wheres the searching time ??? were is the desperation ? weres the going hunting to find stuff.. so far everything seems like its early in the afternoon of the 1st day of the fukn Apoc. if every house has loot EVERYWERE...
I assume that it's set up that way for demonstration purposes.

The journos and convention goers don't want to watch someone spend hours running around Chernarus finding nothing.

As for military gear. I really hope they manage to steer away from hi-spec loot as much as possible.

Everyone has their own way of playing, but for military-shooters, there are better venues than DayZ, surely.

I'd rather be scrounging for crap most of the time. Then a decent weapon will be treated like the greatest treasure under the sun.

I'm not talking about M107s or AS-50s. I mean like M16s with ACOGs, military grade equipment like radios, range finders, protective gear, camouflages, vests. Crap like that. And ofc it should be harder to find. Otherwise it seems very uninteresting to me. If they completely remove the military aspect from the game, I'm out. Gonna wait until they mod-up A3's Dayz.

I like the surrender animation. I hope, though, that it's easy to break into a run while performing the animation. Some players might take this as; "Kill me!"

really dissapointed in the game right now.... i was so ready to play in december and every month i look at it i think dayz alpha on arma2 is better...

The new gear system is cool ok.

the interface looks buggy as hell

looks easier to pick up things in arma2 than the standalone right now.

Zombies are still retarded in my opinion.

the Animations are beyond awful.

saw the guy walk the stairs zombie still run in the stairs. kinda retarded.

no vehicule in the release what?

u still see zombies in the wall glitched... supose to be a new engine? lol

inventory screen is bland

i know its gonna be an alpha release but its so buggy...... doesnt even look ready for an alpha release .. this game got a huge huge huge potential but you guys have no clue how to dev it....

i totally agree with the guy @ page 3 dimnzy....

and i feel in this forum is only the yes masters and none of them can take critism

i would buy this game if it feels less buggy. because imo this game should be alpha release in another 6 months...

I think alot of you guys are forgetting their intended development model. If you feel the initial alpha release is not up to scratch, then just dont buy it for "6months" until it is.

Its not like they are going to release the game and stop development on it... it will only be its beginning. As long as its playable (client/server sorted out) then they will release it, from there, the bugs and issues can be squished through the communities help.

yeah i was watching those videos and all i was thinking was "arma 2 dayz mod"

and i get that its alpha and all that, but still, watching the zombies in those videos... they are even WORSE now than in the mod, since they are literally flying through the air all over the place. i understand that that can be fixed but still, the zombies have lost none of their bugginess and its painful to see no progress at all in that regard. i mean they straight up just dont work... at all.

for awhile now ive noticed that the bike helmets get the spotlight all the time. they are cool sure, but not as cool as zombies that arent utterly retarded and laughably buggy.

i appreciate that the structure has been changed to that of an MMO, and that is huge. but still just sooooooo buggy i feel as though its just a result of building it off of arma and it will be that way regardless of the effort the devs put into it.

a million new items and crafting recipes cant make me ignore the crippling buggyness and clumsiness, i wish it could.

not trying to be a downer, just being realistic. and f**k all the fanboys who cant take criticism. i REALLY hope it gets better! only time will tell.

Yes, lets have a fucking circle-jerk, everything is perfect. critics are not welcome.

wait a second, I'm not on reddit so you can go ahead and shut the fuck up.

also you'd have to be blind if you're not seeing the difference between the standalone and the mod, in the mod if you're on full health, the colors are way more vibrant and it looks alot more colorful than what we have here in the standalone.

Hello there

I would refrain from insulting other members if I were you.

@ everyone: It's fine to have an opposing opinion as long as one gives reasoned argument.

I dont want blind fanbois or haters cluttering up the place.

I'm *watching you all*

Be pure, Be Vigilant but most of all BEHAVE.

The base is still RV3, there are still a lot of pieces of that engine present in the DayZ version.

What the E3 footage shows that underneath it all internally it's still some script code running as a mission for Arma.

Very nice!

But yea, umm Im pretty sure that the first 100 times a zombie chick jumps out at me, knocks me down and her buddies start gnawing on my face....I'm going to scream like a little girl.

Im so pleased, I was prepared for SUPER rough edges, that it would be a shambling mess, this being a work in progress. Wouldn't of been upset, I expected it, but damn if it doesnt look great right now. It actually looks like it plays, and visually looks better than I thought we'd get at SA alpha release. Just makes me more optimistic than I was. Thanks guys, now get out of Vegas and back to work :P

No one here censors people who criticise - as long as it is done constructively. The impression i get of some naysayers is that you feel you can criticise whatever you like but then you expect everyone to just accept your view and not respond. The moment people defend the game or refute your opinions you get all uppity and claim you are discriminated against, surrounded by fanboys or the forum is full of yes men.

Being able to give your opinion doesn't give you the right to say what you want without consequence. If you put forward comments like "you guys have no clue how to dev it." then i have every right to say you are talking out your ass (in a constructive manner of course).

when i refer to fanboys not being able to take criticism i mean that they are choosing to ignore blatant facts. like they will say how great it is and completely pretend that all the buggy nonsense isnt there. i am fine with my opinion being challenged, just so long as everyone here is objective and not making it into a team contest of "game is amazing and flawless la la la" vs "game is shit, BS, not buying wah wah wah"

but im hopeful of being proven wrong as the game develops!

There obviously is a lot more work to be done on DayZ, but it is still an alpha, and it honestly looks as if Rocket and the team are stepping out of their safe-zones.

To the people asking why there isn't any vehicles in the standalone, it's because they are revamping them for the later stages such as Beta and the release.

Roark, you have a good point. I agree with you that you can't look past the defects. But in my case, I see the bad but also the good. There is a lot of good in there that Im excited about. I like the direction the thing is going in. I see the unfinished state of it, trust me, but I think its a matter of perspective.

I expected a total mess, and it is! but its not anywhere close to being finished. But I can see the basics and like it., I figured when we got it, it would have basic functionality and thats it, no bells or whistles, hardly any added features. I thought we'd be able to run around, pick up stuff, get killed by Zombies, see a basic UI. A bunch of placeholders, yada yada yada.

Now if in 6 months after alpha release, nothing has changed, then the screaming horde descending down upon BIS and Rocket will have a point.

Firt of all:

The game is not released yet. (not even in alpha).

So I think any criticism now is just antecipated.

Maybe we can critic the way things are going, how the hype can be lost, but we CAN'T criticize a game it's not released yet.

It's like critic a movie by the poster or a book by the first page.

Once the game is released, you can:

1 - Play the game.

2 - Criticise it.

Hello there

Once the SA is released, I do hope folk will realise that its going to be a damn early build and not fully representative of the final/full release and there are many things that will be added/removed/tweaked/balanced/nommed/thought of/forgotten etc etc.

It's a small team creating a big old game without a Hollywood sized budget.

As long as the interface/inventory is better than SS13's then I'll be happy.

Looking good so far. Got to love that inventory but it of course nee couple fixes here and there.

Zombies are buggy like I expected, clipping through the objects and hitting too early but I can't see them not getting those fixed later because the mod is already doing pretty good job on it. They need to slow them in "jogging" pace and not make quick moves inside buildings.

I really hope the screen doesn't go grey when you have lower health because the grey filter is the most annoying thing in Arma 2 and adding even more grey screen just kills the beauty in the game.

Now I'm just hoping for stamina system to kill the always on the run feeling.

The game is looking very promising so far.

Knowing it's an alpha, Hope they fix that attack animation lag/damage, lol. Besides that bug, looks pretty good.

Bear in mind that since they're showing an offline, single player version (I think), the apparent lag might not be a good representation of the final game, considering the server will handle pretty much everything.

Clipping and contact/damage bugs are WAY more important than the visual pish (animations and shit) everyone keeps harping on about.

Cheers for sharing, Love what I am seeing. If you're ever in my area, I would gladly share my beans with you.

Yes, there are some flaws and rough edges, but on the whole I hope people use their noggins and appreciate what has been done in such a short time. It is going to be a damned good game.

I look at it from a year from now when everyone has their new shiny consoles and other AAA games. I will still be playing DayZ because it will offer me more than most of those games put together. I'll wager improvments will be added, Updates and new ideas incorporated, More choice and more freedom. A community built on trust and idea sharing.

Slate the game all you want, You will be back sometime to "check it out" DayZ always offered a new experience which could affect your emotions, I see no change in this any time soon.
