Exp Update: 0.55.126981

Recommended Posts

Ah, okay, i think it was a syncing error. I went to shut down steam, and apparently the dayz process was still running, even though the program was closed. FC'd the process and all is normal now. Thanks!

urvile, sounds like a bug/glitch.

Maybe restart Steam.  :/

^I want to believe that they are being careful to give us something a bit more... "playable" this time, igor.

Delays mean less of chance of having a more broken build like the 1st 0.55.... I hope?

Today I have been on experimental all day.  I fell asleep while driving, woke up in time to see my V3S careen off a snow fence and T-boned pretty hard into a guard rail.  It killed me.  Spawned in not too far away but by the time I got back there the truck was gone.  Not sure if this was the server or if it was some other player found it, recovered it and drove away.  There were only 3 other people on during that time, I suspect they were hoppers since they were in and out pretty quick.  It's ok, I know where another one is.

^I was only on for less than an hour today and with 10 minutes I had a splitting axe and trumpet + 45 rounds.

I went to the top of a fire station and caught sight of an infected maybe 300 yds out (barely a dot) across a field and managed to hit it or aggro it (=/=) and draw it below me where I dispatched her with a head shot.

I'm feeling the itch.

Think I'll hop in for bit now and see what happens.

Edit: Anyone seeing a DOS window when you boot up after the BE update? I think it says something about a win32dll file being blocked, dayz.exe being blocked, and a couple other things, but for me everything booted up and closed fine.

As far as the DOS window goes I am getting that for just a second as I log in through Steam.

As for getting on now, well, good luck.  Since stable is down for maintenance I imagine the great unwashed hordes of bandits, KOS kids, CoDers, hackers, squeakers, hoppers, server Nazi's and hippies have taken over the Experimental servers (see, THAT is how experimental elitism is DONE)..

Bet we get a wipe with the update tomorrow.  Would LOVE some night servers!!!!!!!!  Flare gun is as useless as a 13 year old during broad daylight.

edit:  Pings are outrageous, people are crazy and a bunch of experimental servers have been taken down.  Looking forward to a nice patch, some darkness and a character wipe on .55 tomorrow!

It's either seriously broken, or it's something big coming up.

I would think its the latter. That and they probably want to make sure everything is running a little smooth at least for experimental rather than you can only play every 5 minutes before getting booted lol.

I would definitely rather that they take their time with this one and get it right, lest we deal with a huge community backlash again about how "broken" the game is. This update is a changing a lot of behind-the-scenes parts of the game, probably more than most people realize, and the fact that it's taking a little bit longer to get it polished should be no surprise.

Generally, I spend as much time on Experimental as I can. It's got its own unique brand of fun that I identify with well. But even I have been holding back playing much of 0.55 Experimental, instead preferring the solid experience of post-hotfix 0.54 Stable.

^I really like how in experimental our characters have an extra short life span. It adds a sense of urgency for me....

Agree, except for the last part. I genuinely enjoy the new zombie AI even though they were terribly buggy, so I have been playing very much on the 0.55, although it was a rather lonely experience.

Zombies were definitely more of a threat, not just because of their desyncing and nosound movement (although in great part also due to that), but they had also been buffed. No more one hit KOs with fists, and they could take a lot more damage from melee weapons. The fact that you could also stealth your way around them meant a lot, so when you came to an area that was very infested with zombies, you could stealth your way around it and choose to bypass it completely, and since they were a threat, this would often be the option if you were low on health and bullets or only armed with an inferior melee weapon.

In short, it has suddenly become a zombie game and I enjoyed that very much, even with its obviously massive problems.

I'm assuming the central economy is what didn't make it  based on what's been said on twitter.

544.5 MB when updating from the last experimental.

Logged in; still have my char from last experimental. For some reason all of the exp servers have very high ping for me.

Prior to about 6 months ago, I had denounced it altogether and saw no point in using it. I still think it's an incredibly stupid and pointlessly limited method of communication, but I now use it only a daily basis almost exclusively for DayZ-related reasons. Ugh lol

0.55.127059 is the version number I'm seeing.

Looks like all servers aren't back on line yet possibly.

I did, finally, one hit kill a zed right on the bean with a fire axe.  Put the bitch right down.   That was nice.  Weird too, it was in a fire house.  I watched her go in but when I went in I didn't see her, she just sort of appeared out of no where.   She hit me a whole bunch but did no damage to me or my gear.

Twitter is perfect for the politically correct.  It only allows for talking points rather than a real discussion.
