I think dayz will sell very very well.

there is a reason why suddenly so many survival tv show appeared. I mean besides survival(hunting/gathering/interact) the mod was pretty much like 'any other' shooter compared to the latest games even worse than some/many^^. and dayz is putting this survival thingy in a more fantasy-based scenario which attracts even more people..

Since it's Friday night, I've been charged with the responsibility of informing you guys on the current situation.

 

Right now Rocket is eating pickled eggs and olives in his underpants, while yelling at a guy on the telly who's saying something about the circulatory system of fish.

Though seemingly unhinged and red eyed, his mind is busy at work planning his next trip: He has to climb the mountain of empty beer cans surrounding his couch, dodge the rats and the ferret, and reach the bathroom before it is time to call his friend Eeaarrl on the big white phone.

Meanwhile Matt is huddled in his corner, working hard and focused on his booger wall. The screaming and banging on the walls don't bother him, he is in the zone.

You forgot to mention that the standalone has almost been released 5 times but Mike breaks it every time.

Last time he broke it so hard the server burst into flames.

That was the original plan and why everyone expected in in Dec 2012.

They were going to originally pack Arma II and DayZ in to the one unified game and ship it, early in December though the devs decided that it really wasn't what they wanted and decided instead to completely redo the entire game - which is where we are now.

It is no small task they are undertaking and compared to some other studios they have a very small amount of developers working on the project - they are making tremendous progress though.

Also i would not agree with you on the word "tremendous", not for a studio. Tremendous would be project mandate on kickstarter perhaps, or star citizen. They've mainly created melee path finding, a clunky inventory system, pathfinding for zombies and network bubble, the rest seems to either be ported or grunt work.

I'm starting to think that there is more than one testing server. Why would 7 separate people sit on an online only game even when the only server available is down. Therefore making the game unplayable.

I wouldn't call it 'High end military' because you can still acquire it as a civilian (Provided you have proper licensing)  Meanwhile a M107... eeeh not so much, but that gun is sexy, might have to get one someday...

In the UK you can legaly own a .50 BMG calibre rifle for target shooting as long as it is bolt action and you are near a range that is certificated for it:P .....not common though:D
