the problem is too many people follow the same path at spawn, like lemmings.

 

go the route others don't there is untold loot to be had, seriously.

You can't really predict which route everyone is going to take. There's only so many routes to go from the coast. If you're gonna find anything unlooted it's going to be extremely far up north.

The harder the game, the fewer COD kiddies we have, the better.

 

if you think this attempt to stop server hopping is going to work your foolish, if I can still just move some files and see through every building/remove every tree I don't have any faith for them to make a timer that works.

So what if someone hops in and snipes you, what real difference does it make wether they were there all along or just logged in?

Just play the game for what it is, a game, and enjoy it your way.

Server hopping to get an advantage like that over another player is stupid. If they were just logging on for the day that's different.

If you know server which are restarting every 3 or 4 hours it wont be such a big problem, but if you get on a server which ist only restarting every 12 hours, well then it suxx.. just my opinion

Only an issue ATM. Once loot respawn is factored in, I'd assume reboots will only be necessary for reasons of stability.

how is it an advantage over a player?   they dont know the players are there until they log in, in the same way you dont know they are there until you get shot.  

How dare you have the advantage over a server hopper by not being where they logged in!!!

I haven't read all the post, but I have an idea.

Instead of implementing a time penalty for server hopping, how about after a server hop, you get sent to a random spot?

Most ppeople hop looking for loot, especially around airfields and military bases.

Just send them them somewhere else

Edit:I see someone already mentioned random spawns for hoppers.

I don't understand how there is no choice but to server hop, you could choose to go to one of the many towns that no one goes to...

This.  Never server hopped in mod or SA and I gear up and get supplies just fine.

Server hopping is fucking dumb!

This game is about patience.

Just stay in a server and when it reset's go to places you know have good loot.

Some servers reset every hour for christ sake.

Finding loot is easy atm.

You people are gonna have such a hard time once improvised weapons and bows and arrows come.

Military loot will be "extremely rare" I just laugh at all of you that are dependent on SH to get geared. Lol!

I don't like server hopping whether it's for gear or getting the advantage on another player.

I don't like an easy game, I like a challenge. But I also don't wanna spend every minute in this game finding nothing but beans. I also don't want to find nothing but high end military weapons.

I could care less if I ran around with a .22 rifle for 3 days while playing this game.

 

I shouldn't be at a HUGE disadvantage because someone was in the server before I was when it restarted. Loot shouldn't be based around server restarts at all.

Dude, the loot respawn is currently disabled because the servers cant handle it due to lack of performance.. it will be in the game at some time. Its not inteded that the loot is based around server restarts.

 

Nevertheless i would add combat logging/ server hopping fixes after i fixed the loot respawn and not vice versa...

Why isn't something like that priority? I'd imagine a strong stable server should be something that needs to make the priority list, not adding spray painting.

VAC/BE wont ban someone for not having all the files, editing the files yes but not removing them. the game shouldnt even run its a joke that this works.

Seems there's a lot of chatter about the loot and server hopping some valid, some not so much.  If you don't have a great deal of time this is what I do when browsing the server's choose one that had is on the hour with either no-one of only a couple of people, chances are that server has just reset.

 

If you "accidentally" join the wrong server it's not going to matter too much to dc then rejoin a different one.  Sure it's a bit of time but if your not server hopping then it's going to be worth the minor wait to switch.

 

Last but not least... it's alpha yeah that word again, when the loot respawn is finally working then there is no reason or justification for jumping servers unless it's to meet friends on a different server.

 

Most exciting for me the ZOMBIE reworks adjusting hp and animations can't wait to see how that plays out.

Remember, this is survival game. Currently survival and finding food or the gear you want is too easy. With the new update, maybe a whole town is void of food, but so what? Survive! move on to a new town. This only makes the game more challenging, and I look forward to the increased difficulty.

 

Not only that, did he mentioned what the wait time actually is? 30 seconds? 2 minutes? Whatever it is, I'm sure whatever it is, it won't be very long. If you really want to server hop for food or military gear, you can probably handle whatever the wait time will be.

It's gonna be awesome to see what they do with zombies. It'd be kind of cool if they had a zombie type that was extremely hard. The one zombie you don't want to fuck with unless you're packin' pretty good gear.

This is a minor inconvenience. I sometimes have to server hop to find a server that suits both me (NA player) and my friends (EU/UK players). It can sometimes take us 10 different servers to find the right fit, and once we get one, we don't leave. Anyway, this will make the process longer for us, but if it stops the daily "ERMAHGERD HOPPERZ!!!!!111!1111!" threads (it won't), then it's worth it.

 

Find some - favor them. Play on em?

Would like the "Play" option to work at the main menu.

It works, only if the server is restarting and not up yet while you press play, you will get to the server list

Anyone know how this is working?  When you log, is there a count down timer or somethhing scrolling while you can still move/interact with your character?  I have no problem with that at all, BUT if on the other hand, logging blanks your screen and your character just sits there for 30 seconds, completely vulnerable, i think that would be a significant problem.

I like this because I am tired of running all the way to an airfield only to get killed when i get there from fully geared hoppers.

They will still do it just in greater numbers now and high loot areas will just be camped more.
