About BCKane

  • Rank
    Woodland Warrior
  1. Highly unlikely, i was in the middel of nowhere in a bush. It is what it is. Funny enough i just got a "you died" screen while just running up the coast with nothing around me at all. Guess this isn't my day.
  2. I'm toast, 10 different servers and still a bambi. bleh.
  3. This just happened to me. Logged out in the middle of nowhere, after sitting for 5 minutes to make sure i was safe. Logged back in 2 hours later and my character was fine, couldn't do anything (put anything in my hands and couldn't do anything with any of my inventory), then the server desynced. I tried to log back in to and i'm a bambi now. I know it is an alpha, but this is kinda happening to often now days.

    ammo box

This is the best way if you don't need to see all the slots. I have had the box fall through floors or the ground when i put it on the ground. On a side note, make sure you condense all the ammunition to the maximum stackable amount. If you are stacking 556, you can load the 60 round mags and unload them to create 60 round stacks instead of the normal 30. Takes up half the space and will help save space.

Do we want a reward for surviving?

Maybe they should implement some type of "reward" for surviving for a period of time. Like old age where your character gets slower, vision is hindered, hearing goes, aim is shaky, etc. :D
  7. I'm pretty sure that they poll is about the 300 second wait time when logging into a server if you haven't been playing on a previous server for more than 30 minutes. The 30 second timer is that time a ghost of your character stays in game after you logout. Are you suggesting that a ghost of your character should be in-game for 5 minutes?

    Talk about priorities...

    Thanks man.

    Talk about priorities...

I lost connection twice last night and had the wait screen while logging back into the same server. Not a big deal, but I don't think it can detect a disconnect compared to an F4. Anyone else know the truth? On a side note, i legitimately logged off in a bush (after sitting for a while to make sure i'm safe), but when i logged back in later my character was not in the bush/tree but a significant distance from where i logged out. This happened to me three times, anyone else seeing this?

30 seconds is a joke, make it 5 MINUTES!

If combat logging is evidently the next world crisis, then why not just do away with logging out? Just require a person to have their character camp in the woods and be vulnerable for the entire time the player is AFK or only allow a person to enter into a protected sleep (after a 1 hour long vulnerable time period) for 8 hours and after that the character just sits vulnerable. Clearly combat logging is so irritating that it is on par with world hunger and ruins the game for everyone ... so the game should just ban all casuals and faux "real" players by making logging out impossible. Better yet, make death permanent for the entire account, if you die, you need to buy another account to respawn. That would make it a lot more realistic and make sure that people would only enter into combat on rare occasions when absolutely necessary or VERY sure they will win. I'm sure we can find even more extreme solutions to issues that "irritate" players.

So much for a "stable" update

    What is what?

Ever did something in dayZ you regret?

Knowing someone is in a building and scratching my face while strafing around a corner ... then eating an M4. Stupidity kills.

Um ... the 30 second in-game logging system does very little to combat server hopping or ghosting. Those issues are addressed by the log-in wait timer when jumping from server to server. The 30 second in-game logging system is to combat ... combat loggers and is intended to create 100% vulnerability. Personally, i don't like the system, but it is what it is and we are all going to deal with it. It just takes me a bit longer to run further into the forest now and sit longer making sure i'm alone. Not ideal, but evidently punishing combat loggers is the most important thing in the game for Rocket, where as it just annoys me, but personally isn't some earth shattering element of the game. To each their own.

Didn't Rocket specifically state that no count down timer was planned because that defeated the whole reason behind the 30 second character vulnerability in game method ... which was his intended and preferred method? I don't have the link, but someone asked him specifically about a timer system opposed to the 30 second in game system and he said the timer system didn't fix any problems and was still considered combat logging (because you can initiate the timer and still protect yourself if someone rushes you). I could be wrong, so let me know.
