Kohlbar 270 Posted May 22, 2015 A few weeks ago I bought a new PC and ever since, I can't direct chat in-game while sprinting. This is really annoying because that's when I do a lot of my talking, lol. For some reason, when I press down Shift + W + Caps Lock, Caps Lock doesn't work. It works with other 3-key combinations, but just not that. My keyboard is a Black Silk Lenovo keyboard that came as default with my new pc. it's a very basic and cheap keyboard. Does anybody know if this is just a problem with the keyboard or if there is a setting I can change to make Shift + W + Caps lock work? Thank you.
Rammur 59 Posted May 22, 2015 Just double tap caps lock before sprinting off its toggles it on or off.

Evil Minion 943 Posted May 22, 2015 Works for me on experimental 0.56. I can press Shift+W+Alt+CAPSLOCK and my character will sprint forward while looking around and talking both in running and walking mode.
AmberHelios 2071 Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) Hello, this is a common problem with cheaper keyboards, basically its called rollover. most cheaper keyboards are 2KRO (2 key rollover) meaning any two keys can be held down at once and still be detected ( though most of them have 3 or 4 key rollover for most of the common keys like keys around wasd) the maximum possible through usb is 6KRO. PS2 has no limit and most are NKRO(n-key rollover) 'gaming optimized keyboards' try to support common gaming-related key groups often just giving left hand keys priority over the right hand keys, most of these are only 2KRO and sometimes fail to support the relevant game keys groups. so in words look very carefully for a keyboard, sounds silly but they are worth spending some money on. Hope this helps Edited May 22, 2015 by AmberHelios

Hope this helps Awesome explanation, I bought a gaming keyboard a year or so ago just for the shape, feel and size but had noticed after the fact I could hold down more keys than the cheapos before it. Turns out my steelseries Apex is a 6kro.

Kohlbar 270 Posted June 9, 2015 Wow thanks for the great feedback. Never knew anything about that keyboard rollover. I will just use double tapping for talking for now lol
mercules 1290 Posted June 9, 2015 so in words look very carefully for a keyboard, sounds silly but they are worth spending some money on. Which is why I bought a gaming Keypad and I'll never go back to just Keyboard. ;)
AmberHelios 2071 Posted June 9, 2015 even a gaming keypad hits the same limitations as mentioned as usb will only ever allow 6kro
mercules 1290 Posted June 10, 2015 even a gaming keypad hits the same limitations as mentioned as usb will only ever allow 6kro Not really Razer has developed a system for what they call "anti-ghosting" that allows 10kro.
SomeGuy01 7 Posted June 10, 2015 I bought a nice mechanical keyboard that is N key rollover. Solved a bunch of problems in games that require a bunch of button presses. Much higher quality materials than Razer products too. Got it from Max Keyboards.

Too bad they don't make a gaming Keypad, I really like all the extra things under my thumb. Then again it looks like they have a lot of things in development so I'll have to keep an eye on Max Keyboards. :)

Hope this helpsYou know 21 years in the pc building and I always wondered that, good thing I upsell people the better keyboards and mice :) When I had issues with 2 keys not detecting for WQ or something I take that flabby piece of plastic and throw it. Then I go grab a new 50 dollar keyboard and everything is fine. typing is not the same as gaming.. So most of us would never see this problem, unless you mash keys. When I played FPS games competition style, I would use expensive keyboards. So seeing that on cheap keyboards never happened to witnessed it.
