What's the point of small cases?

Recommended Posts

Can't seem to get my head around the odd small plastic case we can pick up.

What's the point of carrying such a case if it takes up the same number of items in your main backpack as the small case can carry.

It protects the things inside of it from damage.   For instance, you can put one inside your cargo pants, and if you break your legs, the contents of the case may still be usable, while the case has been ruined.

Also, they are persistent, as Mr. Hates Dead has said.

The small protector case? It used to provide 6 slots and only take up 4, so people kept stuffing them inside each other like matryoshka dolls. Caused lag issues.

Right now it may seem not much of any use other then saving room. They will be important come release when everything is added to the game.

You wont be able to fit camp fires as backpacks in your backpacks etc... so protector cases will be important. The more the glitches are fixed the more people can stop abusing the system.

I thought this was fixed in.59.  Did it get unfixed?

Still fixed.

Protector cases protect the items inside. I put a stick of morphine and bandages in mine, plus maybe some spare ammo and a magazine if I have one. Sometimes you can win a fight and still bleed out because your bandages got ruined, or you won't be able to reload because your other magazine got ruined. So yeah, handy to be able to protect emergency items.

They are also waterproof, or am I mistaken? So in the future you may get wet and not wear decent gear, but at least your rice and milkpowder won't get soaked. With items having a "lifespan" in the future, this may be an interesting mechanic. Though I don't really see how getting a can of bacon wet shortens its longevity. Napoleon promoted the development of canned food as a means to feed his armies. It would be a bit stupid if now cans spoil in the rain. But I guess we'll find out. There are a few uses for the protective cases, but honestly the best one is keeping your ammo safe. Even if everything else is shot, the ammo is still pristine. As far as I know all containers serve this purpose though (waterproof bag, medkit, cooking pot), so it doesn't really matter which ones you take. The only bad thing about cookpots is that you still can't put them into barrels, while you can put them into tents. Apart from that all containers were created equal by the devs ;)

Well, canned food can, in fact, go bad.

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/botulism-found-canned-foods-pantry-safe/story?id=30565079

Basically, if a can gets damaged enough to let outside stuff in (basically, anything less than pristine), don't eat it. If a can has dents, cracks, or is swollen or puffy, leave it alone.

Making damaged canned food dangerous to eat would lower the amount of food available, which would be great.

figure of speech.

one day nobody should be able to fit anything like that unless intended in a backpack. Such was the case backpack in backpacks.

The main reason I use plastic cases and the small drybags are to make transferring items much simpler. Have you ever switched backpacks in a dangerous area or unloaded your pack into a barrel after a loot run? Moving those one slot items takes up too much time but by using the drybags/cases you can move 6 items at once. I find it very convenient.

Great points judged

I am all for making my character as fast as possible in short notice. Nothing worse then a clunky UI or clunky controls to slow you down.

"You saw, SO and So first" -your dead message pops up.

because you where looking to add ammo to your gun, after you forgot to reload it. LMAO
