DayZ Developer Blog 15th April Highest one ever

We could add a massive banner to the site explaining why the one and only release date ever mentioned (December) was missed and peeps would still ignore it :/

The standalone is probably never coming out. Or it's going to fail big time.

It was supposed to come out in December 2012... it's almost May 2013...

the world was also supposed to end in December 2012...it's almost May 2013...

I'll keep it simple, If the standalone was released in december it would of just been a slightly polished version of the mod, with the same engine and server architecture, and so the same problems with hacking and same limitations.

Then they saw the opportunity to completely rebuild the game engine and go with a server architecture that will prevent the vast majority of hacking exploits, so what we are going to end up with is a totally new game.

Yes we have to wait a bit longer, but it's going to be well worth it. and there's still the mod to keep people occupied till then.

If you love the fog, go check out the Breaking Point mod, its not quite as pretty as the Arma III fog, but at night time it adds a nice atmosphere to the game.

Actually the fog script for arma2 has been out for a while, we also have it on our DayZ server.

But it looks more like smoke than fog. And it very easily eploitable I have heard.

Speaking about winter, is there any chance something like seasons can be implemented? I don't know much about the engine, so I don't even know if it's technically even possible.

Its not perfect but i think it looks pretty good when configured right,

certainly not on par with that arma 3 fog though.

I enjoy being with ppl I care, and I want them to remember me as a good person when the SA will be release because after that..... I will totally be in Dayz for the rest of my life with a toilet for chair and water plug in my veins tape for my eyes that will help me to not fall asleep. I just need to convince my mother to bring me food im working on it !

I hope they put in some kind of altitude element like namalsk, where you actually have to worry about your temperature

I hope he enjoys his trip up Everest, it must be nuts.

It would be nice if they just gave a small update every week saying, "this week we are working on ________________"

but even still IDK why but I am in such a good mood about DayZ, probably because I know that at least it wont turn out like The War Z.

So take your time guys I dont care if it takes all year but just give me a shitty update every week so I feel like I am seeing the game Development progress.

any hoo just wanted to say Best of luck Rocket and hope the team isn't under too much stress in your absence.

I'm not going to lie, I find myself only checking the forums barely once a week now. I literally used to be on here like it was a chat room. That turned into twice a day, then once, then once a week and now barely once a week. Not to say I'm losing interest in DayZ or the development, but I guess I'm just bored and tired of seeing the same crap over and over here on the forums.

No matter how much interest I lose, I'll still throw my money the day of release though :)

I think a lot of folk are the same, I look in for new info on the standalone and to watch a few player vids. I'm still playing DayZ though, Epoch right now, plus Arma 3 and RO2. Hopefully May will fly by and June will bring good news :)

Below is possibly the best source of information that you will hear in the next couple of months at least for Dayz Standalone.

It pains me to do it as I don't like publicizing a streamer that I find as self loving as this guy is, but he was lucky enough to spend 3/4 days with Dean and Matt at Pax and quizzed him on everything standalone.

In the first 3 hours at least (that's all I have got through so far) he gives LOTS of info, some we know some we don't, and bear in mind this is second hand and also liable to change so take it as you wish.

Anyway, it's all in this VOD below.

Should keep you all going for a while.

Any word on a release date yet? I can understand the " it will get done when it's done" mind set and the "I won't release until it's perfect" but I find this to be very slow in the land of gaming development?

and games are never "perfect"

First it was the end of 2012, (yes, yes I know why not in dec) then it was "early" 2013. I hate to tell you but.. it's past "early" 2013 and a lot of people I know are losing interest and fast.

Most of the people I know thought it would have been out in full release by now.

Also.. trips, trips and more trips.

I don't think if I was developing something people were waiting on (especially a loyal fan base)(and I will wait for them to jump on my post) that I would be taking trips and doing expo's , visiting the queen, etc.

Finish it first, then you can bloat and visit with the world. Otherwise people are just going to move on...

just my rant of the day and I wish you luck!

By trips and trips, I assume you meaning spending his Christmas with his family, going to conventions establishing buddy tight relations with the Steam people and getting invaluable advise and support from successful developers and it sounds like the planned Mt. Everest trip Rocket talked about last summer, took you totally by surprise. Tell us in your expert oppinion, how long it takes to plan a $100.000 trip to Mt. Everest and how easy it is to postpone it a weekend or two. :)

There's been a little info:http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/129419-dayz-alpha-wont-launch-until-at-least-june/#entry1251223

Also, Rocket has been planning the trip for quite a long time. Backing out now would mean he could lose up to $100000.
