Rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer

Recommended Posts

Basically how the DayZ economy works now.

If you die and you don't have gear, you stay poor

If you have gear and you have food you stay rich.

The devs wants us to leave the coast and move inlands.

If you die, you spawn in with no food and no weapons.

With super zombies, you're not going to make it.

Zombies takes 4 hits to kill with an fire axe.

21 hits with a crowbar

And the thing is the places you spawn, it is always looted

Cherno Elektro Berezino.

So if you planning to get a gun and arm your self,

Short story you will die.

And TL:DR

If you spawn in the coast you will die.

If you have guns already you're set.

Devs didn't think this shit through did they?

It's a post apocalyptic zombie simulator.

Not a utopia....

It's not really hard, just team up with ppl and join a clan. Get on teamspeak and find a server to play on.

Theres a reason in the walking dead games and movies people grouped together to survive.

Technically the "devs" don't care what you do, DayZ is supposed to be your story. Central Economy will be tweaked very soon, but even then i fail to see the "lack of loot" you people complain about, it is simply not true........

You're wrong. Lost my dude with an AKM and full gorka suit on 1P view hive, crawled to a police station, alone and discovered a PM73 (For the first time in my possession now), an MP5 and more than enough riot police uniforms for me and any buddy I might find. The only thing I miss is my Faceplate helmet.

Zombies? Sneak past them fuckers.

Melee too weak? Fuck hitting them, find a police station and recover a submachinegun.

Too loud? Find a suppressor at those check point buildings with the overhang and raised surface.

Simple solution: use your fists to kill infected.  Fire Axe is terrible.

Just stand there and go full auto mike tyson to his face.  Brass knuckles can one shot civilian zombies.

It is supposed to be very very hard to survive.  The game is FINALLY getting at least near difficult to get started.  It should take a couple evenings of struggling to get enough food and water while finding more than a kids backpack to hold items in before moving safely inland; striking out to cover enough distance that doing it too soon would result in starvation.

If you have guns you will eventually die.  If you spawn at the coast you have a days long struggle to survive ahead of you before you can get set up in a more isolated location.  Perfect!

Devs have absolutely and clearly thought this through.

New patch advice; learn to navigate as always, learn to sneak around zombies (they are easy to avoid now and easier to outrun and lead away from towns), water is number 1 priority, food is number 2.  Weapons are a luxury and are a want not a need.

I hear what you are saying.

We have to remember this is just over half way in alpha, these are the sort of things that will have to be sorted by the devs.

Who will buy a game that is brutal from the start and you struggle to stay alive, not many.

Yes they will fix it ( if they haven't already made their money).

Remembering this is still in Dev mode, just run forest run, use it as a test to see how far you can get, i did that alot , a hell of alot , died and did it again over and over .

Why? Melee weapons are perfectly capable of killing zeds, you'll just take a few hits in the process. Sometimes, that's just what happens. My current guy found a p1 pistol but I don't have a mag yet. So if I shoot for a head and miss with my chambered round, I often have to finish them off with my hatchet.

They did think it through.

It is hard, food is not an easy find. in 0.54 I never hunted, never farmed, and left everything that wasn't peaches.

In 0.55 everything helps, even a can of bacon.

and i can not say this too many times. NO. zombies DO NOT ALWAYS take a ton of hits with fireaxe to die.

sneak up on him/her, if it sees you.. run. If it doesn't, aim above and to the left of their heads. quite a bit too.

smack it in the head, and it is dead.

I've done this about 20 times now.

the problem is that because they are moving so fast, and also ducking around when hitting, people are just missing the head.

Hell, i cleared out stary sobor with a chambered sporter. it took me a good while, but headshots kill.

and "short story, you die." yeah. you do, a lot. the point of the game is to make you fear death.

because it's not going to be "damn, i died. well time to make a 30 minute loot run to get geared up again."

It is going to really suck. and that is a good thing

Zombies are a pain in the ass right now if they hit you, but once you know how they work they're pretty easy to manage. Last night I gathered up a horde of nine of them in the Solnichny factory. Very easy to close them in while I hunted for more. Once I left to try to kite them down to Kamishovo and build my horde, I discovered that they all stopped on an invisible wall on the train tracks. I'll put up a video of it later. I laid down in front of them for a while and hung out. I think it's to keep them in their cities.

Shoot them, trap them, or run away until they get stuck behind an invisible wall. Cake.

And as far as food goes, you don't have to cook meat right now and Kuru seems to be temporarily disabled, so eat some people!

I feel like people bitch too much in this game.  It's not supposed to be Dead Rising where you can slice through a thousand zombies with a beach umbrella.

Still, they can't make more zombies, make them super hard to kill AND make finding a firearm impossible.  Ideally there should be a balance between finding guns and being forced to use them on zombies instead of other players.

Or use them on other players.  I don't care!

Yeah I've noticed the same thing. I had about six chasing me and then they lost interest . I think even if it's a broken element to the game it's better than some random Z picking you up and then chasing you for several miles, even when you broke line of sight etc.

Yah they did, they also know that ignoring whining people like you is essential to them getting the game configured properly.

I have started many characters and every time ended up with good weapons and military gear. This new patch will be no different, you just have to look in more places. Apparently police stations drop good loot, try there. The game is supposed to be difficult, gone are the days you run into a house in a city and find 3 cans of beans.

Did they? Death sucks, surviving gets rewarded, zombies are a threat and you actually have to worry about survival even without psycho survivors shooting at you for no reason. It's no bug, it's a feature. And a good one as well.

Stealth. Getting seen is a bad idea. If you yolo around town like most players (at least on 3pp) tend to do, you're likely going get eaten by zombies or bandits.

if you go look at most of the folks that posted their gears thread...you can see most of them pvp/killers/elitists barely have any food, med, or survival gears..they have like a can and water and rest of it is ammo!

I was hoping the fire axe does a little more damage maybe like 2 hits..instead of 5 lol..now i just shot them with my 1911..1 or 2 bullets will do the job

You've sort of summed up the whole issue with the game at the moment with those words.

To OP - yes, I think you have a point. I'd hate to be a freshie right now. At least in the past there was some idea of where particular loot would spawn, etc. Now survival is 99% luck.

I think the OP's complaints are valid enough. The game is easy for geared up players and very difficult for fresh spawns. The result is that you will most likely die several times before getting any proper gear. How many times are you going to die, repeat, die, repeat, die, repeat, before you eventually just give up the game? Everyone wants to have gear and it's not really fair to have to suffer through an agonising fresh spawn phase that's based completely on luck.

I read over the last two pages and saw a lot of people saying/bragging about how gear is easy to find when they are elite players like them. Jesus fuck, quit that, no one likes it and it's the reason I dislike this forum most of the time. The OP wants gear because he's playing a game and whats to actually enjoy it. God forbid anyone would actually want to get enjoyment out of a video game.

I for one think it would be best if melee weapons should be seriously buffed. 5 hits from a fire axe to kill a zombie?? 21 hits from a crowbar?? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! That's ridiculous. I really don't see why melee weapons should be in the game at all if they are that weak. I was playing today and killed 2 zombies with a fire axe and it was an incredibly difficult battle lasting several minutes. That was only for 2 zombies and even small towns could have half a dozen. That's not sustainable.

I was dicking around in the game earlier with my friend. We were both fresh spawns and I was trying to kill him with a sledgehammer. Honest to god it took about 7 hits. Basically if I was facing a guy with a gun I would never have won, even if I snuck up on him and hit him in the back he'd have more than enough time to take out his gun, reload, carefully aim and blow me away before I completed my 7 hits. That's not realistic in the slightest. One centre mass overarm hit with a sledgehammer would knock anyone down or even kill them.

Even if melee weapons were 4 or 5 hits maximum (honestly, I don't think even small weapons like hammers or machetes should take more than 5 hits to kill human or zombie) then they would never beat a gun unless the melee weapon wielder was very very good at sneaking, and if they are that good then let them win.

TL;DR

1) Go easy on the OP elitist snobs.

2) Buff up melee weapons about ten times.
