What do you do after Gearing up?

Recommended Posts

I Was just wondering what everyone tends to do after gearing. Because that's the time where i can often get bored of DayZ, so i wondered what do you guys do?

You could...

look for a truck

look for better guns

explore part of the map you haven't visited

head to a mil base or the coast for pvp

help out new spawns

kill new spawns then eat them

choose a role, and try to play it

lots of different things

Find your purpose.

Some become cannibals. Some killers. Some heroes. Some comedians.

Its up to you to find the reason you play outside of collecting shiny things for no real reason at all unless you find that point of why you play outside of looting ;)

Many players tend to return to the coast to pvp or to kill bambis...

Personally, since i play only in private hives, when i have finished to gear up i leave the server and i don't log in it anymore lol.... I have like 15-16 servers in my favorites where i have "maxed-out" characters

Find a tent, drop everything into it and start again? But yes, I tend to get into PVP mode, (Not KOS.) after I'm geared. Although I sometimes start dumping unnecessary gear, double up on the important stuff like matches and can openers or extra pistols and try to give them away to new spawns. Being fully geared though I am not often trusted.

I give myself little quests like:

- Walk the coast looking for nets to craft a Ghillie, do not fire unless fired upon.

- Find a tent, make a base in a high traffic area, see how much I can get into it before the inevitable conflict.

- Go to a coastal city, hunt for snipers in the treeline.

- Try to build a fire on every street corner of Elektro, and break a chemlight in every building I can. I love to watch people's reaction to that one.

Every once in a while I'll try and set up a row of stores, put one of each gun in one, everything first aid in another, food in one, etc... but its never really rewarding because nobody ever roleplays or talks. They just loot up and run or try'n kill me.

I sit and wait hidden near a hotspot for players wanting to test their metal, wait to hear guns go off such as Mosins and try to hunt them down and take out a few, as there can be only one Sniper.

That's a great way of putting it. Gear should be a means to an end, not an end in itself.

I do the Elektro camp fire thing too, to make it more interesting operate one as a free BBQ for survivors. Have some deer, boar and mystery steaks all cooked up. I like doing this on rainy servers near twilight. Of course, flares and chemlights all over the place too. I'll usually hide my guns and other gear somewhere nearby but isolated just in case, but it's surprising how most people are just surprised that someone is doing something other than shooting them.

I just wander around till I find people, then generally kill them. Repeat until my eventual death.

I like to travel back to the coast and attempt the stay alive as long as possible. Tracking is fun. I always end up falling through the ground. Rinse and repeat.

My gear is there to serve my purpose. Usually I'm down with my buddies doing counterbanditry on the coast (can't do that as a freshie.) PvP to keep the kids safe.

I go hunting, lately I have been going onto another private shard and just starting up a new character there.  I try different routes.  I have been thinking of basing in one location and seeing how long I can live there before some one kills me.

After gearing up I think to myself: "That was easy. Way too easy in fact."

Then I wander around trying to find the truly rare stuff like non-coast-hugging players and such.

I usually end up falling through a floor, or being attacked by an invisible zombie, or a tree, or some other interesting exploration of alpha mechanics. But that hasn't happened for a long time now, and my current char is my longest lived yet (about three months I think - since the 0.49 wipe).

I mainly trade, which is a nice dynamic between hunting down rare loot and meeting other players. Other than that I explore the map, do a bit of living off the land, and help freshies when I can.

I log on servers with 5 or less people and within a few minutes see a server hopper on NWAF so I kill them.
