Is it just me or is the game worse then a year ago?

Recommended Posts

I just started up the game for the first time in almost a year and i have yet to find what was improved. Attacking zombies is still horribly clunky and slow, and they still walk through walls sometimes. Stability and performance wise, the game is also still horribly optimized. What was even changed?

A lot of features have been added, and bugs have been fixed. Not all of them, but quite a few. I suggest checking out the devlogs and official announcements for more information.

Talking about the game not being optimized, if you really expected it to already be optimized you're sadly mistaken. That won't happen till beta phase since they're mostly adding features and doing some bug fixes and tweaks here and there.

Biggest Bullet points, seen from a year's ago's perspective:

  • pretty reliable persistence on all servers for all loot and "placable objects"
  • 4 vehicle types with solid basic repair and driving mechanics
  • more stable server performance, especially on full servers (this was a HUGE issue for me about a year ago which lead to a long absence after 500+ hrs played)
  • a shitload of new items and clothes, a lot of them sadly not having any function at all in the current state of the game

That's about it for noticebale changes if you'd ask me.

To be clear what this means: the loot and objects after a server restart will be exactly the same. No new loot will spawn and no old loot will despawn as a direct effect of the restart. However loot will still spawn and despawn after a given amount of time.

If the zombies are like they where before, then game isnt worse. Its the same.

Optimization cames last in development...it makes sense if u think about it. But I guess thats not ur style to think about things.

1) Haven't seen them clip through walls in quite a spell,

2) Zombies are supposed to be dumb (just about brain dead).

3)When they see you or hear you or your shots they head straight for you,

4) they come in greater numbers than they used to,

5) When they chase you they tire out faster than you do and stop. That's better than them chasing you across the map as they did in the past (I got one to chase me from the NWAF to Zaprudno ~2.4km once),

6) they hit harder than they used to.

7) In an area like Vybor (among others) when you shoot one every Zed in a +200m radius heads for you from all directions.

8) their wild pivot swings are more likely to hit than their old straight ahead leaping attack.

9) they turn around faster than they used to (as fast as you do).

Things needed:

a) they need to attack doors and break them down to get at you.

b) Their attacks that cause bleeding should get infected 90% of the time..Treatment/cure = clean wound with alcohol, bandage, and take a full run of tetracycline. if you don't have any tetracycline you should get sicker and sicker until you die.

c) add more zombies especially in wilderness areas.

But hey the devs are working on all of that.

Just you the only thing that's worse is the zombies. i've been hit from 2 stories up from a zombie that was attacking a wall.

I really don't buy that for a second. I have purposely attracted a half a dozen zombies and led them to the gate house at the NW corner of the NWAF tent city. I go inside, close the door and a growing crew of zombies surrounds the building (12 in one case). They swing the screech and do nothing and I can pop them at my leisure with the 9mm through the windows. They can't reach me or YOU. That is why I think they should be able to kick in doors and hit you through a window.

It would be cool if when I punched people, they would just start spurting blood from their arteries like a 15th century Italian hemophiliac.

Yes on all of them and the medical system should be expanded. Tetracycline for instance isnt effective against many types of skin bacteria .... without getting too deep into it, there is room for expanding it. Zombies in the wilderness are definitely a should have as well, albeit in lower numvers. Breaking doors unless barricaded should work ... barricading would also be a decent addition.

And of course zeds need to do more damage, currently it's almost impossible to die by a zombie

Good point! Perhaps tubes of triple antibiotic ointment and other more powerful oral antibiotics should be around. I would also like to see players getting their clothing damaged by barbed wire fences and for the zeds they should be dumb enough to get stuck in a barbed wire barrier once in awhile. And being able to set explosive traps for our infected brethren would be swell.

Note: I nailed a trio of zeds with a hand grenade the other day...they looked good doing their final face plants.
