I really hope Rocket doesn't allow modding for SA.

Recommended Posts

The mods now are complete crap and are getting worse.

Hundreds of thousands of high powered weapons and vehicles litter the coast. Every new mod that comes out has crazy scripts, way too many vehicles, and a plethora of weapons and ammo.

It's just a massive PVP fest with the occasional zombie in the way.

Now, you're going to say "If you don't like a mod, don't play it"

Problem is, for every new mod that comes out..it takes more and more players away from the Vanilla version of the mod. The actual survival mod that Rocket and team put together.

There are only a handful of Vanilla servers that stay populated now.

Server numbers and mods are killing what DayZ is supposed to be.

I love to watch streamers on one monitor while I play other games, but the last year or so I've been watching nothing but dog fighting in Bi-planes and C-130 bombing runs over the cities.

Remember the days when you were excited to find a Makarov, or a bandage, or binocs?

M4's are now considered items to be left behind.

DayZero is the closest to regular vanilla there is right now, I enjoy it..but again..too many hospitals and military area's.

/endrant.

Choice is good :)

What you hate, another person loves.

I don't like DayZero, you do though ... by your own logic there wouldn't be a DayZero without the modding community and lets not forget that Dayz is a mod of ArmA.

Shit mods die and good mods are popular, without these new mods i doubt many would still be playing the original Dayz mod today.

I would like to politely disagree, DanicaHamlin.

In no way am I saying you are wrong, but my personal opinion is that Epoch is the best thing for the sustainability of this mod/genre even.

I've been playing DayZ since August last year and tbh I haven't been interested in playing for a good few months until my friends at Mustygaming found Epoch and started running it on one of their servers.

Just my $0.02

Much Love

I have to disagree in my opinion, 5 years later modding may be the July thing keeping dayz alive. People will get bored and want to try something new. To keep them playing dayz their going to need more mods :) also the modding community is a great one and it'd be a shame to waste their talents. In addition namalsk sounds awesome in dayz SA XD.

The SA will get boring (maybe not boring in the sense but very repetitive) fairly quickly

You can argue with me all you want but you know it's true

Modding keeps it alive and kicking

Without other mods and maps the interest in DayZ would have dropped off significantly.

I am not a fan of some of the 10,000 vehicles, spawn with a DMR servers but i am comforted by the fact there will be a lot of tears and butthurt from players who go from those servers to the SA.

The day they do allow modding, and it will eventually happen, is the day the game will start turning into a generic, watered down version of itself. It's inevitable really. Give people a choice and most will rather play on a server with a million vehicles and choppers and 24/7 daylight. Aside from new islands/maps, which we can expect for SA anyway, personally I don't see the need for modding at all.

People saying that the SA willl get boring quickly are wrong, it might get boring after the official release, when it's basically complete, but during the alpha it won't because stuff will be added regularly, keeping it alive, and if they add in construction at some point, there's a lot of interesting stuff that could be done in game, keeping DayZ alive for more time, but I do think that they should stay adding stuff in even after the official release, and they should allow custom made maps, maybe not mods, but if they allow some kind of user made content, like maybe client side mods like texture packs and stuff like that, that won't change the experience, but can change the look and feel of say a car, or a heli,it would stay alive for even more time

This is what I mean. People claim to want the "wilderness survival" aspect of the game, but quickly grow bored of it when it becomes difficult.

That's what DayZ is.

You want all those vehicles and weapons? You also have ARMA 2.

You my friend doesn't understand the meaning of "genre". I came to DayZ to play an intense zombie mmo and quite frankly, all those kind of shitty mods and servers with thousands of weapon and vehicles have been watering down my experience so far since vanilla and true DayZ servers are now relicts and its very rarely that I experience what I came for. If this is the kind of servers and mods you come and play in DayZ, why not just play Arma?

I like modding, allowing people to create new weapons, new vehicles, new maps, new features, modify existing items, basically almost anything they want.

Modding for standalone, yes, they had better. Maybe not at first.

With the good, comes the bad. I've seen some great little additions in mods.

Things like the ability to load a bicycle into a car/truck don't change the general theme or difficulty of DayZ while still adding something to the game. The effect is very minor. It means you can quickly transport yourself and maybe tires and such around and fix up a car and then load your trusty bicycle into it so you don't have to decide between something that you will need to gas up and maintain or handy efficient transport that can't carry others or extra gear. It doesn't alter your chances of finding a car/bike or make either more powerful.

Those are awesome mods, that just add something a little extra to the game without changing the flow of it.

At the opposite end we have armored military vehicles and in turn guns that can blow said vehicles up and will insta kill people. We also have mods where you spawn in with gear you would normally need to work for and I am not talking about pistols but NVG(which I have never worn although I owned a pair briefly once), DMR, and a Ghillie. They really turn DayZ into something not DayZ.

in comes mods and back into the stupid circle where in now

welcome to the new awesome mod where admins have all best gear 24/7 paytowin donate 20 dollars a month and recieve everything mentality.

dont allow mods only the ones that are excepted by dev team but do not change the rules on no server tools and leave other stuff locked off.

went on a dayzero server no nothnig anywhere looking for goodies then one guy is like yeah i got  this and got that im full up

you admin mate ? yep  this times every private server basically. this is why if modding is allowed it has to be strictly controlled and no leinency black list servers who abuse no subscriptions !

i hope namalsk and taviana come to standalone then im happy.

The modsters can mod for ARMA all they like.

I'm insignificant, but I think allowing mods for the SA will just open it up for hacking.. more easily.

Have since read that apparently it won't be anyway but I'm not 100% certain that's fact.

fact is, most of these dipshits playing on 1000 car, military weapon spawn clusterfucks have been ignorant. If you fucking want that, why not play ArmA? Why do these people always neglect ArmA?

I disagree. I'm playing DayZero which is more like the original dayz and having fun with my mates. We go through periods of playing and will take a small break from it but it's been over a year now - how long do you play a game for? Well good games keep you coming back to them.

As for modding, no they shouldn't allow it at all. They can add things to the game themselves. If I was Rocket and I looked at some of the "mods" out there right now I'd be disappointed that my game had become the clusterfuck it is now.

People played DAyZ for DayZ - there was only that mod out when it first started and it's that mod that brought everyone to the game. The fact that other people were able to take hold of it and make it into a million mods hasn't done anything good for the game that couldn't have come from if there was only one mod being developed over time.

Could you imagine COD if there were 30 different version of the game? Good games don't need gimmicks added to them for anyone other than people who are addicted to gaming.
