Hello there

Whilst somewhat distasteful, I would not mind it being included as a mechanic as long as the risk/benefits were included.

Brain Burgers anyone?

Spinal cord in a bap?

Rgds

LoK

Update: Obviously I mean a baguette not a bap.

I voted thinking about a famous quote of a notorious personality:

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

I ever dreamed about to make the final "SHTSHTSHTHT!"...

So, please get inside the SA even some excellent italian wine and fava beans.

It should be decent for a last-ditch effort to survive but come with an increased chance of contracting a disease (As well as contracting any diseases that the deceased player had).

That would mean if you REALLY had to you could have some orlok steaks but you might get the sniffles if he hadn't washed in a while.

...

I agree with you.

Some time ago I played in a server where I killed a guy, when I was close to his body to get some gear the action menu showed to me the "Gut the body" option but I didn't did it that time, I buried the body indeed (there was the "Bury body" option too).

Unfortunately I don't remember the server name, I'm almost sure that it was some private hive and maybe some other player have experienced the player gutting option...

exactly..

besides given how Dayz works, id just die to a Z. and respawn..

why bother eating players ???

That is the problem with DayZ and I don't know how often I said that but it just is an issue. The life of a character is just worth nothing. This causes the behaviour of players to be very unauthentic and deathmatch like. No matter how long you survived, if you die you lost nothing but your gear.

What if someone wants to rob you? Will you give him your best weapon? Ofcourse not you just die, there is nothing to it if you cannot lose anything.

Hopefully that will change in SA, with some sort of character system... I want the game to be a survival game finally and not some "Ah, it's better to die than to lose my humanity, I mean wtf? Why would I do it?"

Well in RL the simple answere is "To survive" in DayZ there is no answere because you don't need to survive. Survival is not a core element and it never was, because why would you bother to survive if your life is worth sh*t?

problem is most of the community dont want any kind of rules or coding that make this survival game more of a RPG and less of a CoD DMfest.

i wish your life actualy meant something, but alas i dont see Rocket being the guy to make it so.

he clearly loves the idea of "no rules, make your own story".. but we've all seen were that road leads.. its head right to the coastal cherno DM.

I think this may be the server you are talking about OldFossil.

Cannibalism is an act of desperation.  Most cultures there are strict taboos ingrained in the psychi that beyond extreme conditions most people will go hungry.  This goes with eating grubs, ants and other bugs.   The mechanic should be severely limited.  Possibly only let it be active when your blood is below 2000 and the player's hunger meter is indicating starvation.

Other then that I think it adds authenticity to the game.

Nah, I don't want it because it's not needed and as a game mechanic I think it would be a detriment more than anything.

"Damn I need some blood. Oh hey a guy getting chased by zeds!" *pow pow* "Yum"

If it were to be implemented there would need to be adverse effects, like the shakes or contracting a serious disease.

One problem with DayZ is that it's a game ("mod" w/e) and people aren't authentic. They want to do crazy things just to be dicks, and so they'll kill people, eat them for shits and giggles, and brag about it, ignoring the food on the guy's body, or saving it for later.

I believe cannibalism is in Aftermath and one guy says he kills on sight because other people are food. It's just a stupid excuse and not needed.

If someone wants to argue realism, well... You want realism? Then make it so you have to discard the bits that you can't eat, have the smell attract zombies, and spend a decent amount of time cooking it.

Make it so you can't carry two tires or an entire engine, etc.
