public non pvp servers... any of them really non pvp?

Recommended Posts

I've been playing for about a month now and I really like the game but I keep getting killed by players on non pvp servers.  Is this typical?  If so are there any servers that are truly non pvp.  I really just want to explore for now and I don't want to worry  about other players.  Tonight there was a group of four or five people working together in full military gear that killed me.  I'm literally just running around when I get killed so 'm thinking that this is just the way it is and there's no way to control it, yet.

If that's the case that's fine I just figured I'd ask instead of trying that task anymore and getting killed when I don't expect it.

Great game by the way.  First game in a long time I've gotten into.

I'd assume there's private servers where you have to be whitelisted to get in, but otherwise there is no such thing as a friendly server. Ever. However, if you stay up North and take things slow and stealthy, usually you can get out of even dangerous military bases without a scratch. Also, if a server says "friendly", there's probably 10x more KoS'ing going on.

Ahhh so the "friendly" servers are kind of newb traps unfortunately, I'm glad I learned that.  Well the one of the cool things about this game is there's so many ways to play it : )

Thanks

It is against server rules to advertise as 'Non PVP' on a public hive server.  Feel free to report them so they get their server taken away without a refund (don't have the link handy)

I guess the only thing that would worry me about alienating noobs is that they could very well get discouraged from playing.  I didn't really care cause I knew not to invest in gear since I die a lot hah but yeah I see the reason for the rule for sure.

there are private PVE servers that i have seen. there are servers to fit whatever play style you want like RP,PVE,PVP etc and i'm sure as the game progresses even more styles and preferences just wait till modders get a hold of it in the future it might end badly or it might be the best thing ever we'll have to see just give it time.

I was having the same problem.

I literally sneak around towns now, no running around in the middle of the road etc.

seeing dead fresh spawns in a town is not a good sign either.  There seems to be snipers everywhere.

Try gearing up on low player servers.

Thanks for the all the info.  I should have included that most people I meet in the game are great and I've had almost all good experiences.

Those 'No PvP' servers are the worst. It's 20% people expecting not to get shot, and 80% people who joined because the other 20% are such easy marks.

Most PVP I've ever had was on "Friendly, no KOS!" servers. I guess assholes go there because they think its easier to kill people that aren't trying to kill you back.

This is DayZ. PVP is going to be everywhere. The only way to avoid it is to play on servers that you have to be whitelisted to join. If you are into Role-Play I would definitely recommend you to check out http://www.dayzrp.com/. KoSing is not aloud. The only way to get killed is if you are hostile to them first.

I always joined No PVP servers because we always knew there'd be people trying to pvp.

If you really want a no pvp server, try playing on a private server.  Though, you won't be able to do all that server hopping for loot to look badass while you're interacting with no one, so there is that.

Heh yeah I had good gear once but I die too often to worry about that stuff.   I usually carry as much junk stuff as I can so when I die the only loot my killer gets are books and damaged clothing :)

No none of those servers you see with No KoS/PvP/Banditing ect. are actually that.

These servers typically attract even more people who do those things, such as servers titles, "High-loot" entice server hoppers/looters to join.

Of course, in most cases anyone can get whitelisted just by registering on a forum. And neither the game or battleeye record when you kill another player, and it's unlikely the victim will get the name of their killer before being killed. So even on a Whitelisted, strictly no PVP server, you can expect there to be people there to kill you.
