Remove fov option from game.

Recommended Posts

     1. There is a problem with fov in this game. Ability to adjust it can make sniping much more easy and that is just stupid. Its stupid because if Iam smart I will go to options and change my fov which will give me 2x more zoom. This type of thing is giving some ppl unfair advantage in game. Lets say that you are in gunfight with someone at 300m distance, if you lover your fov it will zoom and make it much much more easy for you to kill your enemy. Simply make one default value and thats it. I made a video so you can see just how much it affects game and how much more easy is to kill target when zooming using fov.

     2. Using scroll option for interaction needs to be changed. You need to make an option so that I dont get menu option when I press use button, but only if I start scrolling. Worst thing is if you have different mags for you m4, and you run across one of those gates that is difficult to open, so what it happens that you see option to interact with gates but if you only move your mouse a bit that option will disappear and instead of opening that gate menu will pop and if you press use again you will change your mag. So what you need to do is make it like this, use button should only be used to interact with world, not to open scroll menu, scroll menu should be opened when I start to scroll with my mouse. One of the reasons because this needs to be change is if few zombies are chasing you you cant spam open doors but you need to be careful not to change your mag, this kind of thing kills the immersion. You can tell team that is working on arma to change this as well  :), thx!

1. I don't think the FOV slider needs to be removed, but I do think that the min and max values need to changed.

2. That's user error. When you want to open a door just use your "use default action" key when you see the door open/close icon.

+1

It's a terrible thing. Want to change your FoV? Type it into the config and stick with it as in ARMA 2, don't see what's so hard about that. Instant double-zoom and lack of functional 2D rangefinding or mil-dot scopes are the results of this FoV slider...

1. If its zooms in our out it needs to be removed.

2. Problem is that on some gates that icon is fucked up, you hover over it and if you only move your mouse one bit it will disappear, so you cant spam use but need to be extra careful which is just stupid.

1. So instead of fixing the FoV it should be removed to make the game look stupid for everyone who does not use "the one and only screen size"? No - keep it but fix it while keeping minimum and maximum values in a realistic area.

2. Also happens with the use button (F) - you want to open/close a door? Better play a hide&seek minigame first because otherwise you will reload your weapon. Solution comes in two flavors: Door triggers should be much easier to find (aim at the door while standing close enough instead of aiming at a random point somewhere near the door) and F/Scrolling should not be used for reloading your weapon (we got R and the inventory screen for this).

You can already set the FoV to whatever precise levels you wish in the config so the slider just isn't needed. Adds nothing except problems.

Yeah FOV needs fixing, that is beyond any discussion.

I guess it is one of those things that will have to wait a bit.

Ain't changing FOV causing any mildots to be misaligned?
I remember back in mod, when I changed FOV, I could no longer use PSO scope on SVD, which irked the hell outta me.

1. Pretty much every game ever has an FOV slider, and if not then it should. A reasonable option would be to only allow users to change their FOV from the main menu. Everyone has different sized monitors and preferences, so enforcing a single fog setting for everyone isn't even an option as far as I'm concerned.

2. Again, that's taking an extreme measure to squash the problem instead of just fixing it. The "hitbox" on doors and gates needs to be tweaked, the feature doesn't have to be removed. :S

Yes, it does, but you could simply test and learn your new values same as the old values so if you didn't change up your desired FoV every week, not a big problem.

You shouldn't be able to change it while actually in-game.

Or make it so that FOV change does not introduce such a zoom.

I don't remember other games having zoom connected to FOV in such a noticeable manner.

This.

The FOV minimum needs to be adjusted closer to what normal view should be and then any movement of the slider increasing FOV will zoom out. Removing it completely is a silly idea as I get serious motion sickness from a narrow FOV plus when playing in 1PP servers it is totally unrealistic view and would ruin HC servers.

scoped or iron sigts fov should be locked, normal view fov still changable, surely thats the solution

Min. FoV is too low. Also they should make that scoped values don't change if you change FoV. For example scoped in is always 30 FoV even if you've set your FoV 50 or 130. Doesn't sound that hard change really...

You have to repeat that a little bit louder, I think not every one heard you.

I think this is the best solution.

Imagine if you have to trial and error your way to you favorite FoV setting and therefor you have to relog every time just to see if it looks good for you now. That sound awful.
