Can we please have a compass to start ??

Walking for hours is not all that much fun, Walking in circles for hours makes me want to uninstall the game.. If I found myself floating in a sea heading to an unknown bank I would value a compass way more than a flashlight and 9v..

That's not going to happen, as it's meant to be a survival game.

 

Enjoy being lost - you will find loads of things you haven't seen before and if you let it happen you will enjoy every single second of it. :)

To me, finding stuff is the best part of the game. Every time I find something valuable/essential, I get a good feeling. Like a dog, with doggie biscuits.

 

The more we start with the less to find.

 

I also like the fact that it is possible to get lost.

Would have loved to be a completely new map, though that would require a lot of work. But I rarely get lost, even though I don't have a map and I don't use my compass.

SA is back to basics for me and the reason I fell in love with the mod, people have had it too easy recently with certain mods IMO

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^....This.Open map in the background.Find a road sign or RR station..read sign,alt-tab..search map,locate yourself..move along.

 

Nother thing,clouds move W to E,always!If you are at the coastline you can figure your desired direction easily.One more helpout,powerlines...they leave big towns inwards to Zelenogorsk&Stary Sobor,then to Berezino..just follow them to reach any given town.

Love it. Always look for Polaris at night if I am lost. Going back to the ancient Viking seafaring days and having to rely on the constellations. Awesome.

Wrist watches will be handy too, when they're added, should be able to ballpark direction based on the sun and time of day.

You really don't need to alt tab though, Once you establish which direction is east, Left is north, Right is south, 180 degree turn is west.
