pauldog 18 Posted April 6, 2015 If you find Blue Berries on a bush will further searching of the same bush yield Red Berries or only Blue?

Red_Ensign 990 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) the red berries make you go berserk and shoot bambis (they appear as giant spiders with clown heads) the blue berries make you starve to death clicking a bush, but they have antioxidants Edited April 6, 2015 by Red_Ensign

Evil Minion 943 Posted April 6, 2015 Red and blue berries grow on distinct bushes. The red berry bush is of a yellowish green with orange highlights while the blue berry bush is of a light green.
cash81 506 Posted April 6, 2015 when will they implement jam making? i mean, after all that work searching every bush in chernarus for a few berries, and this being a game for old ladies now who love picking fruit, why not allow us to make some preserves afterwards? we can find mason jars, and lids, and some sugar, and do it up right! yum yum! They need as many cooking recipes as they can have imo.
Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted April 7, 2015 I wholeheartedly endorse the effort to get canning and preserving added to DayZ as integral survival mechanics. I'd also like to be allowed to design pictures and create them in-game as labels for my new brand of jams and jellies, which I totally promise will not be made from poisonous berries and the mashed brain-matter from dead bandits. 8bit_Survivor 93 Posted April 7, 2015 (edited) With the implementation of base building for long-term survival I don't see why canning / jarring to preserve food long termwould be out of the question. If Ofcourse they add more foraging options in the future. How about salting your deer steaks? Or deer jerky??On topic, do blue berries make you sick? Havent gotten sick yet eating blue or red ones :)They use to make you sick ( infact unless you were lucky eating them was a death sentence) if that has changed i dont know when it changed but in previous patches blue was death( which i always found strange as most blue berries are safe in real life and red berries are 50 50 or worse on being toxic..

Comments like this scream, "Help! I'm playing the wrong game!" It's not possible that maybe some of us have played just about every FPS that provides instant gear and PvP and want a large and varied experience over the long term. No, this game is and will further become known as, "a game for old ladies now who love picking fruit". Foolish young upstart.

8bit_Survivor 93 Posted April 7, 2015 You're right SoulFirez, it was counter intuitive. IRL red is normally bad and blue good.

I dont play cod and i was more than happy with rockin an sks and a few rounds while exploring the map and seeing new towns prior to this patch. I had a few encounters with people but mostly got kosd. I tried to avoid people at all costs but eventually (like 3 days before .55 came out) i was finally geared with some decent clothes and a nice gun (Which i only got from kind traders making trades with me). Now its gone so far the other way id only want to see someone if i could shoot and eat them (if my new spawns could find a gun)But yeah, the way the loot system is now, might as well make jam if you die of starvation in 15 minutes while searching empty towns making you way north. FPS PvP game play became boring to me after GoldenEye. It's always the same experience. Survival horror done well, interests me greatly. After being KoS'd recently it took me a less than 2 hours to be completely geared, including SMG. Your entire statement I quoted here doesn't really make much sense. You're still squirming and whining about the loot, meanwhile a live update is being implemented for this as we speak (were you even aware?). This game will only become less forgiving with time and touring Chernarus as you were, will never be the same.
SomeGuy01 7 Posted April 8, 2015 Okay well the real question still remains: Are berries safe to eat now? I have avoided eating them since they were introduced because I tried both kinds and got sick. Never wanted to risk it again.

I have avoided eating them since they were introduced because I tried both kinds and got sick. Never wanted to risk it again. I've been eating a lots of berries since 0.55 came out, and haven't got sick. Like apples, they seem to satisfy thirst a bit better than hunger. edit: Have to add that picking up berries is really time consuming, I seemed to find apples faster, so I would stick to apples just to be safe. Then again, berry bushes can hide you better than apple trees while you're picking up fruits, and you can find them not just in yards of houses or sides of roads so they are safer if you want to avoid other players. But you should consider apples and then berries as the last resort anyways. Edited April 8, 2015 by Herkyl Puuro
