Collision Bug that kills players instantly.

I've found a bug that is collision related I believe, that will kill the player instantly while also removing his body from the server in the same instant. 

 

What I am wondering is has anyone else encountered this to some degree? Have you ever died while on a staircase, touching a ladder, walking into a desk, etc. and were fairly certain you were not shot, or perhaps even absolutely certain because a friend saw it happen, etc.? 

 

Im not looking for arguments or trying to shoot down the idea that this bug exists because it does. What I want is more info to help the devs as I know this will be a bugger to duplicate and fix... unless of course they are already onto that fix as this is a pretty old bug. 

 

So have you ever died mysteriously, but while interacting with the environment in particular ways? Discuss.

I had it happen once actually, i was in one of those cranes on the docks and crouched down to keep myself in cover, when I heard the bone breaking noise and the moody "you are dead", I was pissed off for about 10 seconds, then I just went back at it, decided it was a one off and tried again, and couldn't replicate it, so I guess it was just super bad luck.  

 

Shit happens I guess.  I'm sure eventually they will snipe all of these problems though.

Ive been on SSD since day 1. ;)

 

Stairs, a desk, large rocks, and ladders have all apparently killed me. The staircase was the most odd as my friend saw it happen and I just disappeared. Poof!

This could be a desync issue and that's why it's so difficult or impossible to replicate.

The server is trying to calculate your position due to your last position and movement input which will be totally different from what you see on your viewer.

in cherno southern hospital. 1st floor up (the one with the windows and the corridor full of benches against them).  Dropped a blood bag against the window to swap for a blood test kit then realised i had more shit i didn't want more than the blood bag so threw that out and then went looking...

 

no blood bag.

 

figuring it had to be around somewhere, i opened TAB up and started trawling the floor and walls around.  It seems to have gone invisible into the wall near the window where i dropped it, only accessable while running between the two benches (at the wall) with TAB opened up. 

 

You are dead

 

I was with my friend, and we were just joking around about him injecting me with an anonymous clear liquid that we found (he never injected me but i started getting suspicious at him at this point).

Turns out i'd ran through the sealed wall/window between the two benches and had fallen to my supernatural death behind the building.

 

that and falling down stairs while walking and breaking a leg, are the only two identifiable times.

I had this to happen to me twice now. Once I went up a stairwell, grabbed a drink, drank it, then suddenly my legs were broken. Thankfully someone was there to help me. 1-2 days later I encounter a player shooting at me. I take him down but let him live. I retreat to a building a few blocks away, went up a stairwell and crouched. Door was shut, no windows to snipe in, suddenly pain in my legs, boom, "You are dead."  :( I had so much cool stuff too </3

so it was the server, I'm pretty sure they get distracted easily so someone or something (another server perhaps?) distracted it while you were just running along at some point earlier and by the time the server remembered it was supposed to be keeping track of you, you had traveled far enough to be halfway round the world. of course the server has no idea where you are now so it just figgers it will pull you to the place you need to be (half way round the world) and you die a swift but horrible death while making your way through the center of the earth (servers apparently don't study geology) and that's why your friend saw you just disappear - you got sucked into the center of the earth.

 

ok enough levity..

 

I've been trying to think if I have had any suspicious deaths outside of the usual ladder-of-certain-death and I did recall it happening on the rocks at Veresnik. I was maybe a meter up on the rocks peeking into the base for movement and once satisfied that I was alone I went down the way I had gone up and "you are dead". this was like 2 months ago though so I don't know how relevant it is (of course it could have been a sniper but I was certain that I was certain that I was alone).

 

I do get a lot of glitch death overall.

 

I will note that on experimental today I was in the metal building with the blue doors on the ends switching out my backpack on the catwalk when I flashed black and white and got all of the broken leg messages twice (both legs I assume). it ruined my pants and all the gear in the pockets. I had been crouched and not moving with the inventory open for almost a minute when it happened. luckily I had an axe or I would probably still be there. so that's new for me. ...and people think I am silly for carrying extra pants...

hahah yes of course, I do not engage players in combat therefore I avoid players more than zeds ;)

 

I will shoot if I have to but I really don't want to.

 

omg just today I was on the phone with my son so I was using just the mouse keep an eye on things. I was crouched next to a small bush near the lighthouse at cherno - just sitting there talkin to my son - some guy comes running from a house about 400 meters away toward me. I brought the mosin up for a better look, saw the expression on his face, did not pull the trigger, put the mosin back down (not on my back) and watched him run right past me right on the other side of the bush. I was astounded. I turned and watch him search a car then look up at the lighthouse and hurry off to cherno.

 

edit: oops I forgot to mention that I die more to my own stupidity than I do anything else in the game including glitches (I step off edges and jump through windows) although glitches are a close second.

Died yesterday on the outer rim of the ACT, for now reason. Was that bug, since pants and boots have been ruined, suggesting bug rather then being shot. Also got my legs hurt while walking up the firestation tower, ladders....bed...alot more.

I installed an SSD recently and since then I've had this bug multiple times, but I think it must be coincidence (or atleast I hope :3), because I installed the SSD right before the next patch came out.

    I had just climbed the ladder of the school building in Krastanov, and right as I found a long-range scope, I fell and my legs broke. I was sure I hadn't been shot as I wasn't bleeding, I didn't hear a gunshot, didn't see blood spurt out, and I was crouching. In order to hit me on top of the school with the desync that happens on the ladder, from possible sniping spots (Probably around 600-1000m shots), you'd have to be one of the best snipers in the game. That glitch sucks and needs to be fixed.

i died in that room als twice now once layed down and the other time crouching 

suddly my leg and arm got broken and then i was dead !

Just yesterday, I was in Chernaya firestation, casualy going through the tower part and bam, broken legs, ruined pants....but I survived.

I didn´t had this bug so far. Just saw it in some videos, lets plays especially. So it existis, obviously.

In one video I saw it happen after the server restartet and the player spawned. He died instantly.

EDIT: the guy standing next to that player is his teammate, so there´s no way he shot him or something. I guess it is the bug mentioned in the first post.

Since it obviously seems to be inherent in the firehouse and jail buildings, I wonder if it wouldn't be an overall benefit to the game just to replace those buildings with new models? They are kinda outdated after all, and jailhouse fighting has long since turned into a predictable borefest anyways. Would help distance the SA from the mod as well.
