Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.114008

Recommended Posts

So today rubberbanding has been really bad, on top of that, after being teleported I can't do anything, can't move, open gear or even open the game menu to disconnect, instead my character kept spinning the direction I was moving the mouse the moment I got teleported. Had to shut the game down via task manager. Is this a know issue?

Happens really often. A friend of mine actually got teleported back, couldn't do anything, and suddenly someone with an axe started attacking him. I don't know if HAAAAX or just a really really big coincidence. Anyways, I don't feel like the rubberbanding got fixed, maybe slightly. I still get teleported really often. But hey, Alpha. That's what we need to expect.

How are these "just hire new people, duh" posts getting beans?

A business, especially one that is a creative business, doesn't just hire "plug and play" employees. You don't do that. It just doesn't happen like a lot of you are assuming.

To be fair, considering the game is alpha and their budget is huge due to the early steam sales, it would probably be in their best interest to hire more staff to:

a) get more bugs fixed.

b) get DayZ SA to a final build sooner (which will generate more revenue).

c) prevents burnout from having too small of a team.

d) allows them to focus on quality rather than just getting things done.

Considering that they've already sold over 850,000 copies in less than a month (over $26,000,000), they could hire another 10 people and it wouldn't put a dent in their current earnings. Even just hiring an extra person part time to handle the forum/social media to keep their alpha testers in the loop would be a huge boost to the community.  Fan support can make or break this game and frequent updates (not just game updates, but "coming soon" type stuff) keeps the interest level high.

We have blown their projected developing schedules with 25 million dollar worth of TnT, which is great...They might be atm a little shell shocked by the sheer number of new users and at the same time hiring new staff and training them to work on the game. Perhaps this March is the first time we'll get to see the full speed capacity of the Dayz developers in action.

Just had a new event happen to me a little while ago.  I was fully military geared and heading into Electro to meet up with my group when I had the dreaded red chain.  Tried logging in and out several times to no avail but figured I was safe because I was hidden in a tree outside of town.  I give up for a little bit then later try again and I get logged in finally!  Then I go into my inventory and it shows all my gear on me and on the ground and I'm magically bleeding now so I know this means when I log out I will be  a fresh character.  So yea fresh guy so I run back to attempt to get my stuff and what do I find when I get there?!?!  My old fully geared guy is standing there still and I'm looking at him on my fresh spawn.  So I try and knock myself out but don't have any luck so I log out again hoping it puts me back on my old guy.  Log back in and I'm a FRESH spawn AGAIN!  Take notes devs this is info for your bug fixing with this latest patch.  Has this happened to anyone else ever?

already posted in there?

It seems like after they got all these sales the developers decided to slack off.. What ever happened to hiring new people. BTW it seems very unprofessional for rocket to take another 3 weeks+ off. I guess this is why you shouldn't hire a modder to lead your game project.

On another note why does it seem like most of what they claim is fixed isn't really fixed (zombie animals, respawn button, inventory delay, magnum spawns (too common), rubberbanding, player spawns). Sure it's an Alpha but does anyone confirm it's fixed before pushing the update? Seems like someone is just blindly pushing out updates.

1) Rocket has deserved 3 relaxing weeks of holiday. I believe he and the team have worked their asses off, especially since October(https://twitter.com/rocket2guns/status/383965259712589824). And who the hell are you to say he's being unprofessional?

2) "We'll be out of comms for a few weeks during the holiday period, returning on 14.01.2014". (http://dev.arma3.com/sitrep-00038). It appears it's normal practice for BI to take a prolonged holiday. You don't expect them to hire new people during their holidays, right?

Let's trust the developers, I'm sure they do their best.

Personally im taking a break from the game now as well. So far i went through 3 characters, not one of which died normally. The first one simply died while walking on stairs with no other player in the vicinity. Second one i lost, because the character didnt save, and third one i lost when i was looting a jail and clipped through a wall on the first floor, falling to my death (which is ridiculous in itself... 1st floor..)

All 3 of those things happened when i already have spent considerable amount of time gearing that character up and basically playing the "trecking simulator 2013/14". The third time i had just found an M4 (which ive been searching for for past couple of hours) and as soon as i equipped it i clipped through a wall, into the air and died from falling 2.5 meters.

so, yeah... Time for a break.

Yeah, doesn't sound like you are suited to taking part in the Alpha. Best wait for Beta.

Obviously don't know what an alpha is for guessing you haven't even reported these bugs in the correct way on the forums you know like your supposed to during and alpha cos we are public testers if you didn't realise, so yeah take a break we'll see you in a year

You have no idea how many alphas/betas ive been in. Before i knew about this forum i reported all that stuff on steam forum (for example).

It continues to amaze me, how many morons are quick to judge a person based on few lines of text and in their arrogance dont even bother finding out more about that person.

In my former post i listed 3 very frustrating events, caused by bugs, that need to be fixed ASAP and i also reported them, or posted in threads of people who already reported them. And by break i meant i will wait about 2 weeks to A: cool off, B: for a couple of patches to come out and see what they fix and how fast DayZ SA is progressing.

So yeah. Before you open your mouth again and start embarrasing yourself, think twice about what you are going to say.

Yea it's frustrating but you've got to expect it to happen at this stage as much as you've got to expect getting clipped in an open field. I've lost a few characters to glitches, one specifically was kitted out. Whenever this happens though I just spend a few lives on the coast, sure you don't get top end gear but there are plenty of interesting pp interactions to be had. This game is essentially nothing atm without pp interaction, good or bad, so whilst your stuck in the "fuck-it, nothing to lose" mentality, just find peeps on the coast and see what happens.

As a side note, I haven't seen anywhere that the devs have stated that they've fixed the things that you mentioned.

Creativity is one thing, infrastructure and stability are another. Sure you keep all the original guys intact for the core game and its creative direction but you need guys that have experience in the other areas I mentioned to solve these problems.

He deserves 3 weeks?  Tell that to all the people in the world that work 5-10 times harder than Rocket, and in far more dangerous jobs that don't get a week of "paid vacation" for the company they have worked for for 10 years.  In today's world, especially in the game industry, there is no "deserved" break time, especially not 3 weeks.

I am not bashing Rocket or the Dev team at all because I love the holidays and being with my family but I also am not a creator of a game that is going through early stages of testing.

So the rubberbanding + loss of control bug has been fixed?  Nope. http://www.twitch.tv/pantrymaster/c/3535783  Please fix this asap, gamebreaking bugs aren't cool.  Don't mind falling through floors etc, but having to alt+f4 out of the game is pretty bad.

It was initially fixed in 113953. 113953 however introduced a separate larger rubberbanding/lag issue which then was hotfixed in 114008, with the initial fix being reverted until they can implement a more advanced solution.

He has negotiated his position with his employer. Vacation time, salary, pension, flowers on his desk, that kind of stuff.

This is fairly normal when you are being employed in a private company and it's a matter between him and his employer.

Why do other people make this their business?

How am I always getting one-shot even though my blood's okay and I have a balistic helmet? I am always and I mean ALWAYS one-shot... I thought Dean wanted to decrease the rate of one-shot weapons.

As well as still having rubber banding on certain servers I and a few other friends suffer from lag caused when in proximity to them or other players.

Specifically when 1 player is far from the server or has a bad base connection to the server.

the player affects player desynch only seemed to start happening after this update.

You have no idea how many alphas/betas ive been in. Before i knew about this forum i reported all that stuff on steam forum (for example).

Checked your Steam profile, you have 5 games. I have been in more Alpha/Beta games in one week than you have total games on your Steam page. Judge lest you be judged harshly. And yes you can check my profile. Here I will save you time from clicking my DayZ profile to get to my Steam one http://steamcommunity.com/id/BrainFlush

Also your BUG might have been a stair glitch or not. Could have been jacked by one of your "friends" as I have been in that tower from day one and even to this day. Never had a problem. Also you did seem to rage a bit when you died. Had I been in your group I would have axed you just because I already don't like you.

Game is great. Not happy Rocket is taking another vacation. I mean $30 million dollars and he goes on break. I guess money makes you free from burden. Not attacking him just saying. They did warn us: BETA will last a year or more. Hell it took 1.5 to bring the game out, glad it finally came. Having fun, but playing BF4 and MWO until they add more. Even the girlfriend is really bored, and she played 1000 of hours in the MOD.

This is so true. Strange the patch created a problem of this nature. It'll get fixed, game is still playable but not maybe as enjoyable.

nothing new, there's a reason only 20,000 out of the 900,000 who purchased the game still play.

If you were expecting animals, vehicles and all that stuff made in 1 week, then I'm very sorry for your logic.

yeah, it should be ingame since putting on steam early access. i mean, it was even in the freakin mod.

The devs won't add stuff from the mod because it's pointless. They want the new systems to be much better than the ones from the mod, and they will obviously take some time.
