  1. So I had my character die from swapping a server, figured it was just the usual bug that causes that to happen occasionally, but then I started to notice that I was dying EVERY SINGLE TIME I logged out and logged back in. It happens without fail, every time, regardless of whether I switch servers and regardless of whether I spend some time scavenging before I try relogging. I've tested it about 10 times in a row now and my character has been a fresh spawn in a new location each time. All the servers I've been testing it on have been public hives. Not complaining, I know it's Alpha. I was just wondering whether this is something anyone else has encountered and if I'm doing something to cause it.
  2. I agree, purely because it makes more sense to have the intense PvP/military loot zone be located in the north, away from fresh spawn locations. Makes the consequences of PvP greater too, since you actually had to have worked to get all the way up there. Dying in Balota is not a big deal because you probably just spawned and didn't have anything when you ran there in search of military loot.

Force mic chat: skype etc.. thru dayz?

That would be a pretty serious invasion of privacy.

This is a really really bad ducking game

Im not sure if its due to the reduced accuracy, but in a firefight last night I got shot twice and managed to drag myself away and patch myself up. I feel like in the mod getting shot was a death sentence 95% of the time. That's a good change I think. It might the fight a lot longer, intense, and interesting. I think accuracy should be somewhat reduced (I believe its supposed to simulate us not having military exp), but maybe not as much as it was.
  5. So I noticed that there is way too much KOS in DayZ, and that got me to thinking, aren't KOS bandits just unloved IRL? What if the community banded together and bought each KOSer a fluffy puppy for Christmas? Wouldn't that improve things considerably? Just a thought. P.s. if people want deathmatch style, why not create few servers with zombie turned off for the biggest warriors :] it will be all about drinking, eating, shooting guns, and swapping pics of the fluffy puppies we bought them.

    The goals of a group....Discussion.

It's an interesting goal. I wonder exactly how it would be implemented though. My guess is that any bases which are established would need to be basically hidden campsites. Anything bigger or in a more prominent location is just going to get raided and trashed. I imagine once the game is complete there will be lots of clans stashing vehicles and items in the far north. I'm skeptical that anyone could set up something that resembles a "community" in DayZ, even with crafting systems fully implemented, etc. What I'd really like to see is more content that allows clans and groups to have unique goals and missions. I've suggested adding non-lethal ways of disabling players in other threads, which would create opportunities both for bandit groups and rescue groups to accomplish their goals in really interesting ways. I am also someone who thinks that when they implement helicopters, they should (a) make them civilian helicopters, and (b) not make them too rare, because I think once clans and groups get their hands on vehicles and helis things will get a lot more interesting (they'd actually be able to patrol large swaths of territory, for example).

Clouds blow East. Navigation issues solved.

Going to buy DayZ and need noob tips

Go north, look for basic supplies (clothing, storage, food, drink) before looting weapons, once you have valuable gear never approach anyone who you don't have at gunpoint, avoid or KOS anybody with a gun drawn (as opposed to on their back, since they will be able to quickly turn and shoot if you confront them), if you want to be super safe avoid/KOS everyone, and, above all, do not get attached to your gear. You will die and lose it in ridiculous and unpredictable ways, scream and throw shit around your house, and then break down in tears. You need to be playing DayZ for the survival feeling, not because you want to acquire a lot of stuff (since you will inevitably lose it all... repeatedly). (Eww, shitty grammar. Sent from AMTRAK)

    Melee weapons not hitting

I've had no problems with the firefighter's axe, and a few little spazzy issues with other stuff, but all in all make sure you aren't "blocking" is probably the best advice.
  10. omfg enough with the KOS complaints. DO NOT APPROACH HEAVILY ARMED STRANGERS WANDERING THE POST APOCALYPTIC HELLSCAPE WAVING YOUR ARMS LIKE AN IDIOT AND ASKING THEM IF THEY WILL BE YOUR RL BUDDY.

Ok i get it.. its alpha.. but this is worse than the mod.

This is infinitely better than the mod in just about every way. I mean just the ability to rapidly log in to the servers in like 1 second is a huge improvement.

Why is everyone so worried about killing on sight?

Killing players for loot is a viable playstyle. They need to expand on the current non-lethal banditry options (handcuffs) in order to make that a more viable alternative. But that doesn't mean KOS players are doing something "wrong". Just as it might be unrealistic for people to run around shooting first for no reason, its also unrealistic to think that the post-apocalyptic world would be this friendly carebear place where you can just waltz up to random armed men and ask them to be friends with you and share their medicine. The entire point of DayZ is that players are free to play their own way. You cannot restrict behavior in that kind of a setting, nor can you convince everyone to do something that isn't in their interest by checking to see if every stranger is friendly before shooting. They should add more non-lethal ways of disabling players to let you rob or approach them safely. Expanding gameplay features is how you incentivize different playstyles.

Why is everyone so worried about killing on sight?

Why the fuck are you running up to random people and surrendering? You should never confront somebody without first taking control of the situation.

Should it be easier to keep fed/hydrated?

I don't get what the complaints are. I always have a brief period at the start of a new life where I struggle to find food/drink, but after about an hour of scavenging on my way North I often have too much food and drink to carry and end up filling my tummy. So I don't see it as too hard. I'd only see it being a problem if you are sprinting to the military bases without stopping for food on the way. If you're doing that you're lame anyway.
