pikmonster 2 Posted May 24, 2015 Hey everybody. I've been playing DayZ Standalone since it's come out, and I've never had a problem with finding loot. My amount of gameplay has reduced drastically due to me not being able to open the game (Solved on this forum!) in the last four months. I've followed the updates still, but after giving up on my very geared character (a picture was also posted here) due to him not having food, and every server I joined not having any either, I've realized the truth.DayZ Standalone now has a loot drought! Every server I join has every door opened or is a private hive. That being said, does anybody have any suggestions on how to find servers that actually have items? Every server I join has every door opened or is a private hive. That being said, does anybody have any suggestions on how to find servers that actually have items?Interesting question.I think some of the problems may be the way loot is spawning right now, it smore than likely there will have been a loot dump in one spot rather than distributed all over the place. Having said that im in some private servers with around 40-50 in them mostly now and there are lots of items to grab. There are a couple of public ones i frequent that have decent loot too, but it is concentrated in some places. It would be rare for high pop servers to have no loot, otherwise it wouldnt sustain so many players.Even if you are not sure about trying to get to a known loot area try going there on and empty server then going onto a full or high pop server and see if the loot is there. I know its kinda server hopping but at least you will know.

I Have yet to see this problem (btw doors are randomly open/closed now so an open door doesn't mean much) - are you on the coast? travel inland go to towns people usually pass up or by - are you playing on high pop servers? - if so avoid the coast or popular towns/city's if you are looking for food/gear
sachad 1016 Posted May 24, 2015 Try some private hives with low- to medium player numbers. Public hives tend to be picked clean by swarms of hoppers, especially around spawn points and hot spots like bases and airfields.
Bigbadchuck 97 Posted May 24, 2015 There is food. Some servers don't spawn much. Just forage for food till you can find a village that has some stuff in it. Head inland and north. Nothing will be along the coast
q.S Sachiel 470 Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) Schroedingers cat..If there were a way to tell, they would not be fresh and full of loot.Your cat would probably also be dead of some kind of terrible toxin deep in a metal box, with a scientist somehwere yabbering about collapsing the wave function. Your only real hope would be a private hive or something... anything the general public and hoppers have access, so do you. ☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted May 24, 2015 (edited) If people put 1% of the time they spend playing DayZ Alpha into reading about it's development this forum would have so many less repeat threads. Whenever you think something isn't quite right with DayZ Alpha consider a break and wait for the next patch. 19 months to go people! We will likely have a wipe and patch early this coming week. Killawife 599 Posted May 24, 2015 On private servers I rarely have a problem finding loot. Even on full servers. Sure, sometimes a town is basically empty but you can usually get to another one cles-by and find something there, or wait for a restart. If you want really insane loot, go to the military bases on the public servers. The loot is stacked knee deep. Sometimes its so much that the game crashes. Its quite silly indeed. pikmonster 2 Posted May 24, 2015 Following Plasticassasin8's advice, I have noticed a trend that high population servers and nearly empty all the time servers have a very high chance of loot. I've even found some very neat servers following his technique. I advise all looters to do the same!
IReadTheAgreement 313 Posted May 25, 2015 Sprint into the Vybor military base and give your hardware a test.
therandomredstone 432 Posted May 25, 2015 -snip- With persistence, finding loot will always be someone difficult. (especially to newer members). The servers you are playing on are not fully looted, you just are not looking in the right places. Here are a couple of tips:1- Make sure that the server has between 1-5 people on it. You won't find squat if you join a server with 50 other fresh spawns running around.2- Get your butt off that coast! I stay on the coast until I have a backpack and some food and a basic way to defend myself (a baseball bat). Once you have enough food and something to protect yourself. Face the ocean. Turn to your right with the water to your left. Turn 90° to your right. Now run straight. If you get hungry, then eat. Just keep running until you find a town. And there's your loot. :)

Every server I join has every door opened or is a private hive. That being said, does anybody have any suggestions on how to find servers that actually have items?Best thing to do is just keep moving and if you search about 15 buildings in a town and find absolutely zero, I would just leave and forget the rest of the buildings. Keep moving and head to the next town. Hit all the military bases because it seems they are the places that get the loot splosions, which it a ton of spawns in a small area. Once you find a large pile of loot, most of the surrounding buildings will be the same. You can get more loot than you can carry there and pickup all those items you have been missing. I find food all over, bottles and canteens in tents, rifles in barracks. I just ran over 3 akm's and several other rifles and pistols and food etc at the nw airfield. I just pop over there to fill up my bottles and grab a couple cans of food on my way from one place to another. I can only carry 2 rifles and don't use pistols, so I step over a lot of weapons in my travels. I waltzed past 3 cows and a buck in the town south of the nw airfield. Luck! VuRaL 46 Posted May 29, 2015 I was suffering same thing after coming back from my 6 month break. I figured that less known towns, camps, establishments have way better loot. Try to survive until you can reach one of those.Zombies can be sneaked, players can be avoided. Drink from rivers, eat berries apples and run like wind.I figured this on 3th day of my return.I hope this helps.
emuthreat 2837 Posted May 29, 2015 If you want to know which places have loot without anyone having been there to report on it and/or take it, you must first master the art of determining the exact position of an electron.
