To some extent, I feel that should be more or less necessary, to supplement diet from "natural" sources. I feel like there should be at least three main energy strategies:

- scavenged food (+stolen from other players) with perhaps cannibalism (your PvP focused psychopath type)

- scavenged food + some "natural sources" (most players probably here)

- heavy natural sources with no or little scavenged food (crazy survivalist types like me)

Totally supporting yourself just by looting food should be a precarious and unreliable strategy in my mind. It's also less interesting for the game as a whole as you have to interact with fewest features this way.

In the end we all are just Hunter/Gatherers anyway.  I still say no to cannibalism, but that is just me.  I may try it on some private server sometime though, I reserve that right.

I've had encounters with laughing/crying cannibals in-game, but I've never killed anyone and then eaten them, or even eaten human meat offered to me by other players. Mostly it's because I haven't needed to, not because I have some objection to it. There is something sickly satisfying about reducing a person into resources though...

I haven't eaten anyone, nor do I ever plan to but I think I'd definitely use human guts to make a fishing rod or use the bones for arrows. That would only every likely happen in a fresh spawn battle though.

Got attacked yesterday by someone with a Winchester, that took at least 20 shots, but none connected. As I fled into the woods in inside a nearby house, not 1 minute later some player comes in with an ashwood stick trying to poke me.

 

I thought maybe he was trying to stall me while his Winchester friend comes to kill me, but in the few minutes of running around trying to avoid the poking and shooting back this guy with my own Win model 70 no one else came. So in the end they might not have been together.

 

The thing that's most weird for me was how the inventory of the "poking" guy was displayed. I had never seen that before. I'm not a killer nor do I KoS so I haven't had to loot a body yet on 0.56 experimental even though I saw plenty of players here and there.

 

 

I hadn't touch anything and this was how is inventory looked as soon as I accessed it.

Just got ambushed. Had a PM73 with a 15rnd mag. Ran to cover after being hit, bandaged and pulled my gun. Had the fucker right in between sights...

Click. Click click click. Mag disappeared. Not sure whether it was hax or just bad luck with the buggy inventory system. All I know is that I'm dead and sad now, after a literal 10 minute chase once I realised my mag was gone.

Character is the same for me. Only time will tell whether the servers were wiped or whether there's actual loot re spawn now (would be server side update). I will say that I've found tonnes of food all over the coast, some of which were in the same building as a flashlight, which implies re spawn to me.

Hmm, I wonder if you're losing the guns into other guns. I know this can happen with flare guns but I'm actually not sure about others. So for example if you're one of those silly people who like to carry so many guns you have to have one in your hands, it may be that when trying to climb your character actually stores one gun into another as an attachment. Again, so far I only know this happens with flare guns but it's not inconceivable that it happens with others. Edited May 25, 2015 by Ebrim

The characters were not wiped. Anything that you had on your person is safe, however everything else, tents, backpacks, etc. are all gone. We have a fresh loot spawn and so far, it has been generous.

Winchester model 70. At close range it's pretty similar to the mosin, if you don't exploit the "semi-auto" feature (glitch) of the Winchester, which I did. Took three shots to take him down and had to reload 2 times. Was aiming at his legs to teach him how to use direct chat  :P  but after getting unconscious and waking up, he just died at the third shot to the legs.

 

I really thought he was stalling me for the guy that just take pot shots at me to come and take me down, but I never saw him again. At least I think he would have been attracted to the gun shots of my fight, but not even that...

Every time you eat/drink/use something you have a chance for this glitch when you draw your weapon again.

 

ALWAYS check your inventory hands section to make sure things are ready for action.

Here lately, I usually keep a MP5 in my hands, since I have an ACOG, which allows me to quickly scan my surroundings. I also found a high capacity vest, which I try to keep empty, so that the MP5 has a home. If I find some loot that I can't pass up and I put it in the vest, I NEVER set the MP5 down inside of a building. That is the surest way to loose anything, not just a firearm.

 

I've climbed a fair number of radio towers, guard towers, and deer stands over the past few weeks and I have been very lucky not to loose anything. I don't recall climbing too many fire escapes during that time, but I can't imagine why they should be any different. Although I should mention that on a couple of occasions, I couldn't pick the MP5 back up, after descending a ladder. Each time this happened, logging out and then back in solved the problem.

 

Another thing that I do is to try and minimize the number of times that I have to set the MP5 down. If I am filling water bottles at a well and the area is safe, I will go ahead and have a drink, take a compass fix, or do whatever else I need to, before picking the MP5 back up. There is no sense in tempting fate by setting it down more than is necessary, eh?

 

Don't get me wrong, I've lost a number of other items by setting them on the ground ... too numerous to count, even, but on the last couple versions of this experimental build, Eugen has been watching out for my firearms.

Pumpkin slices have a similar glitch. While they are in my pack, everything is all right. But, if I put them in my tent, or another pack on the ground, when I return to camp, the slices are gone. If I hover over where the slices were, I get a correct description, but I have to take the slices into my personal inventory for them to re-appear.

that wipe provoked a lot of action last few hours.

 

a few minutes after the loot wipe, my girlfriend was killed by a guy that needed food, bad timing since food was plenty at that moment.

 

i found myself running into two guys at the NWAF tents on UK 5 0-1, they were at 5m of me gun out, i freaked out (i never trusted geared groups), shot one of them twice, and killed the other one after a short pursuit while he was trying to combat log (i hate that). i didn't talked and probably overeacted, if they read this, my apologies :( .

 

i still have the cooked meat glitch, pretty anoying ! and cooked meat stay hot in my inventory, making me overheating after a few minutes :| . i hat to get rid of all my cooked meat hardly earned

That's about as many degrees of glitched as your hand carry can be and during the worst possible moment.

Hmm I just went to pick up some duct tape and it memory error crashed me, now I'm afraid of duct tape. I think the glitchyness has to do with autoswapping items. I put my gun away hitting the X and manually put it back in my hands and avoid any weird out of ammo glitches and stuck in my hands glitches. Empty your hands pick stuff up manually etc and see if that helps with vanishing. Also when you open bullets or seeds or cut burlap sacks the stuff vanishes, but it is actuall in the top most open spot it can fit and you can move something else from that bag out and then back and that bag will then show the item again. Worst case scenario, put something from that bag on the ground and then back.
