How many hero's out there anymore

Recommended Posts

I play hero all the time and you absolutely can't stop my swag ... I'm far too diesel at first person shooters to be taken a fool by some young punk bandits !! Daddy's all like watching the situation and shit and when he sees an opportunity of a fight or a confrontation I run in with my gun up and get everyone on the floor, or at least weapons dropped ... I then move the people to the closest building and usually have one person tie up the other , I ask what the fuck they doing causing trouble 'round here and why they are fighting ... Whoever sounds more suspicious gets the judgement of the Kush (honestly though I don't kill unless I get shot at or know that the person in question is a cold blooded murderer).

I have the most fun playing hero , I have hundreds of videos of my 1,300 + hours of people trying to stop my swag but it was far too great , and I was far too hero - licious... Honestly waiting and assessing the situation is so much more fun than running and gunning all the time : if you know what you're doing you can run straight into berezino on a 50/50 and come out having saved a few people's lives and killed a few bandits with an amazing experience in between to tell about !

I doubt that's ever happened

I usually don't upload as my quality is shit :/ but I am going to start a thread after .58 hits stable showcasing mine and anybody else who has a good video , it's sad to see so many épéens in disbelief that you can actually do things besides KOS in this game ! Don't worry when you break 1,000 hours you will start to pick up some other tactics !

Edit : not calling anyone here an epeen btw , but I mention that because no one on the dayz community believes hero exists still ! It does !

What I doubt is your ability to run into a group of armed players on your own and convince them to all put their guns down and tie each other up. In my near 1500 hours in this game, I have never seen that happen, nor can I imagine any scenario in DayZ beyond a strictly enforced roleplay server where that would ever happen. You'd run in, demand they put their guns down, and get shot at or punched out by a crazy Russian. Sure, it's possible to see a group of 5, or even 10 armed players, and single handedly slaughter them all (done it myself many a time), but it takes stealth, quick reactions and a certain degree of luck.

Id like to play the hero role, but lately i have not come across one guy that wanted to talk or trade exc..last night for example i had played for an hour or so, 20 people in the lobby. I had collected a decent amount of food and random supplies. I handed the game to my son while i got a drink and he said someones near. I told him to wave and say hi lol i was still in other room, i can hear him saying friendly and do you need anything, guy said nope and shot him right in head. So much waisted time. I love this game, but man its aggravating

I'm a Hero of sorts.

I don't kill unless I'm forced to. Actually one of my favorite memories is being forced to fight as a Gladiator. I won and was granted my freedom lol.

I help people if I see them in need, I initiate conversation from a building to warn people of danger. However if you come in your dead.

I'll give you food and water today, and rob you so I can live tomorrow.

I'm not technically a Hero or a bandit, I'm a survivor. And that's what DayZ is about.

To be honest, at the turn of SA I took the avenue of a pacifist.  I always used to be a hero, however in the mod the medical system was a different beast all together and slightly easier in nature to carry out a hero lifestyle ingame.  That said, I do still roam with medical supplies and assist those I come across, just not quite the caliber of ejecting out of helos loaded with medics and patching up large groups of people on the ground.

Lol that was clearly a quick example ! Usually it's like this : soawn in around the shore and loot up pretty well, eventually find some trouble with someone holding someone else up , if I know they have bullets and have been shooting , I will wound one of them (sometimes I accidentally kill them , oh well) and then tell the others to put hands up and drop weapons ... They usually comply and I tie up one or tell the victim to tie up the robbers , it's quite easy actually and I'm surprised you haven't picked up such tactics in 1,500 hours to be honest ! Just the other day I walked up to a dark house with a fire lit with two brociopaths inside , I yelled "friendly are you guys friendly ?" And they respond with bullets to my general direction , I killed the first one through the window , I ran around the house and opened the second door and ran back to the first door and unloaded on the guy who was only able to get two shots on me... This was just another example of me trying to do the best situation without immediately killing , start doing stuff like that and eventually you WILL be able to control situations like robberies in progress !!

I mostly play hero.  Even when Eno and I go into "Bandit" mode, we primarily find ourselves telling people to toss their weapons as we let them go (with all or most of their gear) as long as they comply.  The only time we kill others is when they try to kill us.  We typically like to get involved in peoples business by alerting them to our presence and if we feel its somewhat safe, we offer food and items.  Sometimes good people get killed because of craziness or confusion, but most of the time we are "good" players.  We typically document our nights in the "How was your DayZ?" thread.

I've never understood this. If you're going to rob me down to a fresh spawn again, im going to try and kill you. I literally have nothing to lose. Atleast then you may ruin some of my gear

Ninja blood bagging has become a logistical nightmare, so now I just hermit it up.

Once storage and loot spawns sort themselves out, and the coast becomes a challenge again, it will be time to set up ye olde clinic in Elektro once more.

Until then its eating berries and talking to squirrels for me.

While in the wilderness I wrote a song.

Ahh now I understand Haha ... Well I'm telling you man , PVPers are great at these things you really should stop and try and play "hero" , if you KOS a lot you should defly have the hand eye coordination and the aptitude to play cool under pressure (those two are really the only thing needed to pull these heroic shits off). It really is much more interesting than KOS , I used to be a KOS bandit back in the dayz mod days but as soon as standalone debuted with the "hands up" feature I decided that was all I needed to go hero

!

You misunderstood. "Let them go with all or most of their gear" meaning we leave them while they are in possession of all or most of their gear. As an example we took control of a ghillie with a remington the other day at the beach in Berezino. Generally a hotspot you might say.

Anyway, we got a decent jump on him but we hadn't seen him actually beat on any freshies so had no REAL obvious reason to shoot him (though I admit on principle the ghillie is usually the only checkmark a person needs). We took him down to his buster browns... decided he was compliant enough and may have been there protecting freshies instead of killing them. I used to do that back in my 60-400 hours or so days so it wasn't beyond the realm of possibility.

Of COURSE when we walked away we did so looking over our shoulders and sure enough he took shots at us... giving us all the reason we needed to go back and ensure his corpse would never pass through another metal detector undetected.

I think the whole hero concept is a bit on the diluted side since it means so many things to so many people. Yes, Schwab, DaveB and I patrol the coast in hopes of catching some dbags chopping down freshies wholesale and we'll try to find people we can actually help... when we're bored we'll head over to a hotspot like Berezino, change our tactics a little bit and rig for red.

On the flip side, we become a part of the pvp "problem" by potentially helping people who have just died while chopping freshies down- who can then go run around and gear back up and go back to killing freshies.

Fewer and fewer people are playing where they want the help to duck inland and continue surviving... or trying to nurse an injured character back to health. More are playing from character to character while launching into every pvp encounter they can manage. It's made the concept of "helping" people a lot less attractive. Having a guy say, "Wow... I'm actually kind of amazed you guys didn't just kill me" still gives me a nice feeling. Doing the unexpected can sometimes change someone else's perspective of the game just a little bit at a time. Maybe it's THAT kind of help that interests me. Meh- I digress.

Soft skills coming up around .59 will curb this to a limited degree... at least I hope. For those of you who haven't watched the video associated with the latest update- I highly recommend you take a look at what's in the pipeline.

I never said "rob". I typically make you drop your stuff or put your weapon away to make sure you're compliant. At that point, we normally have a conversation and try to establish some type of trust there after. I know that sounds a bit strange with me ordering you to holster your weapon or drop your gear, but there is nothing else that I can do in most cases. We then offer supplies and part ways. It makes the game more engaging and fun to us.

Edit - we typically don't take ANYTHING from anyone, but i'm not saying I wouldn't if they had something I was interested in. There have been a few cases where I was close to taking a weapon or item.

I've no interest in that, I find it tedious. I have no doubts about my skills, I simply doubt the validity of many of your claims.

I tried being a bandit, but i fail at it sooo many times. I talk into myself that i am going to murder someone.... but when i find myself every time in such a situation where it is possible i don't do it... I guess i am a too nice guy.

Lately i am playing in a 50 man privet server. Yesterday in mysta, i was looting, heard someone in a red duffelbagentering my building and i had a shotgun in my hand. I scared and shot 2 times horribly freaked out. He ran... I ran outside, past some buildings (top 50 meter), another geared player was just standing there super calm 'He man"  "wanna drink". I had the opportunity, shotgun still in the hand, but i just couldn't pull the trigger.

DayZ is really hard for me

I was (kind of) a hero today. I managed to sneak up on a bandit that had just killed another player and was looting his corpse. After telling him to put his hands up and with no compliance, i shot him. The other guy was avenged at least.
