    Dayz dead

I mean, if you don't like something about the game you don't have to wait for the devs to fix it, you can jump in and start modding yourself, or just play Rust and leave DayZ behind? As a very wise woman once said "let it go, let it go...."

    Power Lines

Did you ever find them? DZ\structures\industrial\Power\ file names are Power_Pole_Wood with various suffixes...
  3. I'm trying to figure out where I can define and call an animation for a crafting recipe. I can see it's not from within the recipe itself, I've been searching through config files, for two days and I think it's time to admit defeat and ask... Thanks ahead of time. D Edit: should this have been posted in misc?
  4. right now just 32, but if we can fill that then we'll go higher of course.
  5. One last thing, before anyone gets upset about the name, BellendZ, it'd not rude, it's where I'm from, Bell End, Worc's, UK. Out of the village as a kid we just embraced the fun and referred to ourselves as the Bellends. Link to maps... https://osm.org/go/euzAD8Fc
  6. Hi people. If you're looking for a server that is just a little more like things used to be a few years ago, then this might be for you. This IS NOT a 'high loot' server, there is a little more food spawning to get going a little easier. Guns and ammo have been very slightly tweaked, and since no more spray cans, green, black and camo variants also spawn in. No specific play style, no server rules.. Old farts welcomed! Feedback will also be welcome via our own forum if you think sonething could be better.

    Servers with more Zombies?

Unfortunately this is the only provider, I guess Sony have a service agreement with them or something, so all community servers are the same.

    Servers with more Zombies?

Nitrado run all the servers for PS4, I have no idea what spec the servers are but basically you don't have a choice so it doesn't really matter. I've been playing about on my server with loot spawns and animal spawns, I think upping Zombies wouldn't be too much of a problem, I'll be trying that next, I also noticed there is a section in one of the XMLs for setting up animal spawns that has been commented out (so its not implemented) that seems to be for randomly spawning in "herds" of zombies the same way wolves, bears and other animals are spawned in, I'm going to try playing with that later and see if I can get anything to work, if it does I'll come back and let you know.
  9. I'm not going to get all fan boy about this and try to defend the indefensible, but we have to be careful not to mix up the management priorities with the actual team of people working on this, I know they are not in there trying to make a broken game, so I want to be clear I'm not having a pop at the guys doing the work on this (Nor am I having a pop at you bohicafool, it's unclear who you mean by "these developers" so I assumed you mean the company not the dev team). Outside of that I have come across from PC to PS4, because that's where all of my friends are playing. I've found it to be nothing short of a shock. I too am having a terrible time with items getting stuck in containers, some items not being accessible at all from the bodies of players. Spending hours searching for and collecting barrels, taking time tom conceal them and then filling them with items only to find I can't access most of them is a total slap in the face, and it's not like some kind of visual bug you can learn to ignore, this is a core mechanic that plum doesn't work. I remember a long time ago you'd have a chorus of "Alpha!!!" thrown at you for complaining about this kind of stuff and rightly so, but this is a full release game now and it's not cheap, so to find that several of the core mechanics are poorly implemented (catching a cold from being cold despite being alone is a total piss take) or have huge flaws in the case of containers and cars crashing the game if you drive too fast. This game has to be one of the most annoying games ever, to have so much untapped potential, its a real shame. I'd like to see a true to concept spiritual successor emerge from a studio that doesn't seem to have contempt for its customers on an engine that can actually handle everything it needs to do to work properly on any given platform, the current Enfusion engine is a joke on PS4.

    Logging out..?

This is sad, but yesterday after about three hours of playing and finding not a single firing gun on a picked clean server, I was in the town hall in Novodmitrovsk, and as I came around the corner there was a player stood in the corner of the room doing that creepy logout thing where they look around the room with empty eyes. Of course, I punched him out, took his shotgun and killed him, took what stuff he had and then checked the player list, there was no one else on the server, so this poor bastard had literally logged off in the only place on the map there was another player, I bet when he logs back in he wll be convinced his character was lost and not killed by me. I love killing people that have logged out, it feels naughty.
  11. Might also try for this, seems like it could be a hoot, I'll be sitting at the bus stop wearing a pink carnation, if I can't find a pink carnation, I'll wear a lady bug backpack. Just imagine being the only lone wolf on the server and seeing a congregation of 30 odd people somewhere. Also have to do it based on time, Germany are playing Sunday night so... like that will factor in. Sssssscccchhhland!

    Sniping and Handguns.

I'm impressed that so far this seems like a pretty friendly thread, everyone seems to be chipping in. I think there is a hatred of snipers because of the nature of the kill, you never get to really see where it comes from, or at least if you get killed by an effective sniper, and I have a real respect for people that are sniping from distances of 7 or 8 hundred metres, I've found a few really great spots for sniping balota and that new town west of Svetlo, and a shit ton of positions around the very new large town, the beauty of that place is that most people would be expecting a sniper from those rock ridges, so they look there first, but there are a lot of places you can hide and get a shot off before changin position instantly and picking up your target from a new angle. I'd really love to get a small team of people who are serious about sniping, some backups for watch their backs and then a few runners who can sit down in the town to loot and hide the bodies, thus resetting the trap for new punters. I've done this with four people, but really you need at least six to be effective and constantly have two angles plus a backup on each with two people to run. Counter to what most peole might think though, I hope they don't introduce dedicated sniper rifles, the Moose Nugget has a certain "gully-ass" feel to it and makes me feel super immersed, and it's effective range is not crazy either, though the network bubble makes anything over 1km useless anyway I guess. I do hope they introduce jury rigged ghillie suits and the like, I imagine a few burlap sacks and green and black t shirts and tactical shirts would suffice for something like that (with a pair of scissors and a sowing kit) Plus, and hear me out on this, I'd love to be able to duct tape a long range scope to the side of assault rifles, not for shooting, obviously, but as a sort of ad-hoc telescope that isn't taking up inventory slots, I think taping all manner of shit to your rifle would be pretty great. and the burlap sack wrapping for a mosin with a long range...

    Sniping and Handguns.

For sniping you might need to do a bit of homework, much like a real sniper would have to, I have a few spots from which I snipe and I range certain land marks so I know how far things are at a glance, try and find buildings or trees that are at exactly 100, 200, 300 and so on metres away and make notes or drawings, you'll only need them for a short time before you learn what your ranges are and after a while longer you'll get pretty good at judging distance with no aid at all. here is a little image i printed off that I used to use for Svetlo' it's a spot i don't ever use any more so there is no harm in letting people see it now My advice for the practical side of it (making the shot) would be the same as H0nkX said, unbind your "hold breath" from zoom so you can zoom in and hold breath seperatly. Also try finding a spot with a few Zombies at distance and practice popping them, it's never the same as shooting a player as they are often running around erratically, but knowing where they are likely to stop for a second or two is also worth learning, the back of cars like police cars, in front of doors that may be closed on buildings or garages. Also, if you are using an area more than once, try looking around for a few spots that cover your area from different angles, then you can move from spot to spot once you have someone pinned down and they think they are safe from you, and you can often bring people out of cover by putting a few shots into whatever they are hiding behind, panic will usually take over and make people do stupid things. Watch out for clever players who will try to bait you into making shots and reveal your position so their mates can pin point you and always keep checking your surroundings for players trying to flank you, it's best to snipe in teams, someone with an assault rifle watching your back helps, or keeping entrances to a building covered if you are indoors. EDIT Another cool thing to note is if you take someone down, their body will usually start to sttract other players who will want to loot it, don't start shooting at people as soon as they appear, let them hang around the body for a while, maybe even let the first few go, they might have friends and thae them back for more, when they are looting, you have a very easy shot, but still best to lull them into a false sense of security.

It took me 103 hours til I came across....

That was me! only kidding, I would have made friends with you and played along side you through various escapades before taking you to a "cool place I know of" and then asking you to open a can of beans for me, before popping one in your head and taking all of your undamaged gear. God dammit, why KoS when screwing with people is way more interesting? People have no imagination any more. Great job of writing, I really enjoyed reading that, I'd give you my beans twice if I could.

    Pre-Outbreak Chernarus

My character was just on holiday with his family, he was a massive nerd and had talked them into going there because his favourite video game was based on the local landscape, when the infection broke out. Being the not so prepared type, they fell into the hands of a small group of people who enslaved them and questioned them about what they had. Upon realising they had nothing, they proceeded to murder his wife before his eyes, slowly slicing off swathes of her skin like thinly cut bacon, and frying them, feeding themselves and, once the starvation set in, him too. His son was kept in another room, where my character would hear the nightly screams, until one night they came no longer. He was comforted that in death his son was spared the terror he was exposed to in life, but swore to get revenge. After a few more days he managed break free from his prison while most of the group were out hunting and killed the remaining two, laying in wait he killed the others upon their return, he burned the bodies and buried his family. Now he roams the hills of Chernarus, a hunter amongst the hunted, a bounty hunter, a renogade.... Syke! he's just a local who happened to be on the beach with a flashlight and a battery.
