    Fix The Vehicles

For the love of God, can we please go back to the days of just VS3 trucks? Only trucks.. PLEASE... Because back then, we didn't have phantom de-sync bugs, we didn't have vehicles that stopped running for no reason, we didn't have vehicles that randomly despawned right in front of you, or dropped you 2000m from the vehicle, or killed you for no reason. The failure of vehicles is murdering this game. People work hard to put a vehicle together and then get fist phucked by one of the aforementioned bugs. After 2 hours of finding wheels, parts, etc, the damn car won't run w/o any reasonable explanation. The group morale is crushed, and people go to other games like Rust or BF4. Before you introduce new cars/planes/helicopters, do your due diligence and have a reasonable working product. Right now, the status of vehicles is no better than the 5 year old leg breaking bug.

Home is where the barrel is.

It's a fun life but followed a very similar pattern each time and at every step I tried to be different but always ended up with arm fulls of automatic weapons, grenades, knives, guns, and blasting anything that moves. That has changed. Now I have a place to hang my hat. A place to call home. A town on a server server to feel linked to. Because of barrels and persistence - how wonderful they both are together. So much has opened up to me in the game because I can dump off some stuff and have a place I am in some way tied to. I set myself goals and missions around the map - meet new players, find a particular item, repair a car, try and kill someone with an M4, etc etc. And it's really great. Yeah, I could have done all these things previously but the difference now is that I have a point of reference and a consistency that I did not before and a place to put things so I don't end up like a mobile storage unit. Yesterday I was at the military base near Vybor and saw another player -- he didn't see me. I ran through my mantra (deep breath *check*, scan for other players *check*, decide what to do *check*, run with it). Normally the decide-what-to-do part means kill them or try to talk to them. But yesterday was different... I decided to see where this chap was headed. If I run around the map bringing shiny stuff back to my carefully hidden stash of barrels then perhaps this dude is too. So, I began what is probably one of the most exciting things to do in the game and followed him across the map trying to avoid being spotted. We even passed near another player but they appeared not to see each other. In the end I followed him through several towns as he looted all the way towards Novo' up in the north. It was about two hours down the line and I had lost my quarry on several occasions only to see him in the distance and pick up the trail again. The light was fading and it was turning to dusk on the server - players were dropping off. My quarry made their way out of Novo and I was really struggling to follow his movements through the forest. Fearful I would lose the trail all together I move much closer - down to under 100m at least. It was cloudy and with the night closing in I could barely make out his movements in the dark but through the gloom of the pines I made out his actions chopping a tree, which he then turned into a raging fire. We were far from the town now and over a hill so I assumed we would not be disturbed. I bobbed down next to a tree and watched him throw hunks of meat onto the fire before eating them. I considered reaching out to start conversation but I couldn't help feel that this place was somehow familiar to him and held back. Ten minutes passed and he appeared to be sitting still next to the fire as it died down. The one golden glow that filled the forest was now fading and I at last saw him move again. This time I tracked him a few hundred meters toward a collection of pines grouped together. He doubled back a few times and turned on a head touch - at one point I swear he should have seen me and I began to duck behind a tree and pull the AK off my back but he seemed to be pre-occupied with a group of trees and rocks. It was here he finally revealed his stash as I caught the slightest glimpse of cylindrical shapes pushed up underneath the branches of the tree. My heart began to race and I instinctively began lining up the back of his head in my PSO sights. At this range the kill was inevitable. The automatic fire would tear his body to shreds. But right as my trigger finger readied itself to squeeze and end the story for this person I hesitated. He doesn't know I'm here. I almost said it out loud I surprised myself with the profoundness of my realisation. As he rummaged around in the barrels, unaware of his closeness to death, I marked the location on my map and slipped away back down to the edge of Novo and out to a quiet place to spend the night. I would return in the morning from the opposite approach down a ravine and under cover to scope around and inspect the barrels. My quarry appeared to be gone and I gently pried open the containers to inspect a cornucopia of treasures. However, I did not touch the contents and made special care to replace the lids and leave all as I found it. Of course, I will return to these barrels and monitor his progress. Unknowingly he is working for me, collecting my loot, filling my barrels until such time that I choose to take it. This is what makes DayZ special. It is a sandbox and the developers are the ones adding sand. The players create the rest... I love stalking fools and not pulling the trigger. It takes skill and brains to stalk but not kill, and to follow an individual all the way to a camp w/o him discovering your presence. Well done.

"PSA": Fix stuck cars (spaz/blurring etc)

Same here, this fix doesn't work. I've shot the thing with arrows, which helped me in one situation but I can't even duplicate that. Everything else but the friend method hasn't worked. Edit: this is a game breaker, pretty stupid bug.

    Sights bugged question

I know I've seen this before, but can't find the threads... My buddy has the visual bugs when aiming down any glass sites, it's all messed up. Steyer Aug sights appear as one grey circle. Also, I am invisible to him while in game unless he logs and comes back in. When riding in my car, he has visual bugs of just standing in one place. I know other folks have had this problem, because in the past I've seen it mentioned, however my search abilities suck or they've been moved. Thanks
  5. Ok, in the last week I've lost at least 3 weapons due to the silent "drop to ground" issue. Basically, if I pick up a can of peaches, and it touches one of the 12 slots that my MP5 was designated to, I then silently drop my MP5 to the ground upon disarming. I've been playing this game a lot, and I switch backpacks, weapons configs, armament quite often. It's not easy to keep up with slot management, especially in high tempo movement. So, to fix the issue once and for all, can we please get a "clunk" or a "weapon hitting ground" sound when a weapon is dropped to the ground? It can't be that hard to code. Or make a duck quack, or a fart sound when a weapon hits the ground, I don't care.. Something other than silence would add a hint of realism to the game. Since slot reservations were removed for no good reason, to the anger of many players, and replaced with nothing useful, can we please get something to somewhat remedy the annoying self-induced bug? DayZ took a step backwards for no reason by removing weapon slot reservations. Thanks

Interesting day at the air field

Dayz GA 2-17 also has this problem. If you sit inside the captains tent then loot keeps spawning, right in front of your face.

    Barrels

I can second this, I have 1 barrel and about 8 bags. I moved 4 of those bags to another site about 200m away, that might not be far enough. I get the lag and have to reconnect. Edit: Lag is really bad today, moving some bags away has't helped. I've had to re-login about 10 times already just to get some stuff.

    truck flipping

Ok, it happens. We turn too fast, flip the truck and have to just leave it abandoned in the field. With persistence on, I've come to find many trucks remain flipped over for some time. But yesterday I came back to the spot of a flipped truck to find it upright. It took 2 or 3 days but it's not sitting up and I drove it away. However, another flipped truck remains flipped after several server reboots. Does anyone know how this works, or is intended to work? What about a truck stuck on a guard rail, how long will it persist there before being removed?

    Never ever friendly again

There is no incentive to NOT kill someone in this game. I would love an introduction of a bounty system of sorts maybe, bounty hunting would be fun.

    Where has the fun gone?

I've played 1000+ hours and I still have fun with it. If you just run around and die all the time, then of course it's not going to be fun.

    Found an M4, now what...

They spawn in the freaking tents. It's been confirmed by a person on Reddit.

I had high hopes for 0.58....

Well thanks for trying. As far as a wipe, I've seen nothing.

I had high hopes for 0.58....

I love it... you default to the belief that I'm naive to the Alpha. Yah, it's definitely experimental. But was there a loot reset in the last 2 hours? How are all these folks building bases and tent cities if it wipes every 12 hours? Unless there was a minor wipe in the last 2 hours, I'd go ahead and stand with original statement.
  14. The latest 0.58 build of DayZ on experimental was flawless on the surface. No glitching loading or picking up weapons, instant switching of items from the quick action bar, little lag, persistence, logically spawning loot, vehicles, etc. This patch was everything I ever wanted....I am feeling the vibes of a possible Beta.. then.. ...just like the leg breaking bug, an inexplicable event. My server (Dayz Southeast Experimental 0-3) reboots and I lose my tent, everything in it, the backpack next to it, the vehicle that I spent 3 hours procuring... all of it..gone, because I actually believed... Then I am snapped back to the reality that this is all a project, nothing more. It's hap-hazardous at best. It's patch work. All of it ends up driving me out of the "camping" and "base-building" mode to the "murder everyone in sight/pvp" mode. Therefore, I am heading down to Cherno to ruin people. I'll be out of the country 3 weeks, I hope things change after that.

    Just a question?

I shot one today, but it was just to calibrate my scope. Most the time I don't mess with them.
