Anyone else playing as a hoarder currently?

Recommended Posts

I've had bad luck with interactions so far.  After playing over 110 hrs, and on my fourth character to make it through a few larger cities and military sites, I am now sitting on top of a pile of drybags with an MP5K, extra SKS, extra sawed-off, and a pistol grip MP-133; as well as random attachments for AK's, and various pistols / mags / ammo that do not match.

Given the current state of server resets, and since my character with the military tent got KOS'd; I'd like to trade.  Anyone interested can reply here and I'll set up a scavenger hunt and we can swap server info.

It is kinda frustrating that it is so difficult to find people in-game that won't kill me before I can tell them I'm just giving away decently rare gear.

110 hours... with that much gear... do you play on populated servers? If you happen to bounce on servers with pops between 1-5 people it's easy to get geared to the gills and overflow - best advice is to join a server with a mid-high population and do something with that gear, otherwise it's like picking flowers for momma and never bringing them home. There's no fun in that...

I'm playing as a hoarder and having trouble stopping myself.
Thank God I lost my 4 military tents or I would be hoarding even more stuff that I wont end up using.

If they try and kill you they don't deserve your stuff, However you could attempt to shoot people in the leg, Handcuff them and then force your gear upon them.

No point really to hoard stuff since persistence data will get wiped regular ;)

4 FREAKING MILITARY TENTS?! IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!

JK but the handcuffing and forcing the gear upon them sounds interesting ;D

I found two on separate occasions, while on the way to the tent that I found after searching for hours.

I can't remember how I got the other tent? At that point I didn't pay much attention to tents because I already had enough storage.

I kinda hoard aswell. I've always looked for the rly interesting stuff and tried to find an optimal lootout. Still try to find that smersh vest again, lost my last one about a week ago :(

But anyway, you sir a pushing the hoarding adiction to a whole new level. 4 military tents, that's just insane (and I rly envy you right now)

yeah be good to find in game friends rather than get killed by people as soon as they see you, dont see many of them who kill me even. how boring hiding and waiting for someone to walk past to just kill them

Never fear sir. While you can find the small tents in the large apartment buildings around Cherno fairly easily and military tents in the bunker buildings you find in the military tent loot areas (like next to NWAF), they are a waste of your time. They stick out like a sore thumb and can be replaced with something much more simple and much more common.

Drop weapons on the ground in pine trees. They are easy to hide and will stay there on persistent servers. Anything else can be put in to a backpack and hidden in a tree or a bush. You can find viable locations to create a stash just about anywhere and the chance of it being found is pretty damn low.

I recommend makeshift backpacks as they camo the best and are the smallest physically for the amount of stuff you can put in them (leather ones made from boat pelts). I have had several stashes all over the map on different servers using this and the only thing that has ever caused me to lose this loot is the scheduled maintenance and my server dying all together. It's never been found.

I don't hoard, I load up with what I need and go from there, with how the game is currently and the amount of cheaters I've been running into on a daily basis, storing extra gear and tools seems like a huge waste of my time, so until things get sorted out, I'll stick to grabbing what I need, and nothing more.

I've found five so far. They generally spawn in the domed tents in tent city at NWAF and Myshkino.

I am a more and more a believer in game play freedom, if you like hoarding that's you biz. Just remember running around with all that fancy gear makes you into a walking ATM if your not careful. But hoarding is not something I do any longer, unless its food. The reason is because no peice of gear makes you god like, and collecting a ton of rare gear just makes death way worse. I normally have desired kit that I go after, then I stop looting for gear. I am also not a helicopter hunter. But I a opportunist, If I happen to run across something I will take it.

Now more ever too, I am a wookie lol I can only carry a limited amount anyways..he he

I'm more of a stasher than a hoarder.  I've found 3 miltents so far and currently have one going but I think it's actually a disadvantage as it's relatively easy to spot.   I'm not a gun hoarder so I dont get an advantage from the wider tent slots, although I do love the tent because even though you can't start fire inside of one, you *can* start a fire and then pitch the tent on top of the fire (keeping you dry).  Backpack stashes are they way to go.  I use mostly sposn stashes in the woods because they are waterproof, fairly high capacity and easy to hide around pine trees.  I keep my fishing bag near my favorite fishing hole, my hunting bag near my hunting grounds, my fire/cooking/food bags near my camp and my mp5k stash not too far from my favorite military barracks.  Each bag gets a base level of canteen, shoes and rags, if I find an extra morphine I'll throw that in too.  Also, I've found that using bright/obvious child's backpacks in cities make good stashes because I can leave them in plain view and they're mostly ignored.

I had a nice pristine military tent and then the persistent server stopped being hosted.

I usually do as CJFlint, look for a specific set of gear. I don't have too much patience to search for loot tbh.

I wish I had your self control.

To give an example, I was playing a private server character last night. This character has 5 guns, It had 6 but I chucked the pump shotgun when I got sick of running slow.

Does the character need a CR75 and a 1911 on top of a magnum and Longhorn.

No.

Will I throw them away as long as I have clips?

No.

He also has two pristine first aid kits.

Do I need two?

No.

Will I throw either of them away?

No, One of them is filled with Epinephrine and morphine because once again I couldn't pass it up.

I just stuck with the first server I found with reliable FPS and minimal desynch; not into server-hopping for loot, i can scour the one I am on quite well.  I found a truck last night, and simply want to give away/trade what I can't keep to try and meet some people.

I believe I expressed the futility of my stockpiling, this post was an attempt to put my exploration and collecting this week to good use. ; )

I've considered that option, but so far the only contact I've had for days was a creepy-as-heck rabbit; slow half-steps punctuated by two half-gunshots and two half-zombie howls, repeating over a few minutes before I chickened out and logged out in Grishino PD.

I use this tactic already, and much to my delight, many of my stash bags have been recoverable by re-spawning into the same server and surviving long enough to go check the spots.  I learned my lesson picking a different server from history when the "play" button sent me to the server list; my memory for stashes is perfect, I knew that's where  I put my tent, and finding the right server proved it when I spawned in the middle of it.

My point was that currently this persistence is weekly, so I want to trade or set up scavenger hunts for fun before the loot disappears.

I have many P-1 pistols,  a couple CR pistols, FNX mags, an MP5K, repeater, SKS, CR rifle, and all kinds of ammo an' food and attachments that I want to trade/reduce/give away before server reset on Wednesday.

No tools, except hacksaws; I mostly collect Sawed-offs and pistols, and magazines/attachments.

I want to be a trader / treasure map vendor.  I am perfectly happy scooting around the map collecting decent gear.  I am looking for a way to distribute it without restarting a character.  I only need a couple hours to find everything I need, considering that I don't server-hop and that heli-spawns don't happen on my server right now.  I just want to meet friendly people to play with, and I though trade/donation might be a KOS deterrent.  What do I care if i get robbed?  It would take four to six players to carry off all of my gear from even one drop site; maybe three if they only took the good stuff.  I'd actually appreciate a handcuffed sprint to a bag-drop at this point.
