What's your favorite weapon?

Recommended Posts

Now we all different styles of play lets be respectable about that. I like to snipe with a mosin, if I'm lucky enough to to gun a man down with an m4 i will gladly take it. I also don't mind an sks here and there. I'm not a fan of the AKs and i only like one pistol (the magnum). But my all time favorite is the crossbow too bad bolts are scarce.

I'm not much of a fan of any of the current guns.  The double barrel and magnum are probably the only ones I actually like.

I do like to snipe too though, so I'll use the mosin but I'm not particularly attracted to it, it's just the only real option.

I'm looking forward to more variety.

I like the SKS a lot, had my best runs with it. Then there is the mosin, the UNRELIABLE mosin! U can oneshot someone at 400 meters yet sometimes u need 4 hits to down someone at point blank range, the reason behind this might be an unrealistic gameplay aspect. When using the mosin normally u want to make ur shots count and aiming at the center of the body mass (chest) makes sense but actually it's worse than aiming at the legs because when u aim at the chest u hit: 1- The vest; 2- The jacket/shirt/whatever; 3- The backpack; 4- Everything inside them!

With an SKS/AKM (more spammy weapons) a shot or two might hit their legs/head resulting in more damage, thus killing your opponent.

My list would go SKS>AKM>Mosin.

For pistols FNX45>M1911>Magnum

I favor the SKS over the AKM for a personal preference. On DayZ SA, for some reason I tend to use the AKM on full auto mode wich makes me miss (maybe because dumping 75 rnd mags is so tempting?) while in the mod I never fired any weapon (except LMG on prone position) on a full auto mode/bursts.

Probably that will change in the future when I get more used to the AKM wich sincerely I haven't used as much as the SKS, mainly because half of the times I see an AKM and I have an SKS I'll just stick with the SKS anyway.

My preference list goes like SKS>AKM>FNX45 pistol>Magnum.

I love the SKS and I hate the new CR Carbine because when i have SKS ammo I have to share it with teammates carrying that horrible weapon(no offense to the devs etc but with no mag found it 's as usable as a pistol with no mag)

When I see an AKM I'm always tempted and I go for it if it has enough mags.I'm more the "assault guy" who goes inside buildings, trying to get that sniper out.Almost every time I get tradekilled but it's fine,I got used to it,that's my playstyle,I have no patience :)

I have even sniped one man with a badly damaged PU scope. He was standing top of the TEC building in Berezino and I was on the roof of the apartments.

I tend to miss a lot with AKM though, maybe because I fire like 10-20 shots at once

Hard to say... my favorite:

-Rifle: Mosin

-2nd Primary: M4

-Pistol: Longhorn

-Melee: Fire Axe

-Shotgun: Sawed Off

If I could only have one... Mosin

Nicely structured post so far with varied tastes based on personal reasons. I like that.

On topic, personally it's the 1911. I always loved it's real life counterpart and even though it's not the best pistol in the game, it's a very efficient and elegant weapon in my opinion. The engraved 1911 is a beauty.

Second best is probably the M4. I hated the sound when the alpha came out and I'm glad they changed it. With it's attachments and paint option, I like the varied looks it can have. (I know the AKM and AK101 are similar in customizations, but the designs of those weapons are very different than the M4 and even though I love them, I had to pick personal favorites.)

Last choice would be an FNX. Being the first weapon I used in the Stand Alone, and probably the one I used most, it's reliability and nostalgia factor makes it one of my favorite gun in the game even though I had, and have no interest at all in it's real life counterpart.

AK-47 or SKS, no sight systems, attachments, or paint- regular mags/no stripper clip;   besides 9mm, 7.62x39 is the most plentiful ammo I've found.

CR75 with a flashlight only;  9mm is very easy to come by and my partner uses the MP5, so we have some common ammo. Flashlight for dark spaces

Fire Axe unpainted;  I might paint it black if I'm wearing the paramedic jacket.

maxed out weapons with every attachment just don't appeal to me.  If the CR 527 used 10/15-round mags I might use it instead.  I do like its noise.

Definitely the sporter .22 (even with no mag. Makes you aim more), sawed off shotgun with 30 rounds, and maybe an SKS in my hands if I feel threatened.

The shotgun is a fucking monster in close quarters.

Oh, and a Makarov. My ultimate favourite DayZ weapon, straight from the mod!

I'm a fan of the AKM. Not big into PVP I just love the way it looks and how much it represents the Eastern European setting. No attachments, metal 30 round magazines. My first one, the one I've had since they were introduced (and up until a few days ago, lost to random throwing bug) had a black painted stock I made by accident that made it kind of unique, as the paint texture isn't perfect and looks somewhat worn. It also had a weapon light glitched on the foregrip (after which I reported it to the bug tracker) until my friend took it off to make the attachments show up again. :P

The magnum is probably my favorite pistol, though by the time I find one I've already got a 1911 or CR75 with a flashlight and a couple mags.

Like I said, not too into the PVP and combat and only recently had some more experience with it. I tend to carry whatever kind of character or challenge I feel like having at the time. The CR527 carbine is a very cool weapon and would like to try building a character around it some time.

hands down used to be the fnx45, but I haven't seen .45 ammo outside of mags since the last patch.  not one single damn box or loose bullet.

now it's an axe.  and they tried to take its ammo away too.

Used to be Magnum/Mosin. Now it's Shotgun/Mosin.

Automatic weapons are for baddies.

For me it has to be the m4 (shame I can't find them anymore) and the sawn-off. I like to charge in and be in the middle of the action and those two guns work nicely for me.

M4 all day. Forgiving bullet trajectory (less bullet drop) coupled with various optics and a high rate of fire make the M4 the most versatile weapon in the game. And the recent shortage of ammunition has made me play the game like I used to during the mod.

The recent revision of the attachment mechanic has made my stock M4 into a effective all-arounder.

M4, AK101, MP5, SKS-PU, FNX

I specialize on close quarters and never actually snipe. Max range I usually engage is 300m. I also used to like shotguns back when they worked properly. Helped to conquer many a building.

Give the shotgun a try again, they don't work properly but they're borderline overpowered right now.  They're effectively shooting a very strong slug.

B95 and magnum. B95 cos i try to avoid fire fights, but it fires two high powered rounds in quick succession if needed.

The Screwdriver

Quick jab to a zed's left temple and it's lights out. Against other players I use the F1 key, results vary...

I think the Mosin, it feels right in DayZ.. somehow M4's and Ak's just doesn't feels right, as for most "military" grade weapons. I will like to see more Hunting rifles and civilian weapons in my opinion.

I've been rocking the blaze in experimental and it's given me more success than any other weapon I've tried with the exception of the m4 on my regular character. I also prefer it to every other weapon I've found though and passed up upgrading it to akm, mosin, sks etc.

Getting a proper hard on for it.

I think with next update there will be more Sporter 22 fans, when 30 rounds magazines will spawn on civilian loot

Sporter is still an underrated and unstimated gun.

its lacks are accessories and can't zoom in....but if you shoot to the head at a medium range, bullet won't drop and it's a clean shoot to the head

The bullet says it all 22 L.R

Which stand for Long Range

22 can reach long distance, its only problem is that is soo light that might change direction. But it is the bullet of the Killer

But that's not what I need when clearing a building

No, it stands for Long Rifle. I don't know what it stands for but I do know it doesn't mean Long Range ...
