This isn't the first thread that I've seen this point made. People are actually complaining about zombies ruining their PvP experience and they aren't trying to be funny. That's fucking hilarious, but it hurts my brain. Go play ARMA. Seriously, are people this stupid? It's amazing what happens when 1.5 million people suddenly buy a game. They come on here acting like they have something significant to say when they suggest zombies are too annoying like that's not the entire point.

The zombies need work, but not so that they're easier, just so that they're not hard in a stupid way. But in general, this is exactly what DayZ fans have been waiting for. A zombie survival game where zombies are a primary threat, mixed in equally with the intense uncertainty of interaction with others. All the ARMA/COD/BF players might be upset but I'm glad this game is losing players like the OP and his crew of left mouse button pressers. Let them all leave in hordes and never come back. It is painful reading a thread like this.

I wonder if Youtubers are giving the wrong idea about this game.

As I said man, change the title, people will think you actually want to get rid of zombies, since some people don't know how to read long texts.

And why do people still think that he just wants to camp? What if he actually wants to do a Clan War? Big fights on DayZ are awesome IMO

Yeah, I'll get it changed. I think a mod has to do it. Also, some people can't comprehend that there are other things to do in DayZ besides run around trying to make their friends list longer by sharing beans with everyone. Been there, done that, moved on. 700 hours in, I find it necessary to make my own fun in this SANDBOX. There's no correct way to play; they attempt to force their play styles on others by acting like cheerleaders for Bohemia in any thread that complains about an aspect of the game, legitimate or not.

Zombies shouldn't just spawn out of nowhere, surely people can understand this point. It seems like a really really poor fix for the engine being unable to actually have hordes of zombies.

True, but it's kind of a tit for tat, wouldn't you agree? Players get to do a number of things that are 'unfair' to gameplay because the game mechanics aren't complete.

The way the zombies currently are does illustrate to an extent how players in the DayZ world will react to the hordes, whether there are a hundred zombies there at that moment or if they spawn in one at a time.

Zombies aren't and won't be a primary threat. They're always going to be something to think about and consider when you're debating on whether or not you want to risk ambushing three people for their supplies.

You guys would defend this game if they decided to add condoms as fucking earmuffs. Holy cheerleaders, Batman!

The zombies are ruining your experience and causing you to play less and that's all that matters to me.

Nothing to do with cheerleading, you just don't have an actual response.

I think this makes your argument flawed. This is not a game about clan pvp deatmatch.

Last I checked, there were no rules enforced in this game besides blatant griefing and racism.

My response has been all over this thread. The current implementation of UNLIMITED ZOMBIES spawning out of THIN AIR is stupid. What it all boils down to is you kids telling others they can't PVP in a game with military loot and guns. I'm willing to bet most of you are victims of KOS and your asses are still chafed.

If you're going to fuck with the core of the game, either wait until you're able to do it right, or leave it alone. I'm not quitting, we're just playing less because it's not nearly as fun. It's annoying.

Bring on the zombies. We'd love to be able to incorporate them into our field strategies on the fly, but you can't because they spawn randomly in perhaps the dumbest blanket fix ever. Wizard zombies ftw.

This thread isn't about what they will be, it's about what they are now. By the looks of the poll, more people think they're annoying than those who enjoy randomly spawning/unrealistic zombies.

P.S: You've got Rocket residue in your pom-poms.

The ones who realize that this is a place holder and don't need to whine and bitch about things that get implemented in an alpha as we know they are subject change

so you have NO problem with them spawning in front of you?

How bout them moving through walls?

All good then.. Ok...

Grimey, when you came to this game, and you read about it or watched a trailer/game-play video on YouTube for it, what was your first impressions about this game?

Sure you have played 700+ hours, and in that time you have grown not only as a player, but a individual as well, you have posted several responses as to your distastes for people who impose their playstyle on others, as well as those who feel that their opinions are the only ones that matter, on any subject really.

Yet you come in, and wave your post count and hours played around as some sort of medal, or justification as to how you and your friends play DayZ, stating that your friends and yourself play DayZ as one huge Clan on Clan battle royal, and state how Zombies with how they are now are interfering with the way you play, I'm not sure what your aim is for this post, but what I get from it is that you want the Zombies to be a mundane challenge in this game, where they are a easy obstacle to overcome so that your friends and you can continue to prove your superiority over other clans, by KoSing and all out PvP Deathmatching.

Others come in and share their opinions on how they feel about the Zombies, and they reflect on how your reasons may or may not be valid for changing Zombies into something easily overlooked, I don't know if this thread was worth making, because it seems to me that you just want to have a place to vent, and it's perfectly fine doing so on this forum, but neglecting the fact that people have differing opinions than yours, and referring to them as cheerleaders or fanboys, ect. is just foolhardy and rude.

I myself have played this game 725 hours, over those hours I have played the Hero, yes you might call me a Carebear or whatever you feel justifies you being right, and me being wrong. But I enjoy my way of playing this game, not because I spent 30.00 USD for it, but because I play how I want, same as you, but claiming your way is the only way because this "Sandbox" game isn't finished and it's the only enjoyable thing is strange.

This thread is a Poll, asking if the Zombies have ruined the game for us, because they have ruined your playstyle, people have voted, people have responded to your thread with their opinions as well as stating their playstyle and how while the Zombies need work, they haven't ruined anything besides being able to camp a hill, ect. and not expect to be creeped up on by undead.

I hope when this thread comes to a end, that you find closure, and if you don't feel as if you can still enjoy the game for what it is, I wish you and yours the best of luck finding a game that fits for you.

Am I satisfied with the current implementation of zombies? Yes, I am satisfied with the placeholder zombies.

Sure they're broken in their current form, but they're certainly a hindrance that adds more than a single dimension (PVP) to the game as before. I have no sympathy for people who say it ruins PVP. I mean, that's kind of the point, isn't it? When they're finalized they will be even more of a hindrance. This isn't exactly a "PVP Game". That's just one element of it.

DayZ fits, we're just amazed at what the final decision was to make zombies relevant. I've only mentioned my playtime so people don't think I'm some new player who's expressing his distaste with something he doesn't fully understand. Also, when have I ever tried to push my playstyle on others? Quote me, if you would. I'm the one defending my playstyle against a horde of people who shun PVP.

When DayZ is finished, I will go back to my bandit one day, hero the next playstyle. Until then, this game is very limited so we do what we can to get the most out of it. We're not killing anyone but ourselves, lol. We have our battles on low population servers in remote towns.

When I play on experimental, I generally run around stalking people and whispering to them through my mic. I don't just PVP, that's just what I do when all my buddies are online. I still hold people up, I still defend people at times, and sometimes I just observe other people interacting like a deranged pervert. (;

I very much enjoy this game, truly. It's the most fun I've had in any video game. I have faith the team will get it to where it needs to be, but the thought of them fucking it up due to Bohemia's influence sometimes gives me nightmares. (;

There are several good points here. Such a shame that we all get too personal about issues like this.

To me, Dayz is a sandbox game that surrounds three core elements: the map, the loot, and the zombies. While Dayz is still in production, if one of these cores changes drastically, it is obvious that someones playstyle will be impacted severely while other playstyles will feel little to no impact.

The problem is that no one is really wrong here because it's a sandbox game. To each his own i say! However, i think that we all need to lighten up a bit. Can the zombies be annoying at this point? Sure as shit they can be- at a minimum, imagine what new players are feeling and how this is a valid point. Can we be critical of how the game develops? Sure as shit we can- skepticism breeds understanding and change, the very reason to have a forum. Can we be more constructive on how we convey ideas and sentiments within the forums? Sure as shit we can- keeping in mind that how we are raised, how we are schooled, where we are from and what race and gender we are will always create barriers however slight. And finally, can we be more patient? Yes, i think we should be.... But not too patient! Inactivity can create dissapointment...

Confirmed: pancakes ARE delicious!

To people thinking the zombies are fine in their current state, that's fine, good for you. To me they're enormously annoying now, and I pretty much agree with what the OP says. Whenever you kill a zombie there just spawns another one on  the exact spot  the other zombie stood when you killed him. You can even see them respawning, which totally ruins the atmosphere of the game. Plus, they are faster now than Usain Bolt (makes a lot of sense that half-dead people run faster than healthy ones doesn't it?) and lunge at you like jaguars and make you bleed like a pig whenever they scratch you. There is so much wrong with zombies atm that I'd actually like zombies to just dissapear from the game (in their current state)  :( . I'm 100% for zombies but it gets really annoying when you sit in a town and try to drink from a well and you have to pull out your axe every 5 seconds  <_<. And I know what some of you are thinking like "oh you're just a n00b who can't handle zombies lolol"  well, no. They're even too easy to kill atm, My suggestion would be even more zombies or make them stronger & make them slower and let them hunt in hordes to give them more of a zombie-feel and not just make them look like sprinting ugly psychopaths. (But of course my criticism is irrelevant since this is an ALPHHAAAAAA  <_<)

Also, love the amount of wannabe-DayZ-elitists on here trying to tell others how to play the game & saying like "uuhh go play Arma if you want pvp". First of all, It's a fucking SANDBOX game, there are no rules for how anyone should play the game other than no hacking/cheating. Secondly, the game is called a Zombie Survival Horror (lolwut?) Game, but I think we can all agree that PvP is the only real threat in this Alpha, so it's kinda obvious people want to do that.

How can you say with certainty they will never be the primary threat? If they implement zombies the way they want to, say 10,000 zombies on the map localized mostly in populated areas? Sorry buddy, but you're threat level to my individual person became a lot smaller...

Because there will never be that many zombies in an area. Look at the engine. It wouldn't support the pathing. RV4 can't support it, so how would a tweaked RV3? Also, even if it were 100 zombies in an area, a fireman's axe combined with some strafing would result in the player still standing and going about his business.

I like the zombies in State of Decay. They can actually be difficult if too many get too close to you. In DayZ they kind of stumble and bounce off of each other.

Assumes I'm anti-PVP and KoS, which I'm not.

Just not true. It's not a core part of the game in that it's a temporary fix and I think it's a good idea to fiddle with different spawning techniques and zombie features while in alpha. Why wouldn't you do that? And who cares if the results aren't great? It's not a full release.

"Zombies: Simple respawn mechanic implemented for zombies, pending more robust method"

What they've done is what Napalm Dog said, they've added something that is similar to what hordes would be like, which is annoying amounts of zombies coming at you. They're not infinite if you run away and avoid them. They're infinite if you're only focused on killing someone else and have to kill all the zombies around you to do it. You're clearly just overly focused with one aspect of the game and you post that openly. I'm against making this game one thing (PvP). It needs PvP. It also needs consequences for that, which like I said I'm quite happy to see you reaping.

This thread isn't about what they will be, it's about what they are now. By the looks of the poll, more people think they're annoying than those who enjoy randomly spawning/unrealistic zombies.

Who cares what they are now? It's temporary. You suffer from an inability to read.

P.S: You've got Rocket residue in your pom-poms.

I wish breathing wasn't controlled by an automated system in your brain. It'd be a simple way to cull some people on this planet. You haven't justified what makes me some sort of non-critical fan boy. You're just throwing it out there because you don't have anything that even borders on an informed opinion. I've already stated the spawning isn't where it needs to be, but I don't feel the need for a useless rant because it's already been made clear that it's not permanent. The whole topic is irrelevant. Completely pointless.

Don't accuse others of being kids because you're 16 (act like it) and can't read. Acknowledge the handicaps you struggle with and adjust, you'll be a better person because of it.

I hope PvP continues to have consequences that make it something you have to consider. This topic is funny because really you're just raging that it isn't ARMA and trying to hide behind a useless opinion on zombie spawning.

Oh god here we go again with the "it's an opinion so it can't be wrong" type of thing. Of course you can have other opinions & share them, that's even indispensable & respect is good, but I'm just too tired of these kind of people acting like they know everything in DayZ and how it should be played  <_< Not specifically referring to anyone as it was not meant as a generalisation but I can't put "some of you" before every sentence I make. Hope you can understand that

Who cares what they're like in six months? This thread pertains to what they're like NOW. And I'm the one suffering from an inability to read. Stop trying to give advice to people who don't need it. The whole point of an alpha is to give feedback, which is what we're doing. Bohemia doesn't need you to defend them.

Obviously you're happy with buggy, poorly implemented zombies. They don't emulate zombie hordes, either. To those claiming that: lol. Most people aren't cool with bandaging, or drinking, or eating somewhere safe after killing ten zombies with their axe only to have one appear right on top of them, knocking them unconscious while they're defenseless.

If they want to fix zombies, develop an actual fix before releasing it. This isn't progression, it's regression.

Honestly didn't people expect them to respawn in a similar fashion to the mod?

The mod was great, I expect SA to have everything it had and more. This is them testing the water for zed spawns, we all knew there would be times when it would be a mess. The collision thing is a bit of a none issue, everyone knows about it, its just a waiting game for the fix.

Try to see it as a glass half full situation, at least now they respawn, its the first step. Now its time to build on that mechanic, maybe try and make them spawn out of LoS, edit the timers for balance, its all part of the process. But in itself respawning zombies (even in this simple form) is great for moving forward the development from my point of view :)

Nope. I'm not. I wasn't happy with the previous iterations either though. Zombies need to be a significant threat and I think just making them faster is a poor way to accomplish that. One day I hope the threat comes from their numbers and not their speed but that doesn't look like it's possible at the moment for performance reasons. Will it ever? Who knows?

Of course all the issues with them also need to be fixed (pathing, collision etc).
