player base ... add an apocalyptic tune to it. oh man..the concept. my screen..i need more RAGS.
Anyone is able to come up with a sheet: this game...but only bohemia CAN !
