  1. I haven't seen a z phase through a wall in months. I was even able to lock them in buildings on a couple of occasions, which is kinda nice as a new spawn. They sometimes ignkre solid rocks though. I saw one running through a part of the cliff near that large city with the fire station at the NE of the map. I've seen some z's dieing because they ran down a hill to fast. They lost contact to the ground and died due to falling while I was just fine, same thing happened to a deer yesterday. I'm curious if a stealth gameplay will work properly after the next z ai improvements. Atm I use the fact that nobody seems to pick up the 5.45 ammo, silenced ak rules

    Traps: Trip-lines, land-mines, and claymores...

True I forget abou the upcoming hardcore servers. That would certainly be handy when it comes to bases. I would probably still prefer the middle-of-nowhere approach so I can hide a car there. I wonder if you will ever be able to put a set up a trap in a car

    Weapons Expertise Skill System

I disagree. A fight should be and cirrently is determined by the player's tactical position, knowledge about the games mechanics and experience. Judging distances, knowing the area, teamwork (a scout can be a huge advantage), experience with your weapon and equipment. That's the stuff that matters most when it comes to gun fights in dayz. This is some kind of skill system, but its not toed to your char, but to the player. I just don't see a the need for it. Stress and keeping yourself calm and concentrated already are parts of the game. I've played in groups of 2 to 4 people and have seen many stupid things happen because people were scared. Experienced players completely missing theire target with a full magazin or running off... the permadeath and steep learning courve of dayz make a skill system mostly obsolete in my opinion

    Suggestion for the Future (Survival)

I understand your thoughts but I'm not sure if this would solve the problem. Reduced foot will make people kill for food instead of boredom... I think that people need something to do, aside from looting and pvp. Farming and all that stuff could still help with that. A finished persistence mechanic is what might actually help to get there. If you have a camp and are looting for a reason, for example to find stuff to improve your base or repair a car, I think it's more likely that pvp will reduce a little. I see boredom and the fear of loosing everything as the motivations of KoS, a base to store backup supplies/equipment could help here. Dayz will never be a friendly place full of rainbows and unicorns, which is a good thing, but a little more interaction would be nice

    Hey... You friendly?

Browsing through the steam forum for no good reason, I found a thread withs someone asking for help, cause he broke his leg on top of a tall building. So I was like, nothing to do anyway..., and ran from NW AF all the way to the tall town hall at novo (NE of the map). He actually was still there and I patched him up. I think we were both equally afrait of catching a bullet. He later asked me if I knew that he could have killed me. I told him "I know, and I knew it back then". He is a rly bambi, but I think I can teach him enough to make him a usefull buddy. I like to loot military locations in a team of two. Lets see how that works out. I usually go for a simple "Hello, how're u doin?" when approaching someone. I don't approach anyone with his gun in his hands. So to all the people that wonder why they never meet the friendly people: we friendly folks are just that, friendly, not suicidal ;) KOSed only once and felt horrible afterwards (not counting the couple of fights at airfields, cause airfields)
  6. I kinda like tetris backpacks. It takes time t arange and sort stuff. It also tskes time to loot. That makes it extremely intense imo. it forces you to sit down in a safe place once in a while. It's kinda good if you are in agroup to do that after a team fight or airfield raid as it gives everyone some time to discuss what happened, calm down and concentrate again but I guess it wouldn't make any difference to me if the system gets changed as long as you still have to have those time outs at a camp fire once in a while

Ability to collect gun powder from ammunition!

How about you need to find a plastic pipe (casing), some fireworks (to delay the explosion), a couple of nails or small metal scrap (improvised splinters) and extract gunpowder to craft a small pipe bomb? The damage should still be rather weak (hurting, bleeding, maybe a broken leg, but no insta kill). I would like to see that kind of improvised explosives being used for defensive traps in baricaded buildings (yeah I've been playing metro recently :P ) or to attack a baricaded position

    Traps: Trip-lines, land-mines, and claymores...

True, but tbh a base in one of the big cities is rather pointless due to the fact that they are all relatively near to the spawn areas. Even if your trap kills a greedy bambi, nobody is stoping him from respawning and walk into that base again :/ But you definetly have a point. How about those two ideas: 1 - a "dinner bell"-trap, basically an alarm that draws every zombies attention within a 1000m. Have fun defending yourself with your back against a baricaded wall. That should at least stop the fresh spawns 2 - gun traps won't kill you if you have at least a worn tac vest and you cant deploy more than a single trap within a 2m distance. That should keep the trolling to a reasonable amount. Wired grenades or mines however still have a chance to kill you instantly, but are rky rare unlike the other stuff

What gun was your first shooting kill with?

Scoped mosin double kill from inside of one of those huge apartment buildings north of balota. Nobody is allowed to shoot my buddy and is getting away with his stuff :P revived his unconscious char and then we both got sprayed to hell by another dude with an m4...

    Weird Growling..

I heard a zombie nearby as I was looting and was chilled cause I knew it wasn't aware of me. Then it agroed... that's a good reason to panic because it means there is another player nearby I died shortly after because I was dumb enough to let the newest member of our group do the spotting -___- I should have trusted my ears and instinct...

Anyone else playing as a hoarder currently?

I kinda hoard aswell. I've always looked for the rly interesting stuff and tried to find an optimal lootout. Still try to find that smersh vest again, lost my last one about a week ago :( But anyway, you sir a pushing the hoarding adiction to a whole new level. 4 military tents, that's just insane (and I rly envy you right now)
  12. Prophet_01

    The reason behind KoS: ?

I usually don't do it. I still picked afraid of death, because there are circumstances that make me do it once in a while. I'll definetly shoot if I see someone on an airfield or military camp (and only there!) with a rifle and I also don't have a way to escape or if my buddy is in cornored like this. Other than that I usually avoid it and just retreat. No point to risk my char over the loot of a single military camp. And I also don't get much satisfaction out of ruining someone elses day... it's a good feeling though to stomp someone who clearly tried to ambush your buddy, I'm usually pretty mercyless in those cases
  13. I like modularity aswell. Also, I don't rly think a hierarchie and a specific role for each weapon is necessary. Afterall I consider the vast difersety to be a feature that increases the survival/post apocaliptyc feeling. You use what you get and not necessarily pick what's the best choice for each member of a tactical squad

    Traps: Trip-lines, land-mines, and claymores...

While I basically like the idea I'm rly afraid of what would happen if you implement them. I would like most traps like guns wired next to doors etc to srsly hurt, but not kill you as long as you aren't injured already. Or at least let the tactical vest be an ensurance. The traps that kill instantly like actual mines or wired grenades should be rediculusly rare. Otherwise I would expect military locations or the area around those to be almost impossible to loot :/ without server restards the number of those traps is going to increase rapidly. On servers with high population there are many shootouts, try to run and get to cover in a mine field

    Nuclear area

Just stumbled across this thread. I like the idea of a small area with radiation. But I also think that a nuclear power plant wouldn't be that realistic and would also have to cover a huge area of the map to be even remotely believeable. So how about a crashed train that transported nuclear waste instead? With that kind of source the area wouldn't have to be all that big to be believeable. A crashed convoy of trucks might also work. Such an area could be somewhere near the border of the map and contain one big-ish town to make it interesting. Since that kind of vehicle wouldn't be destroyed out of nowhere there might be the need of a plausible explaination to the player. I picture something like a bridge that colapsed with that transport vehicle on top of it and some of the containers got damaged and poluted the area. The surrounding of the crashsite could look like an ambush happened, a couple of desperate survivors saw a heaviliy guarded transport and thought there would be supplies so they sabotaged a bridge or the tracks. Some corpses of survivors and military guards aswell as traces of a fire fight could make the whole scenario plausible. Thoughts?
