Munchermanjz 36 Posted February 4, 2014 Indeed it is. Mostly because it is not a dumbed down, hold you by the hand kinda game like most other games out there. These people whining about bugs and refusing to understand why/what they paid 30 bucks for, will continue to rage and complain about the game until they had their fill and leave, bugs or no bugs. To them I say farewell and thanks for all the fish. I know it doesn't matter but doing some research before buying a game helps immensely to avoid making yourself look like a fool on the interwebs. I pray to you Rocket, I pray that you do the right thing. Make the game what YOU see it to be, make it how YOU want it. But for the love of all things, DON'T give in to the lust for money. DON't sell out and actually listen and apply what people want to YOUR game. YOU can create that shining beacon, that just might lead gaming back to the rightful path, where developers make a shining work of art THEIR way. People will fall to their knees and beg you to dumb it down, to make it easy and simple to understand, to appease them. But this has been the downfall of the gaming industry in the last 5-10 years. Its why the classics are still the best. Why people will stick religiously to the original game and not it's sequels. Games have been dumbed down from their awesome state so that a wider variety of players will pick it up and play it, to make more money from more people at the cost of quality. The small group that made the game what it was got it started, made people consider buying the sequel, which was dumbed down to appeal to those who didn't want to or might not have understood the original. The same process was done for the next sequel... again and again until the series is the laughing stock of the world. Need an example? Try CoD. Yes it has its moments, is can still be fun, but ask gamers how they think. Most will tell you it died at MW or MW2, they are the older generation, the ones who knew what a good game was made of. people like the guy who started this post just don't belong in this group, they belong in the modern release of CoD, the ones who were appeased to as the game lost its luster. It isn't an insult to tell someone to go play the older CoD games, as hacked as they are... They are the good ones. But now? Being told they should be playing CoD is an insult to many people because the community who plays itnow ruined what it was. Rocket, keep DayZ from falling down this path. For the love of gaming, do this and you shall be rewarded with dedicated gamers and fans who will follow you through everything you go on to make. Just keep the dream alive, and the dream will carry you on.
Zjasuu 337 Posted February 4, 2014 I know what you mean OP, I suggest you to come back when the game get's more stuff to do, like vehicles and building. I still enjoy playing it but don't know for how long, the game just feels like running around pointlessly and staying alive doesn't really reward you. Also here are some tips that I use when I interact with people. - See them before they see you, don't let them see you, get as close as possible and make contact with a microphone - 3RD person - Stay in cover - Try to sound as friendly and relaxed as possible - Don't even try to interact with people who have: clown masks, full military gear + M4 - Never trust anyone - Watch your back when interacting with other players - If the other player has a weapon in his hands tell him to put it away - Say that you are friendly - Ask if he has friends around - Keep your gun lowered when he sees you - When you want to leave tell him to keep his gun down and walk to the opposite direction
Etherimp 1323 Posted February 4, 2014 I usually don't reply (to anything) but, today only, i feel empathy for this type of rant. OP, I understand your frustration. I've experienced the same feelings when i first started playing the DayZ mod back in August of 2012. I was hooked on the potential of Dean's vision hook, line, and sinker. I began honing my skills as a lone wolf, stalking the northern rim from Lopatino to Krastnostav and back, using Poebda to stay hydrated. I avoided everyone I saw and shot at everyone who saw me; win some, lose some. It became a morbid existence. It was about 2 months of hyper-paranoia and hermitdom until I was confronted with my first unicorn. When I saw my first Hero I instantly realized what I wanted to be when I grew up. Coyote backpack full of precious life. Gifts given as if they were leftover fruit, the owner not wanting them to spoil. He gave me a canteen 2 steaks, my first CCO SD (didn't last long), saluted, and bid me good luck. I began blood-bagging everyone in sight. If they asked, If they didn't ask. I joined many people, offering battlefield triage to squads, gangs, spouses, lone wolves, anyone who asked for assistance in Side, Hero, Bandit-it didnt matter. I wanted my (plaid) stripes, and nothing was going to stop me. I achieved my goal (and then some) but I learned a few valuable lessons along the way. Disclaimer: I realize everyone has a different playstyle, and I am only sharing the small corner of knowledge my humble adventures have accumulated using a similar playstyle to what OP is attempting. 1. Heroes die. All the time. As a matter of fact, when you play as a Hero expect to die. 100%. If you've watched movies, you know when the hero is going to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Hopefully, you look bad-ass and get to take a few bad guys with you sometimes. 2. People are asshats. I've been lured in, satchel charged, sniped, mowed down, betrayed in Shakespearean epics of deceit, sacrificed to the blood god, more times than I can count. If you can think of it, someone can think of something worse. Keep this in mind when you initiate a dialogue with a stranger toting a fireaxe. 3. Don't be "nice". What is hard about being nice is that it expects reciprocation. People can be offended if the sentiment isn't reflected. The thing about being nice is it can be interpreted as weakness, which is a big no-no in survival-of-the-fittest Chernarus. You have to be positive instead. Being positive allows you to be "nice" but remain in control of the situation without showing weakness. You can maintain a commanding tone without sounding like a scared child or a shithead. 4. Your actions are essentially contributing to the larger sum of an idea: There is good in Chernarus. You are part of it, but don't get confused. The price your good deeds will bring is vulnerability. You have to be willing sacrifice everything, literally everything, every time you say "Hello" to someone. Don't expect them to be nice. Don't expect to live. But, by all means, DO enjoy the ride. It will get better as time progresses. More zombies. VEHICLES. The thing is: People are going to act the same no matter how many awesome features Dean throws in here. Come to terms with the potential consequences of your actions or this place will beat any remaining fuks you still have to give right out of you. Quoted for mother-fucking truth. Karmaterror 982 Posted February 4, 2014 Hey OP, I know it sucks when people just KoS all the time, but it is a part of the game. You wouldn't get that constant fear/paranoia if they were all gonna be friendly. I too feel that running north has no purpose....at the moment. I would advise giving the mod a try, maybe when steam has A2 on sale for like a fiver. When you play that there is real purpose in heading north. You create a buffer zone between you and a lot of the combat happy people, and with base building have something to work on up there. I find that I meet a lot more friendlys up there aswell. Playing the mod a bit might give you more of an idea where the SA will go, as I believe many of the features will still be in SA just heavily improved upon. The food/drink system is just one example of how much more in depth things in the SA will be. It may even restore your faith in the game a bit seeing what it can become with more features. Either way the game at this stage carnt reflect the way people will play it when its finished. Maybe let them at least get core features in, that will distract players from KoS, before you write off the game ;)
TEST_SUBJECT_83 465 Posted February 4, 2014 You think the DayZ community is horrible?Just look at all the awesome responses you've got from your rant. :DI know you will be back. ;)
Rancor 90 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) First off, I know tons of you will say BYE! WE WONT MISS YOU! or something like ALPHA! I have tried everything to enjoy this game, at about 102 hours played I believe I have tried everything to survive besides just hiding in the North (Which is epically boring at this point in the game). Im so sick of getting betrayed by helping people, or trying to form a group with guys that say they are friendly just to get shot moments later by those same people. I have tried Hardcore servers, I have tried joining a clan, and quite frankly at 102 hours played I cannot believe I have just as much stuff as someone who has invested not 10 minutes into the game. So this post is too hopefully let people know that this game is a complete LIE. You should look at this game in its current state as DAYSTAYTHEFUCKUPNORTHANDDONTINTERACTWITHANYONE. Its complete utter bullshit that I thought I was purchasing a game that had something to do with zombies. Its simply another point and shoot game, where you spend hours finding good equipment, then die one way or another, rinse and repeat. The surviving aspect is horrible, its about deceiving people, playing people, ruining their experience. I can only hope in a few months this game will be better and not 100% about shooting other/fellow survivors. I know in my heart it wont be, and this saddens me terribly. The zombie mechanics are horrible and will never be the main threat, it will always be people (Or F**King whackjobs as I call them) that are out there for one reason, and that is to ruin the game for you. They are assholes because they dont need your gear, they dont need your food, they dont need your weapons.. they just kill because they have nothing better to do. Due to the fact that right now, all you have to do is server hop a few times (by the way the 30second delay that is coming out isnt going to fix this, maybe for Balota, and on top of that combat logging will still be highly possible)to get ALL the gear you will ever need, Zombies are nothing but glitchy annoying "bugs" you can squish with the palm of your hand, and the horrible community of people playing this game I am done. I read somewhere steam will give you 1 refund? Well Im going after it, I would rather buy this game again in maybe 4 years when its just entering beta. Its a horrible waste of time, atleast for me right now. anyways /endrant PS: Let the "Fanboys" preach how its "Alpha" or the "Potential" It has. Potential it DID have, but I see no future now. Dude, didn't you read the warning as you bought the game ? Didn't you read the waring every time you log in ?I dont understand such rage. There are warnings everywere not to buy the game, but you do, and start complaining, about the game being crap ? Of course its crap because it isnt finished yet and it will take a long time until its finished. Even Rocket admitted on twitter that the game is kind og boring atm, because there is a low amount of zombies not loot respawn and so on It is just like buying a go cart, while wanting a super sportscar, and then start complaining why the go cart isnt as fast as the sportscar, You guys are pretty crazy... DemonGroover 8836 Posted February 4, 2014 What - is this Facebook where you come to tell the world your problems in the hope you get some sympathetic comments? As has been said - wait until release - you cant say you weren't warned.
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted February 4, 2014 What do you do? Hide in the North? Must be real fun. I have so many deaths under my belt because I guess I tried to be a "Real Hero", constantly trying to help Bambies get some stuff to enjoy the game, always gave away most of my food, ammo etc as long as I had my M4. So yeah I would go to the dangerous spots on the coast (Where the hell else are you going to experience the player interaction part of this game?) and try to help. Ive gotten knocked out by bambies, shot by snipers(The majority of my deaths, F**king pussy's), and straight up been told a person is "friendly" only to be shot in the back. This has nothing to do with the game going MY WAY. You sir sound like a douche. My complaining comes from a deep desire to enjoy this epic looking game, just to be horribly dissapointed by the overall community. Honestly man, just go away, your posts dont contribute to anything and are straight up trolling. 1) Why are you still here? 2) 218 hours played as of right now and haven't died on my Regular character since last character wipe/patch. I don't hide in the woods. I get the jump on people constantly. Is the Mosin overpowered? Probably. 3) Start → Control Panel → Uninstall a Program → Select DayZ → Click "Uninstall" → Make everyone happy.

Estevacio 62 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) Bye!! We won't miss you!! It's alpha!! AhaTry not to depend on other people, join a hardcore server and enjoy being paranoid every 2 seconds, or play with 1 or more friends, just don't make these postsEdit: refund on tags of topic LOL Edited February 4, 2014 by Estevacio
Matej (DayZ) 71 Posted February 4, 2014 Can I get a refund? I was hoping somebody will try to betray me , or kill me in some innovative way , i wasnt event handcuffed and fed rotten fruit and I dont camp North I am usually in hot spots and played for 180 hours, yet instead all I meet are interesting characters who RP a lot

deebz1234 243 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) wow jesus what a rant. i would suggest giving the mod a go though. Maybe just to see what the potential is? You cant over state the Alpha...its not a released game yet. Its a fancy kickstarter project essentially...crowd funded. Have you tried breaking point yet? (a3) its interesting, it has a lot more and a lot less than SA. but that is an arma 3 mod...so its a different ballgame. I think you should come back to SA in 6 months, im sure by then we all will have left or it will be some next level shit. also just out of curiosity, how old are you? where are you from? continent. im just interested in the demographics. blissfulkunt 196 Posted February 4, 2014 Just so you all know, Im already playing again, I was extremely frustrated yesterday with yet another sadist saying he was friendly just to shoot me in the back. To all those positive responses thank you very much, to the negative ones, well, thanks for your non helpful 2 cents. Clonehappy hopefully ill see you on soon. However this was truly my last rant.. if I get this frustrated again I promise to keep it to myself. Anyways, good adventures all, hopefully I get a positive story this time around.
