ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) By that, what I mean to say is that this game has more potential than nearly any other game than I have ever seen. Discuss if you feel so inclined. The purpose of this thread is to get the "feel-goods" rolling because I'm too drunk to play alone and Biohaze has logged off for the moment. I'm so excited to play 0.56 I can hardly stand it. EDIT: Thank RNGesus for spellcheck. Edited May 3, 2015 by ColdAtrophy
randomspawn 215 Posted May 3, 2015 That excited!?!?!? Well, .56 probably won't hit stable for 3-5 weeks, so you got some time to play. I would say stockpile, but I do suspect we might see a persistence wipe on .56 release.
gannon46 788 Posted May 3, 2015 yep same here I've taken a break till .56 either way they never disappoint if somethings broke damn well better believe they'll do there best to fix it. i for one don't mind if it takes them 5 more years to make this game aslong as it ends up they game they wanted hell every suggestion i usually think of they are working on or have planned. IMHO this game besides project zomboid are and will be the best survival games out there bar none the zeds are just extra flavor.

Deathlove 2286 Posted May 3, 2015 The greatest game ever made is debatable. Some ppl will tell you games like Super Mario or FF7 was the greatest game ever made. Its all just a matter of perception. Do i think its a bad game? NoDo i think its a good game? Hell yesDo i think its the greatest game? Absolutely not
blackberrygoo 1416 Posted May 4, 2015 It's got my vote for best PC game ever... But my vision of a great zombie game has always been exactly what dayz is , and when I first saw dayz mod I was ecstatic to see the Open world zombie theme coming to life , but was disappointed with all the shortcomings of the supposed "survival game" , so you could imagine how ecstatic I was when dayz sa debuted .... It really has tied up mostly all of the loose ends from the mod and immersified itself X100 . I love the detail put into every nook and cranny of this game , and furthermore like someone else said , almost every one of my suggestions have been acknowledged by the devs as a WIP or planned for the future. Excellent .
escobert 112 Posted May 4, 2015 I agree, it's going to be great when it's all finally done. I forsee more hours on this than any other game. Well maybe Civ will still hold the title for most hours on record for me but otherwise DayZ is number one.
Herkyl Puuro 52 Posted May 4, 2015 Jagged Alliance 2 was released 1999, bought it asap and still play it sometimes. Although now heavily modded version of the game. DayZ is great, but I doubt I will still play it in 2031.

DayZ is great, but I doubt I will still play it in 2031. I doubt servers for it will still be up in 2031. Otherwise, I think this game has the potential to be one of the greats that people still play many years down the road. The greatest game ever made is debatable. Some ppl will tell you games like Super Mario or FF7 was the greatest game ever made. Its all just a matter of perception. Do i think its a bad game? NoDo i think its a good game? chrithu 59 Posted May 4, 2015 Hmm. To be honest. DayZ in it's current state, judged by the vision Dean originally had for it, is not even a good game. Despite all the pre-order copies sold and the backing of a well running studio the game is progressing super slow. Heck it is almost stagnant for some important features. To make matters worse there's now some pretty nice survival games out there that start to outgrow and outshine DayZ. First and foremost 7 Days to Die. As far as greatest game ever goes: For me the greatest games ever done is the Mass Effect trilogy followed by the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games.

However, my point has more to do with potential than the current state of this alpha.Well yeah but in the current state you cant call it the "Greatest Game Ever" yet its still in an alpha stage. It has to have time to age on a fully developed release for a few months or even a few years before we can go around saying that. I have no doubt it will be one of the "best" games when its done fully. Edited May 4, 2015 by Deathlove

Another title that I regularly come back to - 1998 Might and Magic 6. No mods, same bugs it had when released. Still great. SapperGR 8 Posted May 4, 2015 Dayz's concept has flaws, I don't know if development can be considered too slow but I do think they released it for early access too soon, It can be a very good game, but not for everyone..It does not try to please the masses like most AAA titles.
ASTINvlogs 44 Posted May 4, 2015 sighs* Really? That in love with it huh? You know who I'm talking about too. Not you OP ( to OP " lol no " this game has potential but that is all. This game is nowhere near awesome. It's good, but not great. When they finally get to fixing simple issues then we'll talk. To release update after update without fixing basics is blasphemy " it's alpha it's alpha " yeah well it's been alpha since Arma II and were well into Arma III now. Fix what's broke )
ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) This game is nowhere near awesome. It's good, but not great. Blasphemer! Lol. I can't get behind that kind of statement. The game is fantastic in my opinion. I can't believe how many hours I have sunk into this alpha in only a few months. I fully expect to sink many hundreds, if not thousands, more hours into it before it hits release. Every update brings so much more to the table. For me the greatest games ever done is the Mass Effect trilogy followed by the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games. Don't get me wrong. I loved the Mass Effect trilogy. However, Bioware bit off way more than they could chew and did not have a coherent outline for story. ME3 dropped the ball pretty hard in more ways than just the popularly acknowledged one. Fallout 3 was good, probably one of the best games I have ever played, but New Vegas was buggy trash that the community had to fix with mod-patches and it really only worked well on PC. I tried to play it for the first time on Xbox 360 and never could get more than 10 hours or so in before my game save corrupted. Morrowind was fantastic and I do like 4 and 5 but they moved into the AAA accessibility space and dropped a lot of the complex systems that gave Morrowind its charm, depth, and immersion. ...the game is progressing super slow. Heck it is almost stagnant for some important features. I don't get that impression, but perhaps its because I'm pretty aware of how a game is made. The scale of what they are currently working on to bring the engine up to snuff is pretty large and I think we are right on the precipice of massive beneficial changes. To be only this far into alpha with ancient tech and have it run as well as it does is a massive accomplishment in and of itself which is to say nothing of what they have in store. Excellent . I could not agree more. It seems that after 400 hours, I still learn something new every time I play this game. The funny thing is that it is still nowhere near done and there will be tons more to see, do, and learn.

Supporting an existing product while you're trying to finish it in the first place is like doing double duty.
vfxtodd 125 Posted May 4, 2015 As I've said in a post I just made, I'm having a lot of fun in DayZ. Thanks to new running buddies I've met, I'm learning a lot about the game. The more I know about the game, the better I know the map, the more fun I have. And I'm having more fun now then in some betas I've played. My only "issue" are the zombies which seem to hit me from several feet away, through walls, and when I'm standing behind them. But those moments are far and few between.
