Dragging captured people with you: proper kidnapping

As awsome as it would be, what is stopping people from logging out?
If this gets into the game, only a handfull will actually stay logged in. Most people chicken out when the ods arent in there favor :)

 

But +1 anyway, let us at least be able to grab someones arm and lead them somewhere when they are handcuffed :) And ofc they should be able to struggle against it aswell, eventually breaking free, like the handcuffs in game atm.

I would much rather be able to drag an unconscious body than a handcuffed one. All too often a comrade gets hit by a sniper and it's simply too dangerous to stand still over them applying a bandage, it'd be nice to be able to quickly grab and drag them to cover.

Dragging someone who you've just knocked out, then throwing them into the back of a truck handcuffed.

Screw being a bandit, kidnapping is the way to go.

Roleplayers willl frikking loooooove this!! And the rest of the players aswelll!!

 

As of logging out, and the burlap part, there should be somesome of mechanism: when you are being attached like this, you run/sprint automaticly (even when blind) anddd your body stays ingame aslong as you are restrained!

 

Alive zombies for reall!!!

Wont fix anything, it will actually only encourage people to do it, because they will start fresh again fast and not spawn handcuffed and with a bag over theyre head, on another server :)

Still not a loss for the person doing the capturing. Add a respawn timer to a death triggered by this mechanism for further discouragement.

I agree with the others, if you've been stripped and cuffed, death is pretty much the best you can hope for at that point. Easier to logout and kill yourself, log back in for a better spawn and then try and track down your captors.

 

A better solution would be for you to not die, but rather add a five minute spawn timer, and that if you log out whilst restrained it set any restraints to being permanent (unless someone else lets you out), so for anyone without friends, logging out is a game killer until someone kills you or lets you go, and it's therefore better to play out the hostage situation... or you know, make sure nobody ever manages to restrain you in the first place?

Ofc its a loss for the person doing the capturing lol, he wastes time, handcuffs, a bag and for what? Nothing, because people will log out.

A respawn timer wont do anything either, it does nothing for server jumping, so unless its 15+ mins people will choose that over being captured.

 

McTabish is on to something there.

Force the restraints to stay on and make them near impossible to break out of alone. It should not be permanent, but it should be more difficult to get out of :)

That might actually make people play out the hostage situation, because they could end up being even more ****ed, if they disconnect and join another server.

Let me add something simple. As world of Warcraft. Logout TIMER AND ANIMATION. Keeping an eye on the hostage should be a priority and if we know when someone is logging out by having him sitting with crossed legs (exclusive example animation for logouts) we can just kill him and solve the cheating problem. Alt+F4 would be a problem though but this solves at least half oF a problem ;)

I think this bro has the right idea... only being able to do it to unconcious players is the way to go.. imagine how much more trolling bandity gayness there would be with being able to drag people while they were awake

Pretty much. Let us be honest, here: 95-99% of the time, what do you think is going to happen when you get captured and handcuffed by a group?

 

You will get insulted, probably force-fed shit (maybe literally, if the devs get around to putting in fecal material.....which is why I am so adamant about it not being included), and finally, executed.

 

No thanks. No spawn-timer in the world is worth being talked-down-to by some shitheel and their friends.

 

And, for the idea about making restrains "permanent"....... that has to seriously be one of the stupidest ideas that I have ever heard.

They are probably going to kill me anyways, so what is the difference between a "standard-death 2hr respawn timer" and a "logged-out-while-handcuffed 2hr respawn timer"?

Well, maybe that's true. I just wonder why people don't just play along with the "kidnapper" and have some nice experiences. Although it depends on what they are like. If someone handcuffs you and force feeds you disinfectant and leaves you to die it's not that fun, but if theyre doing some small roleplaying and are actually fun then why not see how it goes.

Not stupid at all. Right now if you log off whilst retrained you die. If this was to be removed, and you are able to log back in restrained then it would have to be that you were no longer able to wriggle free, as people would exploit it. Although in most situations, as soon as you appear to be logging off you'll get shot.

 

I think I've had a character restrained once (not including jokes from clan mates), and that was as a freshspawn. I'd recently re-installed the game after upgrading my PC and had forgotten to set a default character, so had logged in as a female character. I was met by a guy that said he was friendly, and asked me to follow. I kept to text chat, told them I was a 17 year old girl, and pretended I was new, but I had a good idea of what was coming. Was led to house and given some food, I could see his friend behind me, handcuffs in hand, but thought might as well let it pan out how they want for a laugh. After they had applied the handcuffs came the lame excuse for abuse, and pseudo sexual assault.

 

After a couple minutes of them pretending to rape my character, telling me I was getting it now, etc etc I put some Lady Gaga on in the background and announced over voice chat, "Hey guys! OMG that was suuuuper! My names Lance by the way, if you guys are ever in San Fran you have to look me up!" Oddly enough I was immediately killed.

Or "less" harsh: Make their character persists handcuffed and unconscious/sleeping until they die or get freed. Of course this would prevent them from joining another server... unless they kill their old survivor and start a new one (via some option when trying to log in). I did suggest something like this for server switching as well (wait a longer period of time between switches or switch instantly but lose your character) and think it might have potential wherever login/logout and abuse thereof influences gameplay.

 

You can basically opt into the "hostage situation" gameplay and might keep your character (even after logging out - some people have real life stuff to do) or you just "suicide" and treat it as a character death.

 

Dragging bodies whether awake, unconscious or dead is definitely a feature that has a lot of potential. Using a rope or chain like above should allow the victim some resistance though.

What if they did die and as a spawn penalty spawned in next still handcuffed and burlap sacked; maybe even with a broken leg?
