What is your sidearm of choice?

Of choice? It'd be the m9sd without a doubt, but what I usualy get is a revolver or a glock 17.

I have to agree with everyone, I choose the G17, mostly because of the flashlight and the abundance of 9mm ammo to use in it.

If every gun had a flashlight I would probably choose the 1911 for stopping power and the look of it.

In real life?  I've been looking at the Tarus Judge .45 for versatility (can chamber .45 ACP, .410 bore, .45 long colt)

I'm gonna go rebel here and tell the truth at the same time.

 

Makarov bitches. Reasons being:

• ammo EVERYWHERE
• Quiet
• Good iron sights for zombies
• When people do hear it, they think you're a fresh spawn/noob and either ignore or underestimate you.

Sidearms IMO are for zombies or extreme close quarters with headshots being the only viable option. The makarov can easily kill players and zombies with headshots. My longest kill to date is an amazing 74.34 meters on a guy looting a schoolhouse in DayZ Origins.

 

My second favorite? Oh yeah, more hate muhhfuggahs. The PDW. While not being very accurate it's useful as both a zombie killer AND a last ditch spray and pray self-defense gun, particularly if you happen to use crosshairs like I do.

EDIT: never had a problem with PDW accuracy, though the coveted M9SD i find inexcusably bad for anything over a few metres

Not to mention it is a complete whore when it comes to ammo. Clips from M9, G17, PDW & MP5? It loves them all!

I may be about to show my ignorance here but, Isn't the revolver and the 1911 basically identical?

 

I have always used the 1911 over the revolver because of the quicker loading time and extra round in the mag, have I been wrong all these years?

On paper they are very close as their stats are roughly the same with the M1911 having an actual clip with 7 shots in it. In practice though, the sights on the revolver are pretty easy to use and many people feel more accurate with that gun and so use it in preference. Either way I find both guns good because the ammo is everywhere since you can convert it.

If I couldn't find a revolver anywhere, I'd say the Makarov since it seems to be the most reliable pistol for me.

Agreed, I prefer the M1911 over the revolver for these reasons as well.
