I can't see DayZ being set in Ireland to well. It's a wonderful place, but it's gun laws are too difficult for DayZ, guns being a driving force in the game. Not only that but the large urban centers might be too large. Though on the note of guns, there may still be flamthrowers and carbines left over from the IRA days. I think if it were to be set in a smaller more rural area of Ireland maybe back 30 years it might work better. It would have some magnificent scenery and would make great use of small fishing boats to get to amazing areas such as Giant's Causeway. Though, the lack of military bases and DayZ-ish places may be an issue. I really do like the history and land of ireland too. This is all based on my very limited knowledge on Ireland. Don't get me wrong, it's probably a great place.

I think it could work being set in Germany (obviously not all of it). Having a way of being able to access the Alps would be awesome aswell as the amount of military bases and such would make the country a possible candidate.

Not that they're going to be making any new maps any to time soon or possibly ever. It's very unlikely to end up taking place anywhere too much more diffrent.

I like the idea of old and new so i would rather a European location than say Australia where all you would get are shopping malls, dangerous animals and desert.

 

And not many guns.

The gun laws aren't extremely strict. And it's quite easy to get your hands on a lee enfield or hunting rifle/shotgun. And if you set it near the Giant's Causeway you'd basically be setting it in the UK. But where I live (County Clare) there's alot of cool stuff. And we have quite alot of towns and villages. and a few Mil bases in County Limerick nearby. Back 30-odd years ago the places wre very ugly and you're vey limited in terms of military loot. There's alot more guns here nowadayZ

Cool. I think it'd be pretty awesome set in Europe but I do seriously doubt that the devs are in any state to be making a new map. Remember, literally everything I wrote was based off of tiny amounts of information I largely made up. A lot my weapon information comes from the one time I was really bored and watched Deadliest Warrior on Netflix. As for the geography, I have hardly had any formal geographical education. Excuse my lack of reasearch.

I'm really not trolling, but I couldn't help but notice that the 'South Murica' option says, "Meeheeco!" next to it...

 

...'Meeheeco' is still North Murica (Central Murica is also in the continent of North Murica too)... lol

 

 

Anyway, I voted for Ireland/UK as well, but didn't think about the gun laws thing...something could be done about that though. I just think the scenery would be amazing to play in!

Ok, so yeah I messed up and posted this in another thread which I had open in another tab.. So essentially what I had said was that Cuba or Columbia might be interesting. But would prefer the Strait of Georgia, centered on Texada Island in BC, Canada. Here:

Players could get from the island to the mainland via the bunch of islands at the top of the image...  also, on the island, and on the mainland there are snow topped mountains.  Would be an awesome map.
