d.walker43 196 Posted July 2, 2014 Hi guys, so I have a question/concern based on what some friends told me. Is It true that they are done updating dayz, or is this only a rumor? I was told that since Rocket is leaving at the end of the year, the team was just gonna call it quits on the project. The dev team is awesome and have been doing great, so I didn't believe it when I heard it. There is still a lot more work to do in game, so I hope its not true. BI have developed ARMA and this game is constantly being improved and so will DayZ SA, even after Dean leaves.Looking at some of the resent suggestions Dean made I think it's best that he is leaving. Dean does want to step down, I believe (no source to confirm) he will stay on as lead if he's not happy with where things are at the end of the year. And it's not like the other devs are godlike, either.He provides a hand in the changes and procures ideas, but in the end he's mostly a figurehead. Sort of like the emperor for a lot of Japanese history, he was always the leading figure, but he didn't actually have that much power post 12th century.Or you could take a more relevant example; Notch, from Minecraft. He created Minecraft much in the same way as Dean; as a small project with relatively little support that eventually grew in extreme popularity and gained a large team with massive attention fairly quickly. However, Notch later handed over the project once development was pretty far ahead. It's what tends to happen when small projects that were never intended to grow large end up doing so. The creators and lead are usually the ambitious type who know they aren't fit for leading a big idea forward, and they hand it over to someone who can. This doesn't always happen and I'm not even saying it happens the majority of the time, but it does happen a lot. WarZ (or what it's called now) is games that took so many short cuts I feel sorry for the people that bought into it and even the SOE guys have realized they can't release their buggy game yet. :lol: I was watching a vid from SOE's H1Z1 yesterday and that game is so buggy it is unbelievable. If it was just the odd dear standing on a roof ok, but nearly everything is buggy and laggy.Then there are promises, 1000 players on a 450 km² map, currently they are lagging when only a few of the devs are playing on a 64 km² and still can't figure out how to implement picking up used arrows. :lol: :lol: :lol: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
