Rancor 90 Posted January 29, 2014 Don't get me wrong, I do support this in every way. It needed to happen and server hoppers need to be dealt with. But shouldn't item re spawns be added before this gets implemented? The majority of people server hop because there's no loot re spawns. I personally never server hopped in the mod but in the standalone it's a different story. There's times where you have no choice. Just my thought. Imho these systems should be tested when the loot is respawning... not before, becaus on stable branch it won't work.. I just see all the threads:" CANT FIND ANY LOOT AN HAVE TO WAIT SOOOO LONG TO JOIN A NEW SERVER THAT SUXXXXX0RTRRT!1!11...."
weedmasta 784 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) Both server hopping and combat logging are just as bad.* The very least is that they are trying to fix it, but in the end they are just slowing down the process. This will hopeful become the incremental system eventually that Rocket talked about in devblogs, where the more often you switch servers the longer your wait time will become. Nocturnal (DayZ) 85 Posted January 29, 2014 Don't get me wrong, I do support this in every way. It needed to happen and server hoppers need to be dealt with. I personally never server hopped in the mod but in the standalone it's a different story. There's times where you have no choice. No. The majority hop because they're impatient they want all their gear in one hour instead of two. It's the same reason certain people moan about the current east coast spawning locations. It's not hard to get gear legitimately in DayZ at all. Loot spawns in abundance and the environment isn't threatening whatsoever. It's far too easy a game at the moment. It seems to me like a lot of players would choose to spawn with full load-out in Balota, if given the option. I dread to see the forums when Rocket implements vastly reduced military loot spawns.
igotrage 47 Posted January 29, 2014 why do people define "getting gear legitimately" as "only playing on one server even if theres no loot there?"
matty_mojo 2 Posted January 29, 2014 The penalties should be harsher. I believe that teleporting players to random locations is the way to go if they server hop - but it may upset a lot of people.Last night I played for several hours run across the map, looting villages etc....never saw another persons, found a manky shotgun, no ammo, found my way to the airstrip and I kid you not in the 10 minutes I was there, 2 people spawned in the buildings right in front of me, then when they saw me exited straight out, another 2 spawned, one was an okay guy and he wandered off, the other shot me with his m4. And there you have the problem, being a "proper" player I now do not wish to go to military bases or airports for the "good stuff" as it is just too risky. The penalties should be much worse than a simple time delay. This game is either a survival game, or a p v p shooter - that in many respects "infestation" quickly degraded in to. In future I will shot on sight any server hoppers to high yield locations.
capt. beefsteak 95 Posted January 29, 2014 Personally I think loot should have been fixed before this was implemented. Too many times I've hit a random town and there's been YAFBH as all the loot I can find. Rotten fruit, cans of sardines, and yet another frakking bobble hat do not good looting make! Even basic melee weapons are in short supply at the moment: before my last charachter bled to death I was forced to bludgeon a zombie with a frakking Fire Extinguisher!! as it was the only wepon I could find having gone through two small random towns in the interior. And frustrating doesn't even begin to describe what happens when all the edibles you have are in freaking cans and tools to open them are rarer than frakking hen's teeth! Servers reset brosky.. capt. beefsteak 95 Posted January 29, 2014 why do people define "getting gear legitimately" as "only playing on one server even if theres no loot there?" I suppose I should also let you know that servers reset..
pythonmsh 71 Posted January 29, 2014 No it is a matter of not taking the exact obvious routes other people are taking. Maybe if lucky you can find that one town that someone hasn't hit and find a few things of food and water. Unfortunately running around looting food and water is only fun for so long. No. The majority hop because they're impatient they want all their gear in one hour instead of two. It's the same reason certain people moan about the current east coast spawning locations. Yet hopping in the mod wasn't the most common thing. Yet a very large number of players server hop in the standalone.
matty_mojo 2 Posted January 29, 2014 No loot there? You are assuming that loot should be there. Well it shouldn't. If you want a guarantee of getting loot then you should petition the dayz development team to have micro transactions where you can just buy it.
igotrage 47 Posted January 29, 2014 I suppose I should also let you know that servers reset..as a working adult, I am not fortunate enough to have 4hours+ to stand about willing the server to reset so I can loot. I take what I can when I can
capt. beefsteak 95 Posted January 29, 2014 My logic is this on weps Barn's spawn loothospitals spawn lootmansions spawn lootairfields spawn lootschools spawn lootnow even the stables? spawn mosins... There are guns.. go look
DeatHTaX 1217 Posted January 29, 2014 Sounds like they are going about it the wrong way, so if I leave a server because I connected to a night or hardcore one accidentally I'll have to wait? Or you could check what time it is and not accidentally join it...or make sure its not hardcore.... or get a flashlight xD
igotrage 47 Posted January 29, 2014 i dont want a guarantee of loot, i just want to simply enjoy my gaming experience. Starving to death because someone is 5 mins ahead of me isnt exactly fun ....
lordopeth 274 Posted January 29, 2014 I kinda like the felling I get when I cant find loot. Kinda follows the whole survival thing ya know? I welcome this and to get rid of the server hopping.
Bubbajones 238 Posted January 29, 2014 Sounds like they are going about it the wrong way, so if I leave a server because I connected to a night or hardcore one accidentally I'll have to wait? how often do you do this for it to be a problem? take 3 seconds to read the server info before you join... problem solved, else = joining delay. Bubbajones 238 Posted January 29, 2014 Starving to death because someone is 5 mins ahead of me isnt exactly fun .... then stop following them? the problem is too many people follow the same path at spawn, like lemmings. go the route others don't there is untold loot to be had, seriously.

Rancor 90 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) If you know server which are restarting every 3 or 4 hours it wont be such a big problem, but if you get on a server which ist only restarting every 12 hours, well then it suxx.. just my opinion Edited January 29, 2014 by Rancor

Leo Balzac 190 Posted January 29, 2014 This is a minor inconvenience. I sometimes have to server hop to find a server that suits both me (NA player) and my friends (EU/UK players). It can sometimes take us 10 different servers to find the right fit, and once we get one, we don't leave. Anyway, this will make the process longer for us, but if it stops the daily "ERMAHGERD HOPPERZ!!!!!111!1111!" threads (it won't), then it's worth it.

Rancor 90 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) It's funny, how this update outes all the hoppers. Never hopped on a specific place, for farming guns and stuff.... but yes i change the server when i notice that all the towns i am in ( not those at the coast ) are empty... problem ? hatesauce 99 Posted January 29, 2014 I kinda like the felling I get when I cant find loot. Kinda follows the whole survival thing ya know? I welcome this and to get rid of the server hopping. The only thing that really bothers me about the loot system is the amount of places that you can go into that never spawn anything and the ones that do its always the same fucking items: Gloves, hats, spraypaint and hammers. As if these would be the most common items laying around everywhere. It makes no sense.
dallas 5195 Posted January 29, 2014 omg I can't believe it's hard to find food in this post-apocalyptic zombie extravaganza!!!
ispecter 55 Posted January 29, 2014 This game is great for wasting dayz at a time. To me this is yet another waste of time. Yet another shit update... Back to the mod. This is a video game when it becomes more tedious then fun gtfo.
