Right now the testing is done, and the servers are gone. They will probably close this thread pretty soon too. 

 

You'll have to wait till 0.59 experimental to join up on our scientific crew! Cheers!!

Well, it would seem no one tested it very well.  Backpacks are not persistant, why didn't anyone catch this before it was pushed to stable?

I am informed that backpacks placed on the ground will despawn along with the contents after 60 mins, to avoid this you must pick up the backpack and put it back down, shuffling items will not do.

I've read that someone lost their backpack but a yellow protection case stored inside remained.

Please test & confirm (just for me :) ).
